Evolution of the Neoproterozoic rift basins and its implication for oil and gas exploration in the Tarim Basin

According to the aeromagnetic,seismic,and geological data,the surface structure,sedimentation,and distribution characteristics as well as the deep dynamic mechanism of the north-south differentiated Neoproterozoic rift basins were well investigated to reveal the tectonic evolution and its control on the distribution of the Early Cambrian sedimentary basin and source rocks in the Tarim *** rift basin in the southern Tarim was a product of superplume activities during the early breakup period of the Rodinia *** initiated in the Early Cryogenian(about 780 Ma)and appeared as NE-direction aulacogens extending into the Tarim *** rift basin in the northern Tarim was a back-arc rift basin derived from the subduction of Pan-Rodinian oceanic plate,which initiated in the Late Cryogenian(about 740 Ma)and occurred as a nearly EW-direction narrow band across the Tarim *** northern Tarim back-arc rift basin had similar formation and evolution process to the Late Mesozoic-Cenozoic back-arc rift basins in East Asia,both showing an oceanward migration;however,the Tarim rift basin finally evolved from the fault-depression basins into passive continental *** Neoproterozoic rift basins controlled not only the distribution of source rocks in the syn-rift period but also the development of Early Cambrian sedimentary *** EW-distributed syn-rift(Cryogenian to Ediacaran)and postrift(Lower Cambrian yurtusi period)source rocks were likely to develop between the present Tabei uplift and central uplift belt.

Saline-alkaline soils are found worldwide, affecting over 1 billion hectares of arable lands especially in arid and semiarid regions. Alkaline soils are characterized by the high pH and low nutrient availability as well as high concentrations of bicarbonate and carbonate, being highly detrimental to crop production. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization ( FAO and ITPS, 2015 ), approximately 60% of saline soils are concurrently affected by alkalization, posing a serious threat to food security. In recent decades, the breeding objectives for staple crops were mainly focused on yield, quality, and resistance to diseases, leaving alkaline tolerance largely overlooked. Now more than ever, we need to understand the mechanisms of plant alkaline tolerance to develop new crop varieties better adapted to alkaline soil conditions.

Precipitation condition and nucleation of Ti2O3 during solidification of clean steel have been studied. The behavior of Ti2O3 during solidification as well as possibility of using Ti2O3 to refine as-cast grains as heterogeneous nucleation sites is discussed. It is shown that Ti2O3 can be formed provided that the steelmaking and solidification process is controlled strictly. And inoculating clean steel with Ti2O3 is an effective way to refine as-cast grains.

AIM: To assess the impact of eukaryotic elongation factor 1 alpha 2 (eEF1A2) on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion, and determine the underlying ***: eEF1A2 levels were detected in 62 HCC tissue samples and paired pericarcinomatous specimens, and the human HCC cell lines SK-HEP-1, HepG2 and BEF-7402, by real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry. Experimental groups included eEF1A2 silencing in BEL-7402 cells with lentivirus eEF1A2-shRNA (KD group) and eEF1A2 overexpression in SK-HEP-1 cells with eEF1A2 plasmid (OE group). Non-transfected cells (control group) and lentivirus-based empty vector transfected cells (NC group) were considered control groups. Cell proliferation (MTT and colony formation assays), apoptosis (Annexin V-APC assay), cell cycle (DNA ploidy assay), and migration and invasion (Transwell assays) were assessed. Protein levels of PI3K/Akt/NF-κB signaling effectors were evaluated by Western ***: eEF1A2 mRNA and protein levels were significantly higher in HCC cancer tissue samples than in paired pericarcinomatous and normal specimens. SK-HEP-1 cells showed lower eEF1A2 mRNA levels; HepG2 and BEL-7402 cells showed higher eEF1A2 mRNA levels, with BEL-7402 cells displaying the highest amount. Efficient eEF1A2 silencing resulted in reduced cell proliferation, migration and invasion, increased apoptosis, and induced cell cycle arrest. The PI3K/Akt/NF-κB signaling pathway was notably inhibited. Inversely, eEF1A2 overexpression resulted in promoted cell proliferation, migration and ***: eEF1A2, highly expressed in HCC, is a potential oncogene. Its silencing significantly decreases HCC tumorigenesis, likely by inhibiting PI3K/Akt/NF-κB signaling.

As an oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)catalyst,nitrogen-doped carbon(NC)is widely used in zinc-air batteries(ZABs).However,NC catalysts exhibit low conductivity and insufficient exposure of active ***,a Co-based deep eutectic solvent(DES)was selected to modify NC catalyst(Co-NC)to improve ORR *** functional theory(DFT)calculation shows that the modification of Co-based DES can change the electronic structure of NC and increase metallic active sites,which is beneficial to the desorption of reaction intermediates on Co-NC,further improving ORR ***-NC shows excellent ORR performances and ***,ZABs assembled with Co-NC manifest a high maximum power density of 177.4 mW cm^(-2),a high specific capacity of 726.12 mA h g^(-1)and a charge-discharge cycle life of 500 *** study can provide practical reference for surface modified carbon-based electrocatalyst with DES to improve ORR performances.

Identification and evaluation of fault-fracture reservoirs in buried hills of the Lower Paleozoic, Chengdao area, China

The Bohai Bay Basin is a Meso-Cenozoic rifted basin where the Paleozoic buried hills with great hydrocarbon potentials are well developed. The reservoir space types are complex and diverse due to tectonic activities, making fracture distribution highly heterogeneous. Reservoir identification and mapping is challenging due to their large burial depth and poor resolution of seismic data. An integration of well-logging, seismic data interpretation and core observation is applied to identify three structural unit types in the study area, that is, fault breccia zone, fault cataclastic zone, and fault massive rock zone. A comprehensive well-logging identification template and a comprehensive discriminant function M for the reservoir are established based on the well-logging response characteristics. A M value greater than 0.12 indicates a fault breccia zone, that between 0.04 and 0.12 marks a fault cataclastic zone, and that in the range from 0.02 to 0.04 represents a fault massive rock zone. A seismic prediction method with multi-parameter fusion is proposed in the study. The large-scale fractures are mapped by coherence-clutter parameters, while small fractures are predicted via waveform indication inversion. The spatial distribution of “fault-fracture reservoirs” is precisely mapped by frequency fusion technology. It is found that the fault breccia zones usually occur close to the fault planes, while the fault cataclastic zones are slightly away from the fault planes. The hydrocarbon abundance of the breccia zones is greater than that of the fault cataclastic and fault massive rock zones.
