Objective:To explore the larvicidal and pupicidal activity of Euphorbia hirta（***） leaf extract and Bacillus sphaericus（***） against the malarial *** siephensi（An. stephensi）.Methods:The larvicidal and pupicidal activity was assayed against *** at various concentrations ranging from（75-375 ppm） under the laboratory as well as field conditions. The LC50 and LC90 value of the *** leaf extract was determined by probit ***: The plant extract showed larvicidal effects after 24 h of exposure;however,the highest larval mortality was found in the methanol extract of *** against the first to fourth instars larvae and pupae of values LC50=137.40,172.65,217.81,269.37 and 332.39 ppm;*** against the first to fourth instars larvae and pupae of values LC50= 44.29,55.83,68.51,82.19 and 95.55 ppm, ***,combined treatment of values of LC50= 79.13,80.42,86.01,93.00 and 98.12 ppm,*** mortality was observed in the ***:These results suggest methanol leaf extracts of *** and *** have potential to be used as an ideal ecofriendly approach for the control of the malarial *** as target species of vector control *** study provides the first report on the combined mosquito larvicidal and pupicidal activity of this plant crude extract and bacterial toxin against *** mosquitoes.

This paper,evaluate the effectiveness of a proposed speed loop pseudo derivative feedforward(PDFF)controller-based direct torque controller(DTC)for a PMSM drive against the performance of existing PI speed controller-based DTC and hysteresis current controller(HCC).The proposed PDFF-based speed regulator effectively reduces oscillation and overshoot associated with rotor angular speed,electromagnetic torque,and stator *** case studies,one using forward-to-reverse motoring operation and the other involving reverse-to-forward braking operation,has been validated to show the effectiveness of the proposed control *** proposed controller's superior performance is demonstrated through experimental verification utilizing an FPGA controller for a 1.5 kW PMSM drive laboratory prototype.

The mechanisms that promote liver injury in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) are yet to be thoroughly elucidated. As such, effective treatment strategies are lacking and novel therapeutic targets are required. Iron has been widely implicated in the pathogenesis of NAFLD and represents a potential target for treatment. Relationships between serum ferritin concentration and NAFLD are noted in a majority of studies, although serum ferritin is an imprecise measure of iron loading. Numerous mechanisms for a pathogenic role of hepatic iron in NAFLD have been demonstrated in animal and cell culture models. However, the human data linking hepatic iron to liver injury in NAFLD is less clear, with seemingly conflicting evidence, supporting either an effect of iron in hepatocytes or within reticulo-endothelial cells. Adipose tissue has emerged as a key site at which iron may have a pathogenic role in NAFLD. Evidence for this comes indirectly from studies that have evaluated the role of adipose tissue iron with respect to insulin resistance. Adding further complexity, multiple strands of evidence support an effect of NAFLD itself on iron metabolism. In this review, we summarise the human and basic science data that has evaluated the role of iron in NAFLD pathogenesis.

Unreinforced masonry(URM)made with soft bricks comprises a large percentage of the building stock in devel-oping ***,the poor performance of URM piers during earthquakes has led to renewed interest in understanding their behavior under lateral *** experimental data is available on the seismic response,analysis,and design of URMs made of soft *** this study,the micro-modeling technique is used to simulate the in-plane behavior of load-bearing,soft-brick URM *** parameters required in the constitutive models are obtained from material tests and used to develop a calibrated numerical model of the URM *** with various aspect ratios subjected to various axial stresses are numerically modeled to obtain monotonic and cyclic responses,and their critical displacement limit states are *** in the failure modes of masonry piers with variations in the aspect ratio and axial stress are ***-bearing piers exhibit three distinct failure modes:bed sliding,diagonal shear cracking,and flexure,depending on the aspect ratio and axial *** seismic fragility of each pier failure type is examined using nonlinear time history *** results show that bed-sliding piers collapse at extremely low PGA *** failing through diagonal shear cracking also fail at low PGA *** piers can resist seismic forces up to a slightly higher PGA level and thus are the last to *** results also indicate that the effect of uncertainty in ground motions is more significant than the effect of variability in the masonry pier capacities.

The fiber content of tomato juice (Tj) may serve as a suitable matrix for protecting probiotics bacteria (PB). The objectives of this study were to: (1) investigate the viability of PB in Tj, namely, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus (LG), Lacticaseibacillus casei (LC), and co-culture (LCG) during storage conditions and passing through the gastrointestinal tract and (2) determine the antioxidant activity and physicochemical stability of probiotic tomato juice (TjP) for 20-day refrigerated storage. Tj was separately fermented with single culture LG or LC or co-culture LCG at 37 °C for 72 h. Scanning electron micrographs showed PB immobilized with fibers in Tj, which indicated that PB was protected in Tj. When TjP was exposed to simulated gastric and intestinal fluids, viability was greater than 7 log CFU/mL regardless of the strains after 120 min. Counts for LG, LC, and LCG were 8.7, 8.7, and 9.0 log CFU/mL, respectively, after 20-day storage. Tj without probiotics had the least lycopene content after 20-day storage. The antioxidant capacity of TjP was not significantly different (p jP could survive, and TjP maintained the antioxidant activity during the storage.

Nature is a rich source of medicinal plants and their products that are useful for treatment of various diseases and disorders. Momordica charantia, commonly known as bitter melon or bitter gourd, is one of such plants known for its biological activities used in traditional system of medicines. This plant is cultivated in all over the world, including tropical areas of Asia, Amazon, east Africa, and the Caribbean and used as a vegetable as well as folk medicine. All parts of the plant, including the fruit, are commonly consumed and cooked with different vegetables, stir-fried, stuffed or used in small quantities in soups or beans to give a slightly bitter flavor and taste. The plant is reported to possess anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-bacterial, anti-obesity, and immunomodulatory activities. The plant extract inhibits cancer cell growth by inducing apoptosis, cell cycle arrest, autophagy and inhibiting cancer stem cells. The plant is rich in bioactive chemical constituents like cucurbitane type triterpenoids, triterpene glycosides, phenolic acids, flavonoids, essential oils, saponins, fatty acids, and proteins. Some of the isolated compounds （Kuguacin j, Karaviloside XI, Kuguaglycoside C, Momordicoside Q-U, Charantin, a-eleostearic acid） and proteins （a-Momorcharin, RNase MC2, MAP30） possess potent biological activity. In the present review, we are summarizing the anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer activities of Momordica charantia along with a short account of important chemical constituents, providing a basis for establishing detail biological activities of the plant and developing novel drug molecules based on the active chemical constituents.

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have great potential to be the next major energy storage devices due to their obvious advantages and developing advanced electrodes and electrolytes is urgently necessary to promote its future ***,hard carbon as a state-of-the-art anode of SIBs still suffers from the low initial Coulomb efficiency and unsatisfactory rate capability,which could be improved by forming desirable solid electrolyte interphases (SEI) to some ***,the chemistry and morphology of these interfacial layers are fundamental parameters affecting the overall battery operation,and optimizing the electrolyte to dictate the quality of SEI on hard carbon is a key ***,this review summarizes the recent research on SEI design by electrolyte manipulation from solvents,salts,and *** also presents some potential mechanisms of SEI formation in various electrolyte ***,the current advanced characterization techniques for electrolyte and SEI structure analyses have been comprehensively ***,current challenges and future perspectives of SEI formation on hard carbon anode for SIBs are provided from the viewpoints of its compositions,evolution processes,structures,and characterization techniques,which will promote SEI efficient manipulation and improve the performance of hard carbon,and further contribute to the development of SIBs.
