A novel wavy non-uniform ligament chiral stent with j-shaped stress-strain behavior to mimic the native trachea

Tracheal stents are an important form of treatment for benign or malignant central airway ***,the mechanical behavior of current tracheal stents is significantly different from that of the native trachea,which leads to a variety of serious *** this study,inspired by the structure of the native trachea,a wavy non-uniform ligament chiral tracheal stent is proposed,in which j-shaped stress-strain behavior and negative Poisson's ratio response are achieved by replacing the tangential ligament of tetrachiral and anti-tetrachiral hybrid structure with a wavy non-uniform *** the combination of theoretical analysis,finite element analysis and experimental tests,a wide range of desired j-shaped stress-strain curves are explored to mimic the native porcine trachea by tailoring the stent ***,the negative Poisson’s ratio and auxetic diameter curves versus axial strain of the stent are also studied in detail,thus contributing to the enhancement of cross-section ventilation and reducing the migration of the *** novel tracheal stent with a unique microstructure shows a potential to perfectly match the physiological activities of the native trachea and thereby reduce potential complications.

采用原位聚合法以石蜡为储热芯材、二氧化钛和壳聚糖的杂化壳体为壁材、石墨烯微片(GNP)作导热填料制备一种结构稳定的防泄漏相变微胶囊。采用电镜扫描(SEM)、傅里叶红外光谱(FTIR)、热重分析法(TGA)、差示扫描量热法(DSC)和导热系数测试仪研究不同芯壳比、GNP填充量对微胶囊的微观结构、表面官能团、热稳定性、相变性能和导热性能的影响。结果表明:制得微胶囊的结构致密防泄漏性能良好,微胶囊相变潜热最高达到134.78 j/g,对应包覆率为75.51%,GNP的加入使微胶囊的导热系数提高261.5%。

Type A aortic dissection(AD)is one of the most serious cardiovascular diseases,whose risk predictors are con*** purpose of this research was to investigate how elongation accompanied by dilation of the ascending aorta(AAo)affects the relevant haemodynamic characteristics using image-based computational *** elongated AAos with different levels of dilation have been reconstructed based on the centerlines data of an elderly and an AD *** simulations have been performed assuming an inflow waveform and a Windkessel model with three elements for all outflow *** numerical results have revealed that the elongation of AAo can disturb the systolic helical flow pattern between the root of AAo and the aortic *** helical flow inside the AAo starts to develop into a vortex flow when the elongated AAo becomes *** vortex gives rise to a localized oscillatory shear index at the ostia of the brachiocephalic artery(BA)and the inner curve of the aortic *** study suggests that abnormal growth of AAo,especially accompanied by its moderate dilation,can be considered as morphological risk factors of AD.

Geographical distribution of GmTfl1 alleles in Chinese soybean varieties

Stem growth habit is an important agronomic trait in soybean and is subject to artificial selection. This study aimed to provide a theory for genotypic selection of stem growth habit for breeding purposes by analyzing the alleles of Gm Tfl1 gene in Chinese soybean varieties and establishing a database of Gm Tfl1 variation. Using knowledge of insertion and deletion(Indel) in the non-coding region and four single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) in the coding sequences of the Gm Tfl1 gene, four CAPS and one Indel markers were developed and used to test 1120 Chinese soybean varieties. We found that the dominant Gm Tfl1 allele was prevalent in accessions from the Northern ecoregion, whereas the recessive allele, Gmtfl1, was more common in the Southern ecoregion, and the proportions of Gm Tfl1 and recessive alleles were respectively 40.1% and 59.9% in the Huang-Huai ecoregion. The proportion of Gm Tfl1 decreased and that of Gmtfl1 increased, gradually from north to south. Allele Gm Tfl1-a was present in higher proportions in the Huang-Huai spring, Huang-Huai summer, and Northern spring sub-ecoregions than that in the other sub-ecoregions. Gm Tfl1-b was common in the Northeast spring, Northern spring and Southern summer sub-ecoregions. Gmtfl1-ta was found mainly in the Huang-Huai spring,Huang-Huai summer and Southern spring sub-ecoregions. The Gmtfl1-ab allele was distributed in all six soybean sub-ecoregions. The Gmtfl1-bb allele was distributed mainly in the Huang-Huai spring and summer and Southern spring and summer sub-ecoregions,but the Gmtfl1-tb allele was detected only in the Huang-Huai summer sub-ecoregion. The distributions of Gm Tfl1 and Gmtfl1 have shown no large changes in nearly 60 years of breeding, but the frequency of the recessive genotype Gmtfl1 has shown a rising trend in the last 20 years. This study provides a theoretical foundation for breeding new soybean varieties for different ecoregions.

