Paraspinal approach for thoracolumbar fracture

Objective： To explore the advantages and indications of the paraspinal approach by anatomical study and clinical ***： The anatomical data and clinical practice of 27 cases were analyzed to explore the accurate approach between the paraspinal muscles and the structure of ambient tissues, as well as the results of clinical application of paraspinal approach. The operation time, blood loss, incision length, radiographic result （Cobb angle, height of anterior edge of the vertebrae） were compared with those in 24cases treated by traditional ***： Complete exposure of the facets could be easily performed by identifying natural cleavage plane between the multifidus and Iongissimus muscles. The natural muscular cleavage was （1.47±0.23） cm lateral to the midline for females, and （1.64±0.35） cm for males at T12 level. The distance was （3.3±0.6） cm lateral to the midline for females,and （3.7±1.0） cm for males at L4 level. In paraspinal approach group, the operation time was （76.2±15.7） min, blood loss was （91.6±16.9） ml and incision length was （7.6±0.8） cm. In traditional approach group, the operation time was （121.4±19.6） min, blood loss was （218.7±32.3 ） ml and incision length was （17.4±2.1） cm. To compare paraspinal approach with traditional approach, the operation time, blood loss and incision length had statistical difference （P〈0.05） and the radiographic result （Cobb angle, height of anterior edge of the vertebrae） had no statistical difference （P〉0.05）.Conclusions： When the paraspinal approach is performed through natural cleavage plane between the multifidus and longissimus muscles, there are no wide muscular disinsertions, leaving the supraspinous and interspinous ligaments intact. The distance of natural cleavage to the midline is different at T12 and L4 planes. By this approach,the facet joints can be explored easily and completely, and a clear surgical field will be available for the placement of pedicle screws. As a minimally invasive a

We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

First application of large reactivity measurement through rod drop based on three-dimensional space–time dynamics

Low glucose metabolism in hepatocellular carcinoma with GPC3 expression

AIM To investigate the relationship between glucose metabolism and glypican-3(GPc3)expression in hepatocellular carcinoma(Hcc).METHODSImmunohistochemical staining of pathological samples for GPc3 and glucose transporter 1(GLUT1),and whole-body ^(18)F-FDG PET/c T for measuring tumour glucose uptake were performed in 55 newly diagnosed Hcc *** maximum standard uptake value(s UVmax)and tumour-to-non-tumourous liver uptake(T/NT)ratio were used to quantify ^(18)F-FDG *** vitro ^(18)F-FDG uptake assay of GPc3-expressing Hep G2 and non-GPc3-expressing RH7777 cel ls was used to examine the effect of GPc3 in cellular glucose *** relationships between GPc3 expression and ^(18)F-FDG uptake,GLUT1 expression,tumour differentiation,and other clinical indicators were analysed using spearman rank correlation,univariateand multiple logistic regression *** GPc3 expression was observed in 67.3%of Hcc patients,including 75.0%of those with well or moderately differentiated Hcc and 36.4%of those with poorly differentiated *** was an inverse relationship between GPc3 expression and s UVmax(Spearman correlation coefficient=-0.281,P=0.038)and a positive relationship between GLUT1 expression and sU Vmax(Spearman correlation coefficient=0.681,Plic parameters(sU Vmax and T/NT ratio),tumour differentiation,lymph node metastasis,and TNM stage were all significantly associated with GPc3 expression(P0.05).Further multivariate analysis revealed that only the T/N ratio was significantly correlated with GPC3 expression in patients with Hcc(Phan that of non-GPc3-expressing RH7777 cells(t=-20.352,P<0.001).CONCLUSIONThe pres

This study aimed to investigate the feeding effect of wheat silage on growth performance,nutrient digestibility,rumen fermentation,and microbiota composition in feedlot ***-four male crossbred Chinese han lambs(BW=27.8±0.67 kg,3 months of age)were randomly assigned to four ration groups with wheat silage replacing 0%(WS0),36%(WS36),64%(WS64),and 100%(WS100)of oaten hay on forage dry matter *** concentrate-to-forage ratio was 80:20 and the feeding trial lasted 52 *** wheat silage inclusion linearly decreased dry matter intake by 4%to 27%(Phan 64%improved the feed efficiency by 14%as noted by the feed-to-gain ratio(P=0.04).Apparent digestibility of organic matter(Phan 64%exhibited greater feed efficiency and fibre digestion despite low feed intake by feedlot lambs due to the change of Firmicutes-to-Bacteroidota ratio in the rumen.

The back-streaming white-neutron beamline(Back-n)of the China Spallation Neutron Source is an essential neutronresearch platform built for the study of nuclear data,neutron physics,and neutron *** types of cross-sectional neutron-reaction measurements have been performed at Back-n since early *** measurements have shown that a significant number of gamma rays can be transmitted to the experimental stations of Back-n along with the neutron *** gamma rays,commonly referred to as in-beam gamma rays,can induce a non-negligible experimental background in neutron-reaction *** the characteristics of in-beam gamma rays is important for understanding the experimental ***,measuring in-beam gamma rays is challenging because most gamma-ray detectors are sensitive to neutrons;thus,discriminating between neutron-induced signals and those from in-beam gamma rays is *** this study,we propose the use of the black resonance filter method and a CeBr_(3) scintillation detector to measure the characteristics of the in-beam gamma rays of *** types of black resonance filters,^(181)Ta,^(59)Co,^(nat)Ag,and^(nat)Cd,were used in this *** time-of-flight(TOF)technique was used to select the detector signals remaining in the absorption region of the TOF spectra,which were mainly induced by in-beam gamma *** energy distribution and flux of the in-beam gamma rays of Back-n were determined by analyzing the deposited energy spectra of the CeBr_(3) scintillation detector and using Monte Carlo *** on the results of this study,the background contributions from in-beam gamma rays in neutron-reaction measurements at Back-n can be reasonably evaluated,which is beneficial for enhancing both the experimental methodology and data analysis.
