local resistance characteristics of elbows for supercritical pressure RP-3 flowing in serpentine micro-tubes

Based on the demands of compact heat exchangers and micro cooling channels applied for aviation thermal protection on aero-engines,the elbow localﬂow resistance charac-teristics for supercritical pressure aviation fuel RP-3ﬂowing in adiabatic horizontal serpentine tubes with the inner diameter of 1.8 mm and the massﬂux of 1179 kg/(m^(2)·s)were experimen-tally *** long-short-tube method was used to obtain the elbow pressure drop from the total serpentine tube pressure drop,and the effects of system pressures(P/Pc=1.72-2.58)and geometry parameters including bend numbers(n=5-11),bend diameters(D/d=16.7-27.8),and bend distances(l/d=20-60)on elbow pressure drops and local resistance co-efﬁcients are analyzed on the basis of the thermal physical property *** results show that both the increase in the elbow pressure drop and the decrease in the local resistance coef-ﬁcient with temperatures speed up at the near pseudo-critical temperature region of T>*** the growth of the elbow local pressure drop could be inhibited by the increase of system pressures,while the local resistance coefﬁcient is slightly affected by *** inﬂuence of bend diameters on the local resistance coefﬁcient is mild when D/d is larger than 22.2 in the premise of fully developedﬂow in straight ***,a piecewise empir-ical correlation considering the bend diameter and physical property ratio is developed to pre-dict the elbow pressure drop of the serpentine tube and optimize the layout of the cooling tube system on aero-engines.

The hexaploid sweetpotato(lpomoea batatas)is one of the most important root crops ***,its genetic origin remains controversial,and its domestication history remains *** this study,we used a range of genetic evidence and a newly developed haplotype-based phylogenetic analysis to identify two probable progenitors of *** diploid progenitor was likely closely related to lpomoea ae-quatoriensis and contributed the B,subgenome,IbT-DNA2,and the lineage 1 type of chloroplast genome to *** tetraploid progenitor of sweetpotato was most likely *** 4x,which donated the B2 subgenome,IbT-DNA1,and the lineage 2 type of chloroplast *** most likely originated from reciprocal crosses between the diploid and tetraploid progenitors,followed by a subsequent whole-genome *** addition,we detected biased gene exchanges between the subgenomes;the rate of B,to B2 subgenome conversions was nearly three times higher than that of B2 to B subgenome *** analyses revealed that genes involved in storage root formation,maintenance of genome stabil-ity,biotic resistance,sugar transport,and potassium uptake were selected during the speciation and domestication of *** study sheds light on the evolution of sweetpotato and paves the way forimprovementofthiscrop.

Development and validation of multicentre study on novel Artificial Intelligence-based Cardiovascular Risk Score(AICVD)

Objective Cardiovascular diseases(CVD)are one of the most prevalent diseases in India amounting for nearly 30%of total deaths.A dearth of research on CVD risk scores in Indian population,limited performance of conventional risk scores and inability to reproduce the initial accuracies in randomised clinical trials has led to this study on large-scale patient *** objective is to develop an Artificial Intelligence-based Risk Score(AICVD)to predict CVD event(eg,acute myocardial infarction/acute coronary syndrome)in the next 10 years and compare the model with the Framingham Heart Risk Score(FHRS)and *** Our study included 31599 participants aged 18–91 years from 2009 to 2018 in six Apollo Hospitals in India.A multistep risk factors selection process using Spearman correlation coefficient and propensity score matching yielded 21 risk factors.A deep learning hazards model was built on risk factors to predict event occurrence(classification)and time to event(hazards model)using multilayered neural ***,the model was validated with independent retrospective cohorts of participants from India and the Netherlands and compared with FHRS and *** The deep learning hazards model had a good performance(area under the curve(AUC)0.853).Validation and comparative results showed AUCs between 0.84 and 0.92 with better positive likelihood ratio(AICVD−6.16 to FHRS−2.24 and QRisk3−1.16)and accuracy(AICVD−80.15%to FHRS 59.71%and QRisk351.57%).In the Netherlands cohort,AICVD also outperformed the Framingham Heart Risk Model(AUC−0.737 vs 0.707).Conclusions This study concludes that the novel AI-based CVD Risk Score has a higher predictive performance for cardiac events than conventional risk scores in Indian population.

Prey animals are often faced with uncertainty due to having imperfect information regarding current local conditions,including predation risks and the availability of reliable foraging opportunities(Dall 2010).As this uncertainty increases,the probability of making costly behavioral errors also increases,leading to more risk averse behavioral tactics(Feyten et al.2019).For example,Trinidadian guppies Poecilia reticulata are far more risk averse when faced with multiple unknown sources of risk assessment information than when faced with a mix of known and unknown cues(Feyten et al.2019).Prey can reduce uncertainty by gathering and integrating private and social information regarding current risk levels within microhabitats(Dall 2010;Munoz and Blumstein 2012).

