Sign language,a visual-gestural language used by the deaf and hard-of-hearing community,plays a crucial role in facilitating communication and promoting *** language recognition(SLR),the process of automatically recognizing and interpreting sign language gestures,has gained significant attention in recent years due to its potential to bridge the communication gap between the hearing impaired and the hearing *** emergence and continuous development of deep learning techniques have provided inspiration and momentum for advancing *** paper presents a comprehensive and up-to-date analysis of the advancements,challenges,and opportunities in deep learning-based sign language recognition,focusing on the past five years of *** explore various aspects of SLR,including sign data acquisition technologies,sign language datasets,evaluation methods,and different types of neural *** Neural Networks(CNN)and Recurrent Neural Networks(RNN)have shown promising results in fingerspelling and isolated sign ***,the continuous nature of sign language poses challenges,leading to the exploration of advanced neural network models such as the Transformer model for continuous sign language recognition(CSLR).Despite significant advancements,several challenges remain in the field of *** challenges include expanding sign language datasets,achieving user independence in recognition systems,exploring different input modalities,effectively fusing features,modeling co-articulation,and improving semantic and syntactic ***,developing lightweight network architectures for mobile applications is crucial for practical *** addressing these challenges,we can further advance the field of deep learning for sign language recognition and improve communication for the hearing-impaired community.

Hybrid Block Diagonalization Precoding for Multi-User Weighted Sum-Rate Maximization

This paper studies large-scale multi-input multi-output(MIMO)orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)communications in a broadband frequency-selective channel,where a massive MIMO base station(BS)communicates with multiple users equipped with *** develop a hybrid precoding design to maximize the weighted sum-rate(WSR)of the users by optimizing the digital and the analog precoders *** the digital part,we employ block-diagonalization to eliminate inter-user interference and apply water-filling power allocation to maximize the *** the analog part,the optimization of the PSN is formulated as an unconstrained problem,which can be efficiently solved by a gradient descent *** results show that the proposed block-diagonal hybrid precoding algorithm can outperform the existing works.

A Real-Time Small Target Vehicle Detection Algorithm with an Improved YOLOv5m Network Model

To address the challenges of high complexity,poor real-time performance,and low detection rates for small target vehicles in existing vehicle object detection algorithms,this paper proposes a real-time lightweight architecture based on You Only Look Once(YOLO)***,a lightweight upsampling operator called Content-Aware Reassembly of Features(CARAFE)is introduced in the feature fusion layer of the network to maximize the extraction of deep-level features for small target vehicles,reducing the missed detection rate and false detection ***,a new prediction layer for tiny targets is added,and the feature fusion network is redesigned to enhance the detection capability for small ***,this paper applies L1 regularization to train the improved network,followed by pruning and fine-tuning operations to remove redundant channels,reducing computational and parameter complexity and enhancing the detection efficiency of the *** is conducted on the VisDrone2019-DET *** experimental results show that the proposed algorithmreduces parameters and computation by 63.8% and 65.8%,*** average detection accuracy improves by 5.15%,and the detection speed reaches 47 images per second,satisfying real-time *** with existing approaches,including YOLOv5m and classical vehicle detection algorithms,our method achieves higher accuracy and faster speed for real-time detection of small target vehicles in edge computing.

Aberrant protamination in sperm correlates to anomalous nuclear and cytoplasmic architectures in infertile males with sperm dysmorphology

Lidocaine hydrochloride loaded isomaltulose microneedles for efficient local anesthesia of the skin

Lidocaine hydrochloride(LIDH) as an anesthetic is widely used in local anesthesia. Dissolving microneedles(MNs) have great application value in the field of skin anesthesia. However, the limited drug-loading of dissolving MNs is an existing challenge that affects clinical use. In this study, we have screened isomaltulose(ISO) as the proper matrix material for the MNs by using molecular dynamics(MD) simulation. Our findings indicate that ISO has good compatibility with LIDH, and the LIDH-loaded ISO MNs(LI-MNs) have high drug-loading capacity. The drug-loading capacity of LI-MNs could reach 80%, and it could effectively puncture the skin. In addition, the preparation method of customized LI-MNs was established based on three-dimensional(3D) printing technology. It was shown that the administration time of LI-MNs could be controlled within 3 min. Also, the LI-MNs were able to provide the local anesthetic efficacy within2 min and sustained for more than 2 h. Significantly, LI-MNs had more efficient drug efficacy compared to the topical creams and the majority of existing LIDH-loaded dissolving MNs. They even provided a longer duration of action than the injections. Overall, the LI-MNs with high drug-loading have a promising application prospect.
