Recent reports suggest that aging is not solely a physiological process in living beings;instead, it should be considered a pathological process or disease(Amorim et al., 2022). Consequently, this process involves a wide range of factors, spanning from genetic to environmental factors, and even includes the gut microbiome(GM)(Mayer et al., 2022). All these processes coincide at some point in the inflammatory process, oxidative stress, and apoptosis, at different degrees in various organs and systems that constitute a living organism(Mayer et al., 2022;Aguilarhernández et al., 2023).

li_(6)ZnO_(4)was chemically modified by nickel addition,in order to develop different compositions of the solid solution li_(6)Zn_(1-x)Ni_(x)O_(4).These materials were evaluated bifunctionally;analyzing their CO_(2)capture performances,aswell as on their catalytic properties for H_(2)production via dry reforming of methane(DRM).The crystal structures of li_(6)Zn_(1-x)Ni_(x)O_(4)solid solution samples were determined through X-ray diffraction,which confirmed the integration of nickel ions up to a concentration around 20 mol%,meanwhile beyond this value,a secondary phase was *** results were supported by XPS and TEM ***,dynamic and isothermal thermogravimetric analyses of CO_(2)capture revealed that li_(6)Zn_(1-x)Ni_(x)O_(4)solid solution samples exhibited good CO_(2)chemisorption efficiencies,similarly to the pristine li_(6)ZnO_(4)chemisorption trends ***,a kinetic analysis of CO_(2)isothermal chemisorptions,using the Avrami-Erofeev model,evidenced an increment of the constant rates as a function of the Ni *** Ni^(2+)ions incorporation did not reduce the CO_(2)capture efficiency and kinetics,the catalytic properties of thesematerialswere evaluated in the DRM *** demonstrated that nickel ions favored hydrogen(H_(2))production over the pristine li_(6)ZnO_(4)phase,despite a second H2 production reaction was determined,methane ***,li_(6)Zn_(1-x)Ni_(x)O_(4)ceramics can be employed as bifunctional materials.

The extensive use of polymeric materials in single-use packaging has driven the need to develop biodegradable *** study investigates the incorporation of graphene oxide(GO)and Moringa oleifera seed oil(MOSO)into a gelatin matrix to create polymer films and evaluate their potential as active packaging *** properties of these films were evaluated using structural,thermal,mechanical,optical,and physicochemical methods to determine their suitability for food packaging *** results showed that GO and MOSO were homogeneously dispersed in the gelatin matrix,forming colloidal particles(around 5μm in diameter).The addition of GO increased opacity by approximately 20 times the base value while MOSO affected light transmittance without impacting *** properties were affected differently,GO acted as a crosslinking agent reducing elongation and increasing tensile strength at break,on the other hand MOSO acted as a plasticizer,making films more plastic increasing elongation a 30%.These effects counteracted each other,and similar behavior was recorded in differential scanning *** films exhibited an improved water vapor resistance,which is crucial for food *** findings indicate that the incorporation of GO and MOSO into a gelatin matrix may produce biodegradable polymer films with enhanced properties,suitable for active packaging in the food industry.

BACKGROUND: Prehospital medication is a reality, and the role of these therapies must be explored to assess their validity, especially for acute respiratory diseases, which are usually associated with increased morbidity. The aim of this study was to examine the association of prehospital medication use with mortality in patients with acute respiratory ***: A prospective, multicenter, emergency medical service(EMS) delivery cohort study was carried out in adults with unselected respiratory diseases managed by EMS who were transferred to the emergency department. From january 1, 2019, to October 31, 2023, six advanced life support units, thirty-eight basic life support units, and four hospitals in Spain participated in the study. Demographic data, vital signs, use of mechanical ventilation, prehospital respiratory diagnosis, and prehospital medication were collected. The primary outcome was 30-day in-hospital ***: A total of 961 patients were included, with a mortality rate of 17.5%(168 patients). Age, an increasing number of comorbidities, the use of invasive mechanical ventilation(IMV), the use of major analgesics, hypnotics, and bicarbonate were risk factors. In contrast, elevated systolic blood pressure and Glasgow Coma Scale scores were found to be protective factors against mortality. The predictive capacity of the model reached an area under the curve(AUC) of 0.857(95% confidence interval [95% CI] 0.827–0.888).CONClUSION: Our data revealed that IMV, major analgesics, hypnotics and bicarbonate administration were associated with elevated mortality. Adding prehospital drug therapy information to demographic variables and vital signs could improve EMS decision-making, allowing a better characterization of patients at risk of clinical worsening.

A Systematic Review on the Comparison between lumbar Disc hernia Resection by Endoscopy and Microdiscectomy

Background: Surgical treatment of lumbar disc herniation is a widely debated topic, with several techniques available. Percutaneous endoscopic discectomy (PElD) has gained popularity due to its lower invasiveness compared to conventional techniques such as microdiscectomy/open lumbar microdiscectomy (OlMD)/tubular microdiscectomy (TMD). However, evidence on the effectiveness, recovery time and complications of these techniques is not yet clearly established. This systematic review aims to compare the preoperative and postoperative outcomes of both techniques. Methods: A comprehensive search was performed in databases including PubMed and Cochrane, following strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. Comparative studies and narrative reviews on PElD and OlMD/TMD published between 2019 and 2024 were included. Key outcomes considered were pre- and postoperative Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), hospitalization time, time to return to work, and postoperative complications. Results: The reviewed studies indicated that PElD is associated with a greater reduction in postoperative pain compared to OlMD/TMD, with a significant decrease in VAS, according to the study by Priola et al. (2019). The hospital stay was also shorter for patients undergoing PElD, averaging 2 days compared to OlMD/TMD. Furthermore, PElD favored a faster return to work and had a lower rate of postoperative complications, such as dural tears and reoperations, compared to OlMD/TMD. Conclusions: PElD demonstrates clear advantages over OlMD/TMD in terms of pain reduction, shorter hospital stay, faster return to work, and fewer postoperative complications. However, the implementation of this technique requires a significant learning curve, suggesting that its effectiveness may vary depending on the surgeon’s experience. PElD should be considered a preferred option in the resection of lumbar disc herniations, especially in patients seeking a quick and less invasive recovery.
