Novel Block Chain Technique for Data Privacy and Access Anonymity in Smart Healthcare

The Internet of Things (IoT) and Cloud computing are gaining popularity due to their numerous advantages, including the efficient utilization of internetand computing resources. In recent years, many more IoT applications have beenextensively used. For instance, Healthcare applications execute computations utilizing the user’s private data stored on cloud servers. However, the main obstaclesfaced by the extensive acceptance and usage of these emerging technologies aresecurity and privacy. Moreover, many healthcare data management system applications have emerged, offering solutions for distinct circumstances. But still, theexisting system has issues with specific security issues, privacy-preserving rate,information loss, etc. Hence, the overall system performance is reduced significantly. A unique blockchain-based technique is proposed to improve anonymityin terms of data access and data privacy to overcome the above-mentioned ***, the registration phase is done for the device and the user. After that, theGeo-Location and IP Address values collected during registration are convertedinto Hash values using Adler 32 hashing algorithm, and the private and publickeys are generated using the key generation centre. Then the authentication is performed through login. The user then submits a request to the blockchain server,which redirects the request to the associated IoT device in order to obtain thesensed IoT data. The detected data is anonymized in the device and stored inthe cloud server using the Linear Scaling based Rider Optimization algorithmwith integrated KL Anonymity (LSR-KLA) approach. After that, the Time-stamp-based Public and Private Key Schnorr Signature (TSPP-SS) mechanismis used to permit the authorized user to access the data, and the blockchain servertracks the entire transaction. Impact of patch size on woody tree species richness and abundance in a tropical montane evergreen forest patches of south India

We examined the effects of forest patch size on woody tree species richness and abundance in tropical montane evergreen forest patches of the Nilgiri region,south India. We sampled woody trees(>1 cm dbh) from 21 forest patches in the upper Nilgiri hills(> 2000 m elevation) and recorded a total of 35,146 individuals of 61 species, 45 genera and 30 families. Species richness and abundance of sapling/shrubs(≥ 1 to jor role in determining the inherent plant community and thus the subsequent ecological processes of forest patches, including their responses to increasing patch area.

Probing the degradation of pharmaceuticals in urine using MFC and studying their removal efficiency by UPLC-MS/MS

Nutrient recovery from source-separated human urine has attracted interest as it is rich in nitrogen and phosphorus that can be utilized as ***,urine also contains pharmaceuticals,steroid hormones,*** their removal is crucial as they have detrimental effects on the environment and human *** current study focuses on investigating the degradation of pharmaceuticals using a double-chamber microbial fuel cell(MFC).Urine was spiked with four pharmaceuticals(trimethoprim,lamivudine,levofloxacin,and estrone)at a concentration of 2 mg/*** MFC was operated for 7 months in batch mode with this spiked urine as *** degradation efficiency of the MFC was studied,for which a selective liquid chromatography-tandem mass-spectrometric method was developed for the quantitation of compounds used in the spiking experiments and was validated with a lower limit of quantification of 0.39 ng/*** maximum removal rate achieved was 96%±2%.The degradation mechanism involved processes like sorption and anoxic *** voltage curve obtained showed that the presence of pharmaceuticals had an initial negative impact on power generation along with increased organic content;however,after the reactor acclimatization,increased power output was achieved with maximum organics removal at 30 h of retention *** work opens a new perspective for the anoxic biodegradation of pharmaceuticals and can be useful in future bioremediation studies.

Seasonal Dynamics of Turbidity Maximum in the Muthupet Estuary, India

Results are presented of the longitudinal and vertical profiling of salinity and suspended particulate matter(SPM) at the Muthupet estuary, India, during a one year period under widely varying freshwater flow conditions. Freshwater flow was available during post-monsoon and monsoon. An up-estuary shift in the location of estuarine turbidity maxima(ETM) was observed during the transition from post-monsoon to pre-monsoon and further it shifted downstream during the transition from pre-monsoon to monsoon, thereby exhibiting a pronounced seasonal cycle. The salinity intrusion was dependent on the freshwater discharge and was expressed as a power function of freshwater flow, explaining 97% of the variance. The formation of a salt plug in Muthupet estuary and its seasonal dynamics were observed, which is not an identified feature of any of the Indian estuaries studied so far. The geographical positions of salt plug and ETM core were more or less the same during their formation. The occurrence of two ETM during the LW of post-monsoon and the absence of ETM during monsoon explains the strong seasonal variation in the formation of ETM. The primary factor affecting the formation of ETM was identified as the freshwater flow over an annual cycle; the resuspension of sediments by tidal current affecting the formation on a flood/ebb cycle was secondary. The extent of shift of ETM was found to be an inverse logarithmic function of the freshwater discharge. The separation between ETM intrusion and salinity intrusion increased two fold with the increase in ETM intrusion.

