Analysis and Characterization of the GABA Transaminase and Succinate Semialdehyde Dehydrogenase Genes in the Microalga Isochrysis zhanjiangensis in Response to Abiotic Stresses

Gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA),widely existing in different organisms,is rapidly accumulated in plants in response to environmental stresses.The main biosynthesis and degradation pathways of GABA constitute the GABA shunt,which is tied to the tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle.GABA transaminase(GABA-T)and succinate semialdehyde dehydrogenase(SSADH)are two essential enzymes for the GABA degradation pathway.While there are abundant studies on GABA shunt in higher plants at the physiological and genetic levels,research on its role in microalgae remains limited.This study aimed at exploring the function of GABA-T and SSADH genes in Isochrysis zhanjiangensis,an important diet microalga,under different stresses.We cloned two GABA-T genes,IzGABA-T1 and IzGABA-T2,and one SSADH gene IzSSADH from Isochrysis zhanjiangensis and conducted heterologous expression experiments.The results showed that the overexpression of IzGABA-T1 or IzGABA-T2 enhanced the survival rates of yeast transformants under heat or NaCl stress,while the overexpression of IzSSADH improved yeast tolerance to NaCl stress but had no obvious effect on heat stress.Additionally,the results of quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qPCR)showed that IzGABA-T1 transcription increased in the HT(salinity 25,35℃)and LS(salinity 15,25℃)groups.At 24 h,the IzGABA-T2 transcriptions increased in the HT,LS,and HS(salinity 35,25℃)groups,but their transcription levels decreased in all groups at 48 h.IzSSADH transcription increased in the LS group.These results suggest that IzGABA-T1,IzGABA-T2,and IzSSADH are associated with temperature and salinity stresses and possess a certain preference for different stresses.

Surfaced-modified TiO_(2) Nanofibers with Enhanced Photodegradation Under Visible Light

Asynchronized surface modification method based on coaxial electrospinning was developed to fabricate high-efficiency photodegradative nanofiber for water purification. TiO_(2) nanoparticles assembled uniformly on the surface of polycaprolactone(PCL) nanofibers to form composite nanofibers through one step process. The maximal content of Ti element was 25.6%(mass fraction) in the PCL/TiO_(2) composite nanofibrous membrane, which exhibited hydrophilicity and excellent photodegradation under visible light in water. The Rhodamine B dye degraded 96.17% in 120 min under visible light by the PCL/TiO_(2) composite membrane. The adsorption behavior fitted Langmuir model well and indicated chemical related adsorption. This PCL/TiO_(2) composite nanofibrous membrane has super degradation properties and displays great application potential to environmental protection.

Surface Functionalization of PEO Nanofibers Using a TiO_(2) Suspension as Sheath Fluid in a Modified Coaxial Electrospinning Process

Convenient and integration fabrication process is a key issue for the application of functional nanofibers.A surface functionalization method was developed based on coaxial electrospinning to produce ultraviolet(UV)protection nanofibers.The titanium dioxide(TiO_(2))nanoparticles suspension was delivered through the shell channel of the coaxial spinneret,by which the aggregation of TiO_(2) nanoparticles was overcome and the distribution uniformity on the surface of polyethylene oxide(PEO)nanofiber was obtained.With the content of TiO_(2) increasing from 0 to 3%(mass fraction),the average diameter of nanofibers increased from(380±30)nm to(480±100)nm.The surface functionalization can be realized during the electrospinning process to gain PEO/TiO_(2) composite nanofibers directly.The uniform distribution of TiO_(2) nanoparticles on the surface of nanofibers enhanced the UV absorption and resistance performance.The maximum UV protection factor(UPF)value of composite nanofibers reaches 2751.This work presented a novel surface-functionalized way for the preparation of composite nanofiber,which has great application potential in the field of micro/nano system integration fabrication.

Effect of rare earth elements in copper metal and copper alloys

Copper metal is a major non-ferrous material.It has better electrical and thermal conductivity(next to that of silver)and corrosion resistance than most of the metals.It is easy to be pressed into various electric and heat conductive products or semifinished parts,such as wires,rods,plates,belts and pipes in the devices.Rare earth elements have typical metallic properties and extremely active chemical properties.They can interact with almost all the elements except inert gas,and have the ability to absorb a large amount of gas.Its unique properties can improve the physical and mechanical properties of copper and copper alloys.

