The optimal atropine concentration for myopia control in Chinese children: a systematic review and network Metaanalysis

Enhanced Acceleration for Generalized Nonconvex Low-Rank Matrix Learning

Matrix minimization techniques that employ the nuclear norm have gained recognition for their applicability in tasks like image inpainting, clustering, classification, and reconstruction. However, they come with inherent biases and computational burdens, especially when used to relax the rank function, making them less effective and efficient in real-world scenarios. To address these challenges, our research focuses on generalized nonconvex rank regularization problems in robust matrix completion (RMC), low-rank representation (LRR), and robust matrix regression (RMR). We introduce innovative approaches for effective and efficient low-rank matrix learning, grounded in generalized nonconvex rank relaxations inspired by various substitutes for the?0-norm relaxed functions. These relaxations allow us to more accurately capture low-rank structures. Our optimization strategy employs a nonconvex and multi-variable alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM), backed by rigorous theoretical analysis for complexity and convergence. This algorithm iteratively updates blocks of variables, ensuring efficient convergence. Additionally, we incorporate the randomized singular value decomposition technique and/or other acceleration strategies to enhance the computational efficiency of our approach, particularly for large-scale constrained minimization problems. In conclusion, our experimental results across a variety of image vision-related application tasks unequivocally demonstrate the superiority of our proposed methodologies in terms of both efficacy and efficiency when compared to most other related learning methods.

Contamination assessment,source apportionment and associated health risks of PTEs in agricultural soil under five land-use patterns in Sanya,China

To understand the levels of potentially toxic elements(PTEs)contamination in soils and their effects on human health from different agricultural land use in Sanya,China.128 soil samples(64 topsoil samples and corresponding subsoil samples)were collected from the five representative land-use *** coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS),Atomic fluorescence spectrometry(AFS),and Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES)were used to determine the content of PTEs(As,Cd,Hg,Cu,Cr,Ni,Pb,Zn,Co,Mo,Sb,and V).Correlation analysis and factor analysis were used to determine the source of ***-accumulation index(I_(geo)),hazard quotient(HQ),and total carcinogenic risk index(TR)were used to measure the PTEs contamination and its relative health *** showed that the average values of 12 PTEs in topsoil were higher than the Hainan soil geochemical baseline,showing different degrees of PTEs accumulation *** concentration of PTEs in the topsoil was lower than those in the subsoil except for Cd and *** I_(geo)revealed that the major accumulated element in soils was As followed by *** apportionment suggested that parent materials and agricultural practices were the dominant factors for PTEs accumulation in the *** risks of soil samples from five land-use patterns presented a trend of paddy field>dry field>woodland>orchard>garden ***,the HQ values of 12 PTEs were less than the recommended limit of HQ=1,representing that there are no non-carcinogenic risks of PTEs for children and adults in the study *** TR values are within 6.95×10^(-6)-1.38×10^(-5),which corresponds to the low *** the PTEs in the agricultural soil of the study area show little influence on the health status of the local population.

Wide-color-gamut, high-purity, and high-brightness thin film structural colors based on modified Fano resonant structure

Recently, the Fano resonance has played an increasingly important role in improving the color performance of structural colors. In this study, we further elucidate the asymmetric spectral shape generated by Fano resonance from a phase perspective and explore four distinct continuum state structures. By integrating the proposed cavity-like structure with a metal±dielectric±metal discrete state, multilayered thin-film structural colors with minimal background reflection, as low as 8%, were successfully achieved. The reflection peak of this structure exhibits a bandwidth of approximately50 nm and reaches up to 80%, indicating heightened saturation and color brightness. Moreover, by adjusting the thickness,we effortlessly obtained a broader color gamut compared to Adobe RGB (45.2%), covering 56.7% of the CIE color space. Even adjusting a single layer can achieve a color gamut of 47.1%. In experiments, by deliberately choosing low oxygendependent materials, excellent RGB colors with high brightness and in high consistency with simulation results were successfully achieved. Therefore, the scheme's simple process for structural color creation, along with its excellent color performance and the ability to effectively replicate simulation characteristics makes it highly valuable in fields like anticounterfeiting, decoration, display devices, and solar cell panels.

