Optical properties of ZnO and Mn-doped ZnO nanocrystals by vapor phase transport processes

In this paper we investigated the optical properties of ZnO and Mn doped ZnO nanocrystals that were fabricated by a vapor phase transport growth process, using zinc acetate dihydrate with or without Mn in a constant O2/Ar mixture gas flowing through the furnace at 400600℃, respectively. The as grown ZnO nanocrystals are homogeneous with a mean size of 19 nm observed by scanning electron microscope（SEM）. The optical characteristics were analyzed by absorption spectra and photoluminescence（PL） spectra at room-temperature. For ZnO nanocrystals, a strong and predominant UV emission peaked at 377 nm was found in the PL spectra. For Mn doped ZnO nanocrystals, in addition to the strong UV emission, a strong blue emission peaked at 435 nm was observed as well. By doping Mn ions, the major UV emission shifts from 377 nm to 408 nm, showing that Mn ions were not only incorporated into ZnO Ncs, but also introduced an impurity level in the bandgap. Moreover, with the concentration of Mn increasing, the relative intensities of the two emissions change largely, and the photoluminescence mechanism of them is discussed.

The interaction between{112}deformation twinning and grain boundary in coaxial polycrystalline tantalum under shock compression was studied with molecular dynamics simulation under different grain pair misorientation angles(MA)and geometric compatibility factor(m’).Generally,in the coaxial polycrystal,the value of MA determines the occurrence of twin transfer(TT)or twin blockage(TB),i.e.,twin transfer occurs at MA≤29°with twin blockage *** TT,the value of m’affects the selection of twin variants.,i.e.,the twin system with a larger m’is easier to *** morphology of twin pairs is ruler-shaped and lenticular under TT and TB,respectively,with different thickening mechanisms,including grain boundary dislocation emission.

The mechanical response of a single crystal titanium sample against(0001)α surface impact was investigated using molecular dynamics ***,non-uniform plastic deformation was observed in the *** high strain rates,amorphization occurred near the edge of the contact region where severe shear strain induced a large number of stacking faults(SFs)and *** contrast,the central part of the contact region underwent less deformation with significantly fewer ***,instead of amorphization by consuming SFs and dislocations,there was a gradual increase in the density of dislocations and SFs during the process of *** local amorphous regions eventually grew into shear bands.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of physically effective neutral detergent fiber(peNDF) in goat diets containing alfalfa hay as the sole forage source on ruminal fermentation,and nutrient *** rumen fistulated goats were fed different proportions of chopped and ground alfalfa hay in a 4×4 Latin square *** were chemically similar but varied in peNDF content;low(L),moderate low(ML),moderate high(Mh),and high(h).Dietary peNDF content was determined using the Penn State Particle Separator with two sieves(8 and 19 mm) or three sieves(1.18,8,and 19 mm).The dietary peNDF content ranged from 1.9 to 11.7%using the two sieves and from 15.2 to 20.0%using the three *** forage particle length resulted in a linear reduction(P he duration that ruminal ph was below 5.8(10.9, 9.0,1.2,and 0.3 h/d).Increasing dietary peNDF tended to increase the molar proportion of propionate linearly (P = 0.08) and decrease the molar proportion of butyrate(P = 0.09),but did not affect total VFA concentration. Increasing dietary peNDF linearly decreased the apparent digestibility of OM,NDF,and ADF in the total tract(P = 0.009,0.003,and 0.008,respectively).This study demonstrated that increasing the dietary peNDF contained in alfalfa hay forage improved ruminal ph status,but reduced efficiency of feed use.

An experiment with 540 one-day-old broilers(Cobb500) was conducted to investigate the effects of different immune stress on growth performance,digestive enzyme activity and expression of small intestinal nutrient transporter gene on *** chickens were divided into 5 groups with 9 replicates per group and 12 birds per replicate(group 1,control without vaccines,CK;2,simplified vaccines,SV;3,conventional vaccines, CV;4,lipopolysaccharide injected on the basis of conventional immunization,LPS;5,cyclophosphamide injected on the basis of conventional immunization,CYP).Performance parameters and small intestinal weight was measured on d 21 and d *** results showed that body weight gain(BWG) and feed intake(FI) decreased significantly when birds treated with LPS and CYP(P had higher duodenal relative weight index than those of LPS and CPY on d 21(P h CK,LPS and CYP injection significantly increased the small intestinal enzyme activities of broilers(P hereas there was no significantly difference between SV and CV(P > 0.05).Results of the present study demonstrated that CK or SV treatment could reach the same growth performance, small intestine enzyme activity and relative expression of nutrient transporter mRNA as broilers with CV in the conditions of controlling rational feeding *** and CPY treatment increased small intestine enzyme activity and nutrient transporter mRNA,result of immunity stress caused energy consumption to synthesis of inflammatory factors,lower FI and BWG,finally inhibit the growth of broiler chickens.