Prospective study of Centurion~？ versus Infiniti~？ phacoemulsification systems： surgical and visual outcomes

AIM： To evaluate surgical outcomes（SOs） and visual outcomes（VOs） in cataract surgery comparing the Centurion？ phacoemulsification system（CPS） with the Infiniti？ phacoemulsification system（IPS）.METHODS： Prospective, consecutive study in a singlesite private practice. Totally 412 patients undergoing cataract surgery with either the CPS using the 30-degree balanced？ tip（n=207） or the IPS using the 30-degree Kelman？ tip（n=205）. Intraoperative and postoperative outcomes were documented prospectively up to one month follow-up. Nuclear sclerosis（NS） grade, cumulated dissipated energy（CDE）, preoperative corrected distance visual acuity（CDVA）, and CDVA at one month were recorded. RESULTS： CDE was 13.50% less in the whole CPS compared with the whole IPS subcohort. In eyes with NS grade III or greater, CDE was 28.87% less with CPS（n=70） compared with IPS（n=44）（P=0.010）. Surgical complications were not statistically different between the two subcohorts（P=0.083）, but in the one case of vitreous loss using the CPS, CDVA of 6/4 was achieved at one month. The mean CDVAs（VOs） at one month for NS grade III and above cataracts were-0.17 log MAR（6/4.5） in the CPS and-0.15 log MAR（6/4.5） in the IPS subcohort respectively（P=0.033）.CONCLUSION： CDE is 28.87% less, and VOs are significantly improved, in denser cataracts in the CPS compared with the IPS. The authors recommend the CPS for cases with denser nuclei.

Phylogeny of higher taxa of hexapoda according to 12sRNA sequences

The phylogenetic relationship of Hexapoda has been debated for a long time, which will be resolved mainly depending on the settlement of monophyly, affinities and interrelationships among Protura, Collembola and Diplura. Mitochondrial 12sRNA gene about 355 bp fragments from one proturan species, two collembolan species, two dipluran species and one oribatid species were sequenced. The Ki-mura 2-parameter distances were calculated and a series of molecular phylogenetic trees were reconstructed by using the N-j method, from which the following points were drawn: (i) Protura and Collembola compose a monophyletic group representing absent-cerci; (ii) Diplura is not a monophyletic group, in which Campodeoid with filiform cerci belongs to a clade and japygoid with pincer cerci and Ectognatha compose another clade, that is, Insecta s. str. stemmed from japygoid. The compositional design of metallic glasses(MGs)is a long-standing issue in materials science and ***,traditional experimental approaches based on empirical rules are time consuming with a low *** this work,we successfully developed a hybrid machine learning(ML)model to address this fundamental issue based on a database containing~5000 different compositions of metallic glasses(either bulk or ribbon)reported since *** the prior works relying on empirical parameters for featurization of data,we designed modeling guided data descriptors in line with the recent theoretical models on amorphization in chemically complex alloys for the development of the hybrid classification-regression ML *** hybrid ML modeling was validated both numerically and *** importantly,it enabled the discovery of MGs(either bulk or ribbon)through the ML-aided deep search of a multitude of quaternary to scenery alloy *** computational framework herein established is expected to accelerate the design of MG compositions and expand their applications by probing the complex and multi-dimensional compositional space that has never been explored before.

Drug response biomarkers of Pien Tze Huang(片仔癀) treatment for hepatic fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride

Optimization of N18 Zirconium Alloy for Fuel Cladding of Water Reactors

In order to optimize the microstructure and composition of N18 zirconium alloy （Zr-1Sn-0.35Nb-0.35Fe-0.1Cr, in mass fraction, %）, which was developed in China in 1990s, the effect of microstructure and composition variation on the corrosion resistance of the N18 alloy has been investigated. The autoclave corrosion tests were carried out in super heated steam at 400 ~C/10.3 MPa, in deionized water or lithiated water with 0.01 mol/L LiOH at 360 ~C/18.6 MPa. The exposure time lasted for 300-550 days according to the test temperature. The results show that the microstructure with a fine and uniform distribution of second phase particles （SPPs）, and the decrease of Sn content from 1% （in mass fraction, the same as follows） to 0.8% are of benefit to improving the corrosion resistance; It is detrimental to the corrosion resistance if no Cr addition. The addition of Nb content with upper limit （0.35%） is beneficial to improving the corrosion resistance. The addition of Cu less than 0.1% shows no remarkable influence upon the corrosion resistance for N18 alloy. Comparing the corrosion resistance of the optimized N18 with other commercial zirconium alloys, such as Zircaloy-4, ZIRLO, E635 and Ell0, the former shows superior corrosion resistance in all autoclave testing conditions mentioned above. Although the data of the corrosion resistance as fuel cladding for high burn-up has not been obtained yet, it is believed that the optimized N18 alloy is promising for the candidate of fuel cladding materials as high burn-up fuel assemblies. Based on the theory that the microstructural evolution of oxide layer during corrosion process will affect the corrosion resistance of zirconium alloys, the improvement of corrosion resistance of the N18 alloy by obtaining the microstructure with nano-size and uniform distribution of SPPs, and by decreasing the content of Sn and maintaining the content of Cr is discussed.
