new curative and preventative approaches with high therapeutic efficacy and minimal side effects are needed for many forms of ***,the current study aimed to assess the cytotoxic and antioxidant capacity of Smilax excelsa and Aegopodium podagraria,which are consumed on a daily diet in the Black Sea region of Turkiye,as well as their phytochemical composition to pinpoint the compounds responsible for these *** effects of the treatments on human prostate(PC3),colorectal(HCT116),and lung(A549)carcinoma cell survival and free radical scavenging potentials were *** phenolic and flavonoid contents and significant phenolic compounds were detected and quantified by *** extracts reduced cell viability in all cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner,while the most potent cytotoxic effects were noted on PC3 *** inhibited cell growth on PC3 cells at both lower and higher concentrations(50-1000μg/mL)compared with the control(pnol extract exhibited the strongest ABTS and DPPH free radical scavenging capacities,with the IC50 values of 17.16 and 45.81μg/mL,*** highest amounts of total phenolics and flavonoids,as well as chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid,were also observed in *** methanol *** results suggest that *** and ***,along with the isolated compounds,may contribute to the treatment of prostate *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first study analyzing the impacts of these plants on PC3,HCT116,and A549 cells.

Many plants pollinated by nectar-foraging animals have to maintain a balance between legitimate visitor attraction strategies and mechanisms that minimize illegitimate *** study investigated how floral display and neighboring species composition influences nectar robbing by hummingbirds in the tropical ornithophilous herb Heliconia *** tested the role of inflorescence display,flower abundance,and neighboring species in the reduction of nectar robbing in *** results indicate that nectar robbing hummingbird activity was higher in moderately large inflorescence displays and that the frequency of nectar robbing in *** decreases with increased flower abundance and the presence of neighboring plant *** non-ornithophilous plants decreased the frequency of nectar robbing in *** flowers to a greater extent than ornithophilous *** results suggest that nectar robbing hummingbirds are attracted to similar conditions that attract legitimate visitors and that spatial aggregation and mixed-species displays may represent a mechanism to dilute nectar robbing effects at an individual level.

Innovative food and feed products have recently attracted the attention of both producers and *** fungi are important biomass producers with their high protein *** this study,fungal biomass production from edible potato protein liquor (PPL),generated during starch production processes,was investigated through different fungal strains (Rhizopus oryzae ,*** ,*** ,Aspergillus oryzae and neurospora intermedia ).The effects of PPL concentration,incubation time,initial pH,and cultivation conditions (in shake flaks and different scale reactors) were examined to determine the amount of biomass and its crude protein *** was determined that the fungal biomass produced by *** in industrial scale contained 53% crude *** this strain,the amino acid and fatty acid profiles as well as metals (iron,manganese,copper,and zinc) of the produced biomass were also investigated to assess possible use as a food or feed *** *** fungal biomass can be a promising raw material for feed and food production,for example,considering its protein and fatty acid profiles with 41% essential amino acids and 33% polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Fish processing towards production of fillet gives rise to wastewater streams that are ultimately directed to biogas production and/or wastewater ***,these wastewater streams are rich in minerals,fat,and proteins that can be converted to protein-rich feed ingredients through submerged cultivation of edible filamentous *** this study,the origin of wastewater stream,initial pH,cultivation time,and extent of washing during sieving,were found to influence the amount of recovered material from the wastewater streams and its protein content,following cultivation with Aspergillus *** culti-vation of the filamentous fungus in sludge,330 kg of material per ton of COD were recovered by sieving,corresponding to 121 kg protein per ton of COD,while through its cultivation in salt brine,210 kg of material were recovered per ton of COD,corresponding to 128 kg protein per ton of *** ranges of 12-43%,39-92%,and 32-66%for COD,total solids,and nitrogen,respectively,were obtained after *** growth and harvesting in the wastewater ***,the present study shows the versatility that the integration of fungal cultivation provides to fish processing industries,and should be complemented by economic,environmental,and feeding studies,in order to reveal the most promising valorization strategy.