Artemordins A-S, Cadinane-Type Sesquiterpenoid Dimers from Artemisia ordosica and Their Antihepatoma Activities

Nineteen new cadinane-involving sesquiterpenoid dimers,artemordins A-S(1-—19),together with 13 known SDs(20-32)were isolated from Artemisia *** structures and absolute configurations were established by comprehensive spectral analyses,X-ray single crystal diffraction,theoretical ECD,and NMR ***,artemordins A-F(1—6)were the first examples of two cadinane units constructed by unprecedented C-3−C-15′or C-3−C-13′single bond with an oxido-rearranged 6/5/6/6 fused ring system;artemordins G-K(7-11)were biogenetically connected by[4+2]cycloaddition reaction and artemordins G-j(7-10)possessed a novel 5/6/6/6/6/6/5-heptacyclic fused ring *** l-S(12-19)were formed by esterification,which involved three different types of *** assay suggested that the most active compounds,artemordins B and H(2 and 8),exhibited inhibitory activities on three hepatoma cell lines with IC50 values of 26.9 and 25.1μmol/l(HepG2),29.5 and 18.3μmol/l(Huh7),19.7 and 15.7μmol/l(SK-Hep-1).

CD4^(+)T cells can"help"or"license" conventional type 1 dendritic cells(cDC1s)to induce CD8^(+)cytotoxic T lymphocyte(CTl)anticancer responses,as proven in mouse *** recently identified cDC1s with a transcriptomic imprint of CD4^(+)T-cell help,specifically in T-cell-infiltrated human cancers,and these cells were associated with a good prognosis and response to PD-1-targeting ***,we delineate the mechanism of cDC1 licensing by CD4^(+)T cells in *** CD4^(+)T cells produce IFNβvia the STING pathway,which promotes MHC-I antigen(cross-)presentation by cDC1s and thereby improves their ability to induce CTl anticancer *** cooperation with CD40 ligand(l),IFNβalso optimizes the costimulatory and other functions of cDC1s required for CTl response ***-I-producing CD4^(+)T cells are present in diverse T-cell-infiltrated cancers and likely deliver“help”signals to CTls locally,according to their transcriptomic profile and colocalization with“helped/licensed”cDCs and tumor-reactive CD8^(+)T *** agreement with this scenario,the presence of IFN-I-producing CD4^(+)T cells in the TME is associated with overall survival and the response to PD-1 checkpoint blockade in cancer patients.

Implementation of an international medical student pen-pal club:survey outcomes of perceptions in cultural competency and global health

Background:Pen-pal clubs(PPC)are used worldwide for students to learn about different cultures and other skillsets without the need for *** medical students are interested in global health opportunities abroad but costs,scheduling,and other barriers allow few to participate in such *** is important that medical students have nuanced global medical perspectives and can contribute to the global medical ***:The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that an international medical student PPC improves medical students'perspectives of cultural competency and global health ***:In 2021,a novel medical student PPC was established that began between an American and japanese medical *** a shareholders meeting,it was decided that the number of medical schools involved globally be expanded through previous institutional affiliations and online *** total,the club connected 50 American medical students and 52 medical students from 17 high-and middle-income *** primary form of communication was online;pen-pals were encouraged to communicate monthly using provided topics,although frequency and way of communication was their *** February 2022,American PPC members were emailed a qualitative survey to assess the PPC's ***:The survey was completed by 42%of American PPC members,95%of which were 22-26 *** were preclinical medical students,60%whom were female and the majority either white(47%)or Asian(43%).Overall,the PPC positively influenced American medical students'perception of global medicine,medical education,and their cultural competency after joining the PPC compared to prior(P=0.004).Conclusion:PPCs encourage medical students to think from a global perspective and foster open-mindedness within varying social and cultural *** a global communication platform for students during medical school education may be an additional way to train aspiring global l

Here, we report an observation that illustrate the potential of polyelectrolyte microgels in salt-free solutions to display a high ionic conductivity. laser light scattering and ionic conductivity tests on very dilute aqueous dispersions of the microgels indicate that both small size and swollen state of gel particles play vital roles, which should favor the counterions to freely penetrate and leave gel particles, and thus can contribute to the ion-conducting property. Upon discovering this on microgels that are composed of imidazolium-based poly(ionic liquid), we also illustrate the generality of the finding to single lithium-ion polyelectrolyte microgels that are of more technically relevant features for applications, for instance, as injectable liquid “microgel-in-solution” electrolytes of high conductivity(ca. 8.2 × 10^(-2)S/m at 25.0 ℃ for1.0 × 10^(-2)g/m l of microgels in a liNO_(3)-free 1:1 v/v mixture of 1,2-dioxolane and dimethoxymethane) and high lithium-ion transference number(0.87) for use in the rechargeable lithium-sulfur battery.
