Introduction:Alzheimer 's disease(AD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder and the primary cause of dementia. Considerable evidence supports the “amyloid hypothesis,” stating that the pathogenesis of AD is primarily caused by the deposition of amyloid-β(Aβ), which drives tau phosphorylation, neuroinflammation, and neurodegeneration in the brain. The amyloid hypothesis is strengthened by the significant and moderate benefit of lecanemab, a humanized antibody through an anti-amyloid mechanism,showing slowed clinical decline(van Dyck et al.,2023). The recent positive results of anti-amyloid trials have brought back focus on the amyloid hypothesis through biochemical, genetic, and pharmacological approaches(Zhang, 2023).

There is a strong evidence supporting the hypothesis of synaptic dysfunction as a major contributor to neural circuit and network disruption underlying emotional and mood dysregulation in psychiatric disorders(Simmons et al.,2024).Diverse sets of distinct molecular signaling pathways converge on the synapse to regulate synaptogenesis,synaptic function,and synaptic plasticity in brain regions and circuits through complex interactions organized by numerous multivalent protein scaffolds,including the family of proteins known as A-kinase anchoring proteins(AKAPs).

Dear Editor,One of the most serious issues in modern oncology is the ineffectiveness of treatments in destroying tumours,which leads to tumour recurrence and,ultimately,patient *** phenomenon is caused by conventional therapies’fractional killing of tumour cells,which can also cause resistant cells to spread.1 We analysed chemotherapy-resistant cells and discovered that they are smaller than untreated cells(Fig.1a).The fact that this phenomenon occurs in all tested cell types(Hela,A549,Huh7,and mCF7)and regardless of the chemotherapy regimen(TRAIL,Camptothecin,Doxorubicin)suggests that it is a widespread phenomenon(Fig.1a,Supplementary Fig.S1).

The architectural modernity that prevailed in Germany during the first half of the twentieth century cannot be understood without an appreciation of the work of Lilly Reich,a brilliant designer of interiors,furniture,and ephemeral architecture who exerted significant influence from her active position as a member of the Deutscher *** the critical recognition she acquired in the media of the time during her solo career,her association with the architect mies van der Rohe,far from positioning her in the field of contributions,relegated her to the role of a mere *** this reason,this article aims to shed light on the extensive legacy of Lilly Reich,a woman whose figure is being acknowledged as a result of recent research but who was nevertheless omitted from the leading books on the history of *** methodology employed in the research analyses comparatively“what she did”and“what was said about her”,highlighting the convergences and divergences between“work”and“criticism”.The study and its results yield interesting conclusions regarding both the recognition that Lilly Reich received during her lifetime and the criticism she received after her death and up to the present day.

Dynamic assessment of variations in pupil diameter using swept‑source anterior segment optical coherence tomography after phakic collamer lens implantation

Purpose:To dynamically assess variations in pupil diameter induced by changes in brightness in myopic eyes implanted with an implantable collamer lens(ICL,STAAR Surgical)with a central ***:This prospective,observational single-center case series study comprised 65 eyes from 65 consecutive patients undergoing ICL implant.A modified commercially available swept-source Fourier-domain anterior segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT)device was used for imaging and performing dynamic pupillometry under changing light conditions before and after a mean follow-up interval of four months after ***:Preoperative mean pupil size under photopic conditions was 3.38±0.64 mm;after surgery,this increased to 3.48±0.61 *** pupil size under scotopic light conditions was 5.72±0.79 mm before surgery and 5.84±0.77 mm *** differences between preoperative and postoperative pupil diameter in miosis and mydriasis were 0.10±0.44 mm(P=0.078)and 0.12±0.58 mm(P=0.098),*** scotopic pupil exceeded the optic zone of the implanted lens in 39 eyes(60%).The mean central vault value was 412±177μm under maximum miosis and 506±190μm under maximum *** found a positive correlation between vault and differences in pupil diameter under all light conditions(Pmic AS-OCT enables a very precise determination of the pupillary diameter in the iris *** changes in the pupil diameter under different light conditions after the implantation of an ICL are related to the postoperative vault.
