Binary fluorozirconate glassZrF_(4)·BaF_(2) has been studied by molecular dynamical simulation using parameter-free Gordon-Kim *** these simulations a novel technique is employed to monitor the motion of ions,thus the structure pictures of glass and the microscopic motion mechanism of ionic conduction are clearly and directly *** glass networks commonly are formed by ZrF8,ZrF7 or ZrF6 polyhedra,cross linked by Ba-F ionic *** mean distance of the ionic nearest neighboring at 300K is about 3.90Å(Zr-Zr),3.87Å(Zr-Ba),and 1.96Å(Zr-F).The two stronger peaks of five main peaks of vibrational spectra are at about 540-600 and 460-510cm^(-1) and three weaker peaks at about 386-416,322-348,and 183-196cm^(-1).The other properties of glass:density,thermal expansion coefficient,polarization,and glass transition temperature are also examined.

Background:One-third of veterans returning from the 1990–1991 Gulf War reported a myriad of symptoms including cognitive dysfunction,skin rashes,musculoskeletal discomfort,and *** symptom cluster is now referred to as Gulf War Illness(GWI).As the underlying mechanisms of GWI have yet to be fully elucidated,diagnosis and treatment are based on symptomatic *** confounding factor tied to the illness is the high presence of post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD).Previous research efforts have demonstrated that both GWI and PTSD are associated with immunological *** such,this research endeavor aimed to provide insight into the complex relationship between GWI symptoms,cytokine presence,and immune cell populations to pinpoint the impact of PTSD on these measures in ***:Symptom measures were gathered through the Multidimensional fatigue inventory(MFI)and 36-item short form health survey(SF-36)scales and biological measures were obtained through cytokine&cytometry *** was conducted using Davidson Trauma Scale scores and the Structured Clinical Interview for Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders(DSM)-5,into GWI with high probability of PTSD symptoms(GWIH)and GWI with low probability of PTSD symptoms(GWIL).Data was analyzed using analysis of variance(ANOVA)statistical analysis along with correlation graph *** mapped correlations between immune cells and cytokine signaling measures,hormones and GWI symptom measures to identify patterns in regulation between the GWIH,GWIL,and healthy control ***:GWI with comorbid PTSD symptoms resulted in poorer health outcomes compared with both healthy control(HC)and the GWIL *** differences were found in basophil levels of GWI compared with HC at peak exercise regardless of PTSD symptom comorbidity(ANOVA F=4.7,P=0.01)indicating its potential usage as a biomarker for general GWI from *** the unique identification of GWI with P

Objective To determine the increase of apoptosis and the decrease of smooth muscle cells (SMCs) density in human abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). Methods In situ terminal transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) was employed to detect apoptosis of SMCs in patients with AAA (n=25) and normal abdominal aortae (n=10). Positive cells were identified by specific cell marker in combination with immunohistochemistry. Meanwhile SMC counting was performed by anti-α-actin immunohistostaining to compare the SMC density. results TUNEL staining revealed that there was significantly increased apoptosis in AAAs (average 8.6%) compared with normal abdominal aortae (average 0.95%, P re SMCs. Counting of α-actin positive SMCs revealed that medial SMC density of AAAs (37.5±7.6 SMCs /HPF) was reduced by 79.1% in comparison with that of normal abdominal aortae (179.2±16.1 SMCs /HPF,P reased SMCs of AAA bear apoptotic markers initiating cell death. Elevated apoptosis may result in a decreased density of SMCs in AAA,which may profoundly influence the development of AAA.

Testing CVC and CKM Unitarity via Superallowed Nuclear Beta Decay

Superallowed nuclear beta decay between 0^+analog states is a sensitive probe of the weak interaction, with the established strength – or F t value – of each such transition being a direct measure of the vector coupling constant, GV. Each transition's F t value depends on the half-life of the parent nucleus as well as on the Q-value and branching ratio for the transition of interest. It also depends on small(~1%) transition-dependent theoretical corrections, of which the most sensitive accounts for isospin symmetry breaking. We have recently published a new survey of world superallowed-decay data, which establishes the F t values of 14 separate superallowed transitions to a precision of order 0.1% or *** results from this very robust data set yield the value of Vud, the up-down quark mixing element of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa(CKM) matrix, and lead to the most demanding test available of CKM unitarity. The survey results and their outcome are described, as is the current direction of experiments that focus on testing the validity of the isospin-symmetry-breaking corrections.

This study examines the transaction costs of collaborative watershed management in the Cuyahoga river Area of Concern(AOC)—one of the 43 geographic areas designated by the *** Canada Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement(GLWQA),where significant impairment of beneficial uses has occurred as a result of human *** Cuyahoga river is located in Northeast Ohio,the *** flows through the City of Cleveland before draining into Lake Erie—one of the five Great Lakes of North *** watershed is degraded due to municipal and agricultural discharges,streambank erosion,and contamination from urban and industrial *** research explores how a diverse group of stakeholders convened under the Cuyahoga river AOC Advisory Committee to share information,coordinate activities,agree on activities that restore beneficial uses,and support strategic management *** this study,23 semi-structured interviews with members of the advisory committee were conducted between january 28,2020 and April 20,2020,with follow-up emails and phone calls as needed to corroborate information.A review of research articles and government documents supported the interviews,including United States Environmental Protection Agency(***)and Ohio Environment Production Agency(OEPA)reports on the GLWQA and Cuyahoga river remedial Action Plans.A third source of data is from direct participant observation at quarterly meetings of the advisory committee during 2017–2020,binational AOC conferences in 2017 and 2019,and other professional events geared towards restoring the Cuyahoga river AOC in 2016–*** of this study include a set of recommendations to help guide group structure and decision-making processes,including(1)employing best available technology to organize AOC events and disseminate information;(2)supporting new members with an orientation and/or mentor to clearly define formal and informal committee rules;(3)assuring equal access to detailed information on managem

A coupled model integrating MODFLOW and TOPNET with the models interacting through the exchange of recharge and baseflow and river-aquifer interactions was developed and applied to the Big Darby Watershed in Ohio, USA. Calibration and validation results show that there is generally good agreement between measured streamflow and simulated results from the coupled model. At two gauging stations, average goodness of fit （ r2 ）, percent bias （ PB ）, and Nash Sutcliffe efficiency （ENS） values of 0.83, 11.15%, and 0.83, respectively, were obtained for simulation of streamflow during calibration, and values of 0.84, 8.75%, and 0.85, respectively, were obtained for validation. The simulated water table depths yielded average r2 valuesof0.77 and 0.76 for calibration and validation, respectively. The good match between measured and simulated streamflows and water table depths demonstrates that the model is capable of adequately simulating streamflows and water table depths in the watershed and also capturing the influence of spatial and temporal variation in recharge.