Semi-quantitative analysis of the structural evolution of mesophase pitch-based carbon foams by Raman and FTIR spectroscopy

Graphitized carbon foams(GFms)were prepared using mesophase pitch(MP)as a raw material by foaming(450℃),pre-oxidation(320℃),carbonization(1000℃)and graphitization(2800℃).The differences in structure and properties of GFms prepared from different MP precursors pretreated by ball milling or liquid phase extraction were investigated and compared,and semi-quantitative calculations were conducted on the Raman and FTIR spectra of samples at each preparation ***-quantitat-ive spectroscopic analysis provided detailed information on the structure and chemical composition changes of the MP and GFm de-rived from *** with microscopic observations,the change from precursor to GFm was *** results showed that ball milling concentrated the distribution of aromatic molecules in the pitch,which contributed to uniform foaming to give a GFm with a uniform pore distribution and good *** phase extraction helped remove light components while retaining large aromatics to form graphitic planes with the largest average size during post-treatment to produce a GFm with the highest degree of graphitization and the fewest open pores,giving the best compression resistance(2.47 MPa),the highest thermal conductivity(64.47 W/(m·K))and the lowest electrical resistance(13.02μΩ·m).Characterization combining semi-quantitative spectroscopic ana-lysis with microscopic observations allowed us to control the preparation of the MP-derived GFms.

Natural attapulgite supported nano-Ni catalysts for the efficient reductive amination of biomass-derived aldehydes and ketones

The efficient synthesis of useful primary amines via reductive amination of biomass-based aldehydes and ketones over earth-abundant base metal catalysts is an attractive biomass value-adding technology yet facing lots of ***,natural attapulgite(ATP)was applied as support for the fabrication of active Ni catalysts with different Ni loadings(5–30 wt%)by the deposition-precipitation *** Ni/ATP-550 catalyst with 10–15 wt%Ni loadings was found to present the highest catalytic performance for the synthesis of valuable 5-amino-1-pentanol(5-AP)via reductive amination of biofurfural-derived 2-hydroxytetrahydropyran among a variety of commonly used oxide supports loaded Ni catalysts,as well as ATP supported nickel catalysts with other loadings,achieving 5-AP yield up to 94%.The intrinsic activity of the Ni/ATP catalysts was found to depend strongly on the Ni^(0) crystallite size and Ni^(0) fraction of the catalysts,which generally increased with increasing Ni^(0) crystallite size and fraction,owing probably to the hydrogenation of imine intermediate is a structure-sensitive *** efficient 10Ni/ATP-550 catalyst also exhibited good activity and stability in the reductive amination of several other biomass-derived aldehydes and ketones to their corresponding primary amines with good to excellent yields(81%–99%).This work provided a clean and efficient natural ATP-supported non-noble metal nickel-based catalytic system for the reductive amination of aldehydes and ketones to synthesize high-value-added primary amines,which could be a promising candidate for the industrial production of amines.

GeoChip-based microbial functions in biogeochemical cycles and their responses to environmental factors in Tengchong hot springs

Microorganisms actively participate in biogeochemical cycling processes and play a crucial role in maintaining the dynamic balance of hot spring ecosystems. However， the distribution of microbial functional genes and their influencing factors in hot springs remain largely unclear. Therefore， this study investigated the microbial functional genes and their potential for controlling biogeochemical cycles (C， N， S， and P) in the hot Springs of Tengchong， China， using the Geochip method， a functional gene microarray technology. The examined hot springs have very different microbial functional genes. A total of 22736 gene probe signals were identified， belonging to 567 functional genes and associated with 15 ecological functions， mainly involving stress response， carbon cycle， nitrogen cycle， sulfur cycle， phosphorus cycle and energy processes. The amyA， narG， dsrA and ppx genes were most abundant in carbon， nitrogen， sulfur and phosphorus cycles， respectively， and were significantly correlated with pH， temperature and SO42-. The diversity and abundance of detected gene probes were negatively correlated with temperature. The α-diversity (i.e.， Shannon index) was high at low temperature and low pH. Molecular functional interactions revealed by the gene connectivity levels were negatively correlated with temperature， pH and SO42-. These results suggested that the abundance， diversity and interactions of microbial functional genes were significantly influenced by geochemical parameters?. In addition， some genera possessed functional genes related to carbon， nitrogen， sulfur， and phosphorus cycles and can synergistically control the biogeochemical cycles of carbon， nitrogen， sulfur and phosphorus. These findings provide new insights into the functional potentials of microorganisms to participate in biogeochemical cycles and their responses to environmental factors in hot springs.
