BACKGROUND Clinical outcomes are poor if patients with acute heart failure(AHF)are discharged with residual congestion in the presence of renal ***,there is no single indication to reflect the combined effects of the two related pathophysiological ***,therefore,proposed an indicator,congestion and renal index(CRI),and examined the associations between the CRI and one-year outcomes and the incremental prognostic value of CRI compared with the established scoring systems in a multicenter prospective cohort of *** We enrolled AHF patients and calculated the ratio of thoracic fluid content index divided by estimated glomerular filtration rate before discharge,as *** we examined the associations between CRI and one-year *** A total of 944 patients were included in the analysis(mean age 63.3±13.8 years,39.3%women).Compared with patients with CRI≤0.59 mL/min per kΩ,those with CRI>0.59 mL/min per kΩhad higher risks of cardiovascular death or HF hospitalization(HR=1.56[1.13-2.15])and all-cause death or all-cause hospitalization(HR=1.33[1.01-1.74]).CRI had an incremental prognostic value compared with the established scoring *** In patients with AHF,CRI is independently associated with the risk of death or hospitalization within one year,and improves the risk stratification of the established risk models.

To find new genes involved in fungal pathogenicity, a mutant （B11 ） exhibiting enhanced pathogenicity was isolated from an Agrobacterium-mediated transformed Magnaporthe oryzae mutant library. Southern blotting analysis showed that T-DNA insertion in the B11 genome was a single copy. TAIL-PCR and sequence alignment analyses revealed that a putative gene locus MG01679 was interrupted by the T-DNA fragment. By using the PCR-based method, the DNA and cDNA of the mutant gene MG01679 was cloned and sequenced. The open reading frame of MG01679 includes one intron and two exons, and the coding sequence is 696 bp in length and encodes a 231 amino acid peptide. Protein similarity analysis indicated that the gene belongs to the ThiJ/Pfp I protein family, and the gene was thus designated MgThiJ1. MgThiJ1 showed 57% similarity to FOXG_09029 from Fusarium oxysporum and 54% similarity to FGSG_08979 from F. graminearum in protein sequence. MgThiJ1 gene might act as a negative regulator in vegetative growth and pathogenesis in filamentous fungi, and its specific mechanism needs to be studied further.

The neutron capture cross sections(n,γ)of bromine were obtained using the time-of-flight technique at the Back-n facility of the China Spallation Neutron ***γ-rays originating from neutron-induced capture events were detected using four C_(6)D_(6) *** pulse-height weighting technique and double-bunch unfolding method based on Bayesian theory were used in the data *** deductions,normalization,and corrections were carefully considered to obtain reliable measurement *** multilevel R-matrix Bayesian code SAMMY was used to extract the resonance parameters in the resolved resonance region(RRR).The average cross sections in the unresolved resonance region(URR)were obtained from 10 to 400 *** experimental results were compared with data from several evaluated libraries and previous experi-ments in the RRR and *** TALYS code was used to describe the average cross sections in the *** astrophysical Maxwell average cross sections(MACSs)of ^(79,81)Br from kT=5 to 100 keV were calculated over a sufficiently wide range of neutron *** a thermal energy of kT=30 keV,the MACS value for ^(79)Br 682±68 mb was in good agreement with the KADoNiS v1.0 recommended *** contrast,the value of 293±29 mb for ^(81)Br was substantially higher than that of the evaluated database and the KADoNiS v1.0 recommended value.

An ongoing randomized,double-blind,controlled phase 2 trial was conducted to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of a mosaic-type recombinant vaccine candidate,named NVSI-06-09,as a booster dose in subjects aged 18 years and older from the United Arab Emirates(UAE),who had administered two or three doses of inactivated vaccine BBIBP-CorV at least 6 months prior to *** participants were randomly assigned with 1:1 to receive a booster dose of NVSI-06-09 or *** primary outcomes were immunogenicity and safety against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)Omicron variant,and the exploratory outcome was cross-immunogenicity against other circulating *** May 25 and 30,2022,516 adults received booster vaccination with 260 in NVSI-06-09 group and 256 in BBIBP-CorV *** results showed a similar safety profile between two booster groups,with low incidence of adverse reactions of grade 1 or *** immunogenicity,by day 14 post-booster,the fold rises in neutralizing antibody geometric mean titers(GMTs)from baseline elicited by NVSI-06-09 were remarkably higher than those by BBIBP-CorV against the prototype strain(19.67 vs 4.47-fold),Omicron BA.1.1(42.35 vs 3.78-fold),BA.2(25.09 vs 2.91-fold),BA.4(22.42 vs 2.69-fold),and BA.5 variants(27.06 vs 4.73-fold).Similarly,the neutralizing GMTs boosted by NVSI-06-09 against Beta and Delta variants were also 6.60-fold and 7.17-fold higher than those by *** findings indicated that a booster dose of NVSI-06-09 was well-tolerated and elicited broad-spectrum neutralizing responses against divergent SARS-CoV-2 variants,including Omicron and its sub-lineages.

Background Leigh syndrome is an inherited neurodegenerative disease that emerges in infancy and childhood and presents with a clinically heterogeneous variety of neuromuscular and non-neuromuscular disorders. It can result from the inheritance of mutations in either nuclear or mitochondrial DNA. In the current study, we performed a retrospective study in 65 patients in order to investigate the clinical and genetic characteristics of Leigh syndrome in Chinese patients. Methods Sixty-five unrelated cases （35 men and 30 women） who were hospitalized in the past 12 years were reviewed. Diagnosis was based on both the clinical presentation and the characteristic neuropathologic findings of bilateral symmetric necrotizing lesions in the basal ganglia and brain stem as detected using cranial computed tomography （CT） scan or magnetic resonance imaging （MRI）. The differential diagnosis of organic acidurias and fatty acid IS-oxidation defects were performed. Specific point mutations and deletions in mitochondrial DNA （T8993G, T8993C, T9176C, A8344G, A3243G） were screened by PCR-restriction analysis and Southern blot. The SURF1 gene was sequenced. Skeletal muscle biopsies were performed in 17 （26.2%） of the patients. The diagnosis was confirmed by autopsy in 6 （9.2%） patients. Results The patients had various forms of metabolic encephalomyopathy. Filly-nine （90.8%） of the patients had the typical neuroradiological features of Leigh syndrome, including symmetrical necrotizing lesions scattered within the basal ganglia, thalamus and brain stem. Twenty （30.8%） patients were confirmed by genetic, biochemical analysis and autopsy. Specific point mutations in mitochondrial DNA were found in 5 cases （7.7%）. Of these, the A8344G mutation was detected in 2 patients. The T8993G T8993C, and A3243G point mutations were identified in 3 other patients, respectively. The superτ-charm facility(STCF)is an electron–positron collider proposed by the Chinese particle physics *** is designed to operate in a center-of-mass energy range from 2 to 7 GeV with a peak luminosity of 0.5×10^(35) cm^(–2)·s^(–1) or *** STCF will produce a data sample about a factor of 100 larger than that of the presentτ-charm factory—the BEPCII,providing a unique platform for exploring the asymmetry of matter-antimatter(charge-parity violation),in-depth studies of the internal structure of hadrons and the nature of non-perturbative strong interactions,as well as searching for exotic hadrons and physics beyond the Standard *** STCF project in China is under development with an extensive R&D *** document presents the physics opportunities at the STCF,describes conceptual designs of the STCF detector system,and discusses future plans for detector R&D and physics case studies.
