NECAB family of neuronal calcium-binding proteins in health and disease

the N-terminal EF-hand calcium-binding proteins 1–3(NECAB1–3) constitute a family of predominantly neuronal proteins characterized by the presence of at least one EF-hand calcium-binding domain and a functionally less well characterized C-terminal antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain. All three family members were initially discovered due to their interactions with other proteins. NECAB1 associates with synaptotagmin-1, a critical neuronal protein involved in membrane trafficking and synaptic vesicle exocytosis. NECAB2 interacts with predominantly striatal G-protein-coupled receptors, while NECAB3 partners with amyloid-β A4 precursor protein-binding family A members 2 and 3, key regulators of amyloid-β production. this demonstrates the capacity of the family for interactions with various classes of proteins. NECAB proteins exhibit distinct subcellular localizations: NECAB1 is found in the nucleus and cytosol, NECAB2 resides in endosomes and the plasma membrane, and NECAB3 is present in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. the antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain, an evolutionarily ancient component, is akin to atypical heme oxygenases in prokaryotes but is not wellcharacterized in vertebrates. Prokaryotic antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domains typically form dimers, suggesting that calcium-mediated conformational changes in NECAB proteins may induce antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain dimerization, potentially activating some enzymatic properties. However, the substrate for this enzymatic activity remains uncertain. Alternatively, calcium-mediated conformational changes might influence protein interactions or the subcellular localization of NECAB proteins by controlling the availability of protein–protein interaction domains situated between the EF hands and the antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain. this review summarizes what is known about genomic organization, tissue expression, intracellular localization, interac

Unsteady Internal Flow Conditions of Mini-Centrifugal Pump with Splitter Blades

Mini centrifugal pumps having a diameter smaller than lOOmm are employed in many fields. But the design method for the mini centrifugal pump is not established because the internal flow condition for these small-sized fluid machines is not clarified and conventional theory is not suitable for small-sized pumps. therefore, mini cen- trifugal pumps with simple structure were investigated by this research. Splitter blades were adopted in this re- search to improve the performance and the internal flow condition of mini centrifugal pump which had large blade outlet angle. the original impeller without the splitter blades and the impeller with the splitter blades were prepared for experiment. the performance tests are conducted with these rotors in order to investigate the effect of the splitter blades on performance and internal flow condition of mini centrifugal pump. On the other hand, a three dimensional unsteady numerical flow analysis was conducted to investigate the change of the internal flow according to the rotor rotation. It is clarified from the experimental results that the performance of the mini cen- trifugal pump is improved by the splitter blades. the blade-to-blade low velocity region was suppressed in the case with the splitter blades. In addition to that, the unsteady flows near the volute casing tongue were suppressed due to the splitter blades. In the present paper, the performance of the mini centrifugal pump is shown and the un- steady flow condition is clarified with the results of the numerical flow analysis. Furthermore, the effects of the splitter blades on the performance and the unsteady internal flow condition are investigated.

Characteristics of a compression wave propagating over porous plate wall in a high-speed railway tunnel

A pressure wave is generated ahead of a high-speed train, while entering a tunnel. this pressure wave propagates to the tunnel exit and spouts as a micro-pressure wave, which causes an exploding sound. From the fact that the ballast track tunnel has smaller noise than the slab track tunnel, we have suggested a new inner tunnel model to decrease the noise of the micro-pressure wave, using the ballast effect. Experimental and numerical investigations are carded out to clarify the attenuation and distortion of propagating compression wave over porous plate wall in a model tunnel. Data shows that the strength of the compression wave and a maximum pressure gradient of the compression wave was weakened. these data shows the possibility of the present alleviative method using the porous plate wall in a tunnel.

this paper is concerned with so-called index d generalized cyclotomic mappings of a finite field F_(q), which are functions F_(q)→F_(q) that agree with a suitable monomial function x↦axr on each coset of the index d subgroup of F_(q)^(*). We discuss two important rewriting procedures in the context of generalized cyclotomic mappings and present applications thereof that concern index d generalized cyclotomic permutations of F_(q) and pertain to cycle structures, the classification of (q−1)-cycles and involutions, as well as inversion.