Validation of reference genes for gene expression studies in the emerald ash borer （Agrilus planipennis）

The Emerald ash borer （EAB, Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire） an exotic invasive insect pest has killed millions of ash trees （Fraxinus spp.） across North America and threatens billions more. We validated six A. planipennis reference genes （actin, ACT; beta tubulin, E-TUB; glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, GAPDH ; ribosomal protein, RPL7; translation elongation factor 1~, TEF-la; and ubiquitin, UBQ） using geNorm, Normfinder and BestKeeper for accurate determination of target messenger RNA levels in gene expression studies. The stability of the six reference genes was evaluated in different larval tissues, developmental stages and two treatments ofA. planipennis using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Although there was no consistent ranking observed among the reference genes across the samples, the overall analysis revealed TEF-la as the most stable reference gene. GAPDH and ACT showed least stability for all the samples studied. We conclude that TEF-I~ is the most appropriate reference gene for gene expression studies in A. planipennis. Results obtained can be applicable for transcript profiling in other invasive insect pests. Further, these validated reference genes could also serve as the basis for selection of candidate reference genes in any given insect system post-validation.

mRNA profiles of piRNA pathway genes in emerald ash borer Agrilus planipennis

Recent advances of Piwi-interacting RNAs （piRNAs） have enabled a better understanding of their putative roles in the protection of gerrn cells against selfish genetic elements. The germ plasm proteins namely, PIWI and VASA, are key players in regulation of piRNAs. However, the biogenesis of piRNAs remains poorly understood. We report the characterization and the transcript profiles of a PIWI and VASA gene in various tissues and developmental stages of the emerald ash borer （Agrilusplanipennis）, an exotic invasive insect pest that has attained a high impact status worldwide. The deduced amino acid sequences of both these genes （herein referred to ＂ApPIWI and ApVASA＂） revealed homology with similar proteins from other insect and non-insect taxa. Peak transcript levels for ApPIWI and ApVASA were observed in the ovaries （compared to the other tissues assayed） and in adults （compared to the other developmental stages assayed）. To our knowledge this is the first report of profiling piRNA pathway genes in A. planipennis. These results provide new insights into the putative function of the PIWI and VASA proteins in insects.

The First Photometric and Spectroscopic Study of Contact Binary V2840 Cygni

The first photometric,spectroscopic and period variation studies of neglected short-period eclipsing binary V2840Cygni are *** mass ratio contact binaries(HMRCBs),especially those in the weak-contact configuration,are vital when probing the evolutionary models of contact binaries(CBs) using stellar *** photometric solutions reveal the weak-contact nature of V2840 Cygni with a high mass ratio(~1.36),motivating us to investigate the nature of such *** period variation study of V2840 Cygni spanning 15 yr shows a secular period decrease at a rate of ~5.5 × 10^(-7) day yr^(-1),indicating mass transfer between the *** superimposed cyclic variation provides a basic understanding of the possible third body(P_(3)- 8 yr,m_(3)- 0.51 M_(⊙)).Following the derived parameters,the evolution of the system is discussed based on the thermal relaxation oscillation(TRO) *** is found that V2840 Cygni falls in a special category of HMRCBs,which validates *** characterize the nature of HMRCBs,a catalog of 59 CBs with high mass ratios has been compiled along with their derived parameters from the *** all the HMRCBs in the study,a possible correlation between their contact configuration and observed period variations for relative log j_(rel) is *** spectroscopic study of V2840 Cygni provides evidence of the presence of magnetic activity in the system and the existence of ongoing mass transfer which is additionally deduced from the period variation *** LAMOST spectra of 17 HMRCBs are collected to interpret the stellar magnetic activity in such systems.