通过测试一种艾草抗菌纤维及其和多种抑菌成分复配使用对细菌、酵母菌和霉菌的抑制效果,为艾草抗菌纤维在面膜中的应用提供科学依据。测试结果表明:艾草抗菌纤维对不同抑菌成分的抑菌性能存在促进或拮抗作用。其中,艾草抗菌纤维与对羟基苯乙酮复配抑菌效果最佳,与质量分数0.1%对羟基苯乙酮、辛酰羟肟酸和覆盆子酮复配,均能较好满足面膜的防腐需求。

Two material removal modes in chemical mechanical polishing:mechanical plowing vs.chemical bonding

With the rapid development of semiconductors,the number of materials needed to be polished sharply increases.The material properties vary significantly,posing challenges to chemical mechanical polishing(CMP).Accordingly,the study aimed to classify the material removal mechanism.Based on the CMP and atomic force microscopy results,the six representative metals can be preliminarily classified into two groups,presumably due to different material removal modes.From the tribology perspective,the first group of Cu,Co,and Ni may mainly rely on the mechanical plowing effect.After adding H_(2)O_(2),corrosion can be first enhanced and then suppressed,affecting the surface mechanical strength.Consequently,the material removal rate(MRR)and the surface roughness increase and decrease.By comparison,the second group of Ta,Ru,and Ti may primarily depend on the chemical bonding effect.Adding H_(2)O_(2)can promote oxidation,increasing interfacial chemical bonds.Therefore,the MRR increases,and the surface roughness decreases and levels off.In addition,CMP can be regulated by tuning the synergistic effect of oxidation,complexation,and dissolution for mechanical plowing,while tuning the synergistic effect of oxidation and ionic strength for chemical bonding.The findings provide mechanistic insight into the material removal mechanism in CMP.

A novel matrix topology-based analysis method of thermal circuits for reliability optimization of HSER

Hermetically Sealed Electromagnetic Relay(HSER), used in aviation and aerospace,demands high reliability due to its critical applications. Given its complex operating conditions, efficient thermal analysis is essential for optimizing reliability. The commonly used Finite Element Method(FEM) is often time-consuming and may not be efficient or adaptable for complex multi-dimensional system calculations and design processes. This paper introduces an analysis method for thermal networks based on matrix perspective technology, encompassing matrix transformation, backpropagation of the heat path model, temperature rise calculation, solution comparison, and product implementation. Using the similarity theory of heat circuits, a basic thermal unit is established. Based on the fundamental connection between key components, a thermal network for a typical HSER is designed. An experimental system is set up, and the thermal network model's accuracy is confirmed using test data. Employing the topology analysis method, the topology of the thermal network is analyzed under both coil-energized and de-energized states. Potential thermal paths are identified, leading to optimized solutions for the HSER. Utilizing these solutions, the thermal path matrix topology model is backpropagated to the thermal path for temperature rise calculations. When compared to prototype HSER test data, the efficiency and accuracy of this matrix topology-based analysis method are confirmed.

A novel method for modeling the phase change of iron ore particles in the cohesive zone of a blast furnace

Cohesive zone plays a vital role in the stable operation of a blast furnace(BF),yet the complex phase change process of iron ore particles in this zone is still not well understood.In this study,a novel one-dimensional(1D)unsteady phase change model was developed to elucidate the heat transfer and melting mechanisms of iron ore particles.After model validation,the effects of several key operating parameters(e.g.,particle diameter,gas velocity,initial temperature)on the phase change behavior of iron ore particles were analyzed,and the joint effect of multiple parameters was discussed.The results show that larger-sized iron ore particles possess lower specific surface areas,which in turn reduces their convective heat absorption capacity.Consequently,the distance from the solid-liquid phase interface to the particle surface increases,thereby slowing down the movement of the phase interface and pro-longing the melting duration of the particles.Increasing the gas velocity and the initial temperature does not have a significant impact on reducing the duration of the complete melting process.Under the specified conditions,it is observed that increasing the gas velocity by 3-fold and 9-fold results in a reduction of the melting duration by 2.4%and 8.3%,respectively.Elevating the initial temperature of iron ore particles results in a decrease in the core-to-surface temperature difference,a slower heating rate,and a shorter duration to achieve melting.Among the factors affecting the melting process,the particle diameter is found to be the most significant in terms of the liquid phase precipitation,mushy zone thickness,and core-to-surface temperature difference of iron ore particles.