BACkGROUND transfusion transmissible infections(ttIs)are illnesses spread through contaminated blood or blood *** India,screening for ttIs such as hepatitis B virus(HBV),hepatitis C virus(HCV),human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-I/II,malaria,and syphilis is mandatory before blood ***,HCV,HBV,and HIV are the leading viruses causing mortality,affecting millions of people globally,including those with co-infections of HIV/HCV and HIV/*** highlight the impact of ttIs on life expectancy and health risks,such as liver cirrhosis,cancer,and other diseases in individuals with chronic ***,millions of blood donations take place annually,emphasizing the importance of maintaining blood *** to study the prevalence of ttIs,viz.,HBV,HCV,HIV I/II,syphilis,and malaria parasite(MP),among different blood donor *** the study assessed the prevalence of ttIs among different blood donor groups in Delhi,*** included total donors,in-house donors,total camp donors,institutional camp donors,and community camp *** for HIV,HBV,and HCV were done using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,while syphilis was tested with rapid plasma reagins and MP rapid card *** prevalence of HBV,HCV,HIV,and syphilis,expressed as *** in infection rates between the groups were analyzed usingχ²tests and P-values(less than 0.05).RESULtS the study evaluated ttIs among 42158 blood donors in *** overall cumulative frequency of ttIs in total blood donors was 2.071%,and the frequencies of HBV,HCV,HIV-I/II,venereal disease research laboratory,and MP were 1.048%,0.425%,0.221%,0.377%,and 0.0024%,***-house donors,representing 37656 donors,had the highest transfusion transmissible infection(ttI)prevalence at 2.167%.Among total camp donors(4502 donors),ttIs were identified in 1.266%of donors,while community camp donors(2439 donors)exhibited a prevalence of 1.558%.Institutional camp donors(2063 donors)had the l

Analysis of Surface Integrity in Drilling Metal Matrix and Hybrid Metal Matrix Composites

Hybrid metal matrix composites consist of at least three constituents-a metal or an alloy matrix and two reinforcements in various forms, bonded together at the atomic level in the composite. Despite their higher specific properties of strength and stiffness, the non homogeneous and anisotropic nature combined with the abrasive reinforcements render their machining difficult. In this paper, the surface integrity of machining in drilling hybrid composites has been discussed. Drilling tests are carried out at different spindle speed, feed rates, and different drill tool materials to investigate the effect of the various cutting parameters on the surface quality and the extent of the deformation of drilled surface due to drilling. Materials used for the present investigation are A1356/IOSIC （wt%） metal matrix and A1356/10SiC-3mica （wt%） hybrid composites. the composites are fabricated using stir casting route. the drilling tests are conducted on vertical computer numeric control （CNC） machining center using carbide, coated carbide and polycrystalline diamond （PCD） drills. the surface roughness decreases with increasing spindle speed and increases with increasing feed rate. the machined surface is analyzed by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. SEM images of the machined surfaces indicate the presence of grooves and pits. Microhardness depth profiles indicate that the subsurface damage is limited to the top of 100-250 μm.

Biothermomechanical behavior of skin tissue

Advances in laser, microwave and similar technologies have led to recent developments of thermal treatments involving skin tissue. the effectiveness of these treatments is governed by the coupled thermal, mechanical, biological and neural responses of the affected tissue： a favorable interaction results in a procedure with relatively little pain and no lasting side effects. Currently, even though each behavioral facet is to a certain extent established and understood, none exists to date in the interdisciplinary area. A highly interdisciplinary approach is required for studying the biothermomechanical behavior of skin, involving bioheat transfer, biomechanics and physiology. A comprehensive literature review pertinent to the subject is presented in this paper, covering four subject areas：（a） skin structure, （b） skin bioheat transfer and thermal damage, （c） skin biomechanics, and （d） skin biothermomechanics. the major problems, issues, and topics for further studies are also outlined. this review finds that significant advances in each of these aspects have been achieved in recent years. Although focus is placed upon the biothermomechanical behavior of skin tissue, the fundamental concepts and methodologies reviewed in this paper may also be applicable for studying other soft tissues.
