Impact of extended-infusion piperacillin-tazobactam in a Canadian community hospital

Background:Studies have demonstrated improved clinical outcomes with extended infusion(EI)piperacillin/tazobactam(TZp)compared to standard infusion(SI).However,there is less evidence on its benefits in noncritically-ill ***-wide EI TZp was implemented at our site on February 21,*** objectives were to compare clinical,safety and economic outcomes between EI and SI ***:A retrospective cohort study of all adult patients who received EI TZp(3.375 g IV q8h infused over 4 hours and SI TZp for≥48 hours during 3 years pre-and postimplementation was *** primary study outcome was 14-day mortality while secondary outcomes included length of hospital stay(LOS),nursing plus pharmacy cost,occurrence of Clostridioides difficile infection,readmission within 30 days and change in pseudomonas aeruginosa minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)distribution for *** primary outcome and binary secondary outcomes were analyzed using a logistic regression *** was examined using time to event *** was examined using linear regression ***:Overall,2034 patients received EI TZp and 1364 patients received SI *** TZp was associated with lower odds of mortality(OR 0.76,95%CI 0.63-0.91),lower odds of *** infection(OR 0.59,95%CI 0.41-0.84)and 8%lower cost(estimate 0.92,95%CI 0.87-0.98)compared to SI ***:Hospital-wide implementation of EI TZp was associated with lower odds of 14-day mortality and incidence of *** infection with cost savings at our institution.

particle size, textural and surface characteristics influence some major technological properties of high siliceous aluminosilicate zeolite and sillicoaluminophosphate （SApO） microporous materials. A comparative study was furnished for measuring surface characteristics, particle size and particle size distribution using particle size analyzer （pSA） and scanning electron microscope （SEM）. The pSA is capable of measuring particle diameter in micron range. The results of these techniques for estimation of particle size were compared and correlated statistically. Student t-test and variance ratio test （F-test） methods were performed for the significance of results by the analysis of variance （AnOnA） and multiple-range tests. Textural and surface characteristics were evaluated by Brunauer, Emmett ＆ Teller （BET） volumetric technique and v-αs plotting method. The textural results shows that the external surface area and micropore volume of microporous materials were higher than those of the high siliceous zeolites and its zeotype materials.

Here we review how evolving species concepts have been applied to understand yeast ***,a phenotypic species concept was utilized taking into consideration morphological aspects of colonies and cells,and growth *** the biological species concept was added,which applied data from mating *** measurements of DnA similarity between isolates were an early measure that became more broadly applied with the advent of sequencing technology,leading to a sequence-based species concept using comparisons of parts of the ribosomal *** present phylogenetic species concepts that employ sequence data of rDnA and other genes are universally applied in fungal taxonomy,including yeasts,because various studies revealed a relatively good correlation between the biological species concept and sequence *** application of genome information is becoming increasingly common,and we strongly recommend the use of complete,rather than draft genomes to improve our understanding of species and their genome and genetic *** genomes allow in-depth comparisons on the evolvability of genomes and,consequently,of the species to which they *** seems a relatively common phenomenon and has been observed in all major fungal lineages that contain *** that hybrids may greatly differ in their post-hybridization *** in-depth studies,initially using some model species or complexes may shift the traditional species concept as isolated clusters of genetically compatible isolates to a cohesive speciation network in which such clusters are interconnected by genetic processes,such as hybridization.

High-power-density electron beam with single pulse was performed on the LD11R aluminum alloy. The electron beam was focused on three typical positions. For each case, the distribution of the solute concentration at the cavity bottom solid-liquid interface was investigated by using the 'rapidly fixing' method. The interaction of the beam and solute atoms was analyzed. A new mechanism of explosive vaporization was proposed based on the present results. The occurrence of this explosive vaporization source was discussed.

When a moderately stable phase is precipitated out during an intemal reaction, the behaviour of the penetrating atoms within the diffusion zone can be interpreted based on thermodynamic considerations. Evidence for “up-hill” diffusion of the penetrating species through the matrix towards the precipitation front during the intemal nitridation of ni-Cr alloys at 1125℃ and 6000 bar of n2-pressure was predicted. Such behaviour of nitrogen is opposite to the boundary conditions in Wagner＇s description of internal reactions. A volume change associated with the precipitation reaction resulted in a stress gradient between the alloys surface and the intemal nitridation front. Stress relief occurred mainly by transport of nickel to the gas/metal interface. pipe diffusion-controlled creep is the dominant stress accommodation mechanism during nitriding of dilute ni-Cr alloys at 700℃ under a flowing nH3 ＋ H2 gas mixture.

Flow hydrodynamics in embankment breach

Breaching flow occurs during the breach development of the embankment, dike, earthen dam, landslide barrier, etc. and plays an import role in the breaching erosion as the driving force. According to the previous research, the breaching process can be classified into initiation phase, breach widening phase and breach deepening phase. Based on the breaching development classifications, the breaching flow can be seen as a special compound weir flow when the breach channel is in the relatively equilibrium condition. There were five physical flow models were designed in the hypothesis of rectangular shape and trapezoidal shape for the breach channel cross sections to study the breaching flow characteristics. The distributions of water level and velocity were measured and analysed in the breaching flows in overtopping condition and emerged condition. There were two helicoidal flows above the breach channel slopes and triangular hydraulic jump in the downstream of the breach channel in the overtopping condition and emerged condition. The hydraulic energy loss was calculated according to the breaching velocity and water level distribution in the upstream and downstream of the model. It is found that the test results of the breach flow physical model can be valuable to bring insight of the breaching process of embankment and make contributions to the validations and verifications of breach numerical models.

Thixoforging is a type of semi-solid metal processing at high solid fraction (0.7nvolves the processing of alloys in the semi-solid *** has to be adapted to this particular process to benefit shear thinning and thixotropic behaviour of such semi-solid *** parameters, such as the forming speed and tool temperature, have to be accurately controlled because of their influence on thermal exchanges between material flow and *** thermal exchanges influence the high-cracking tendency and the rheology of the semi-solid material during forming, which affects parts properties and therefore their *** tests show how thermal exchanges influence quality of thixoforged parts made of 7075 aluminium alloys at high solid fraction by modifying process parameters like forming speed, tool temperature and tool thermal *** an optimum in terms of thermal exchanges has to be found between surface quality and mechanical properties of the part.A direct application is the evaluation of surface quality of thixoforged thin wall parts made of 7075 aluminium alloy.
