Quantitative assessment of the relevance of organic-aniontransporting-polypeptide 1B1 and 2B1 polymorphisms in fexofenadine pharmacokinetic variants via pharmacometrics

Fexofenadine is useful in various allergic disease ***,the pharmacokinetic variability information and quantitative factor identification of fexofenadine are very *** study aimed to verify the validity of previously proposed genetic factors through fexofenadine population pharmacokinetic modeling and to explore the quantitative correlations affecting the pharmacokinetic *** of the organic-anion-transporting-polypeptide(OATP)1B1 and 2B1 have been proposed to be closely related to fexofenadine pharmacokinetic ***,modeling was performed using fexofenadine oral exposure data according to the OATP1B1-and ***1B1 and 2B1 were identified as effective covariates of clearance(CL/F)and distribution volume(V/F)-CL/F,respectively,in fexofenadine pharmacokinetic ***/F and average steady-state plasma concentration of fexofenadine differed by up to 2.17-and 2.20-folds,respectively,depending on the OATP1B1 *** the individuals with different OATP2B1 polymorphisms,the CL/F and V/F differed by up to 1.73-and 2.00-folds,*** of the areas under the curves following single-and multiple-administrations,and the cumulative ratio were significantly different between OATP1B1-and 2B1-polymorphism *** on quantitative prediction comparison through a model-based approach,OATP1B1 was confirmed to be relatively more important than 2B1 regarding the degree of effect on fexofenadine pharmacokinetic *** on the established pharmacokineticpharmacodynamic relationship,the difference in fexofenadine efficacy according to genetic polymorphisms of OATP1B1 and 2B1 was 1.25-and 0.87-times,respectively,and genetic consideration of OATP1B1 was expected to be important in the pharmacodynamics area as *** population pharmacometrics study will be a very useful starting point for fexofenadine precision medicine.

Fabrication of ultrafine Nd-Fe-B powder by a modified reduction-diffusion process

In order to obtain ultrafine Nd-Fe-B powder, a spray-dried precursor was treated by reduction-diffusion (R/D) process. And, unlike the conventional R/D process, calcium reduction that is a crucial step for the formation of Nd2Fe14B was performed without conglomerating the precursor with Ca powder. By adopting this modified process, it is possible to synthesize the hard magnetic Nd2Fe14B at the reaction temperature as low as 850 ℃. The average size of Nd2Fe14B particles that are uniformly distributed in the optimally treated powder was <<1 μm. Most Nd2Fe14B particles were enclosed with thin layers of Nd-rich phase. Typical magnetic properties of such powder without eliminating impurity CaO were iHc=～5.9 kOe, Br=～5.5 kG, and (BH)max=～6 MGOe.

Is combined functional magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor tractography a useful tool for evaluation of somatosensory dysfunction recovery after intracerebral hemorrhage?

Diffusion tensor tractography allows the sensory fiber course of the medial lemniscus to be visualized. But diffusion tensor tractography for accurate evaluation of the repair of injured somatosensory tracts in stroke patients has been rarely reported. A 55-year-old female patient presented with severe somatosensory dysfunction of the left side caused by a spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage on the right side. The somatosensory function of the affected side recovered to a nearly normal state at 7 weeks from onset. Functional magnetic resonance imaging revealed that at 3 weeks from onset, there was no cortical activation by touch at each hand; at 7 weeks, the contralateral cortex centered on the primary sensory cortex was found to be activated during touch and passive movements, and activation by passive movements was increased compared with that at 3 weeks. Diffusion tensor tractography revealed that a medial lemniscus on the affected （right） hemisphere was not observed at 3 weeks from onset, however, at 7 weeks, the unaffected （left） hemisphere passed along the medial lemniscus pathway from the pons to the primary sensory cortex. These findings indicate that combined functional magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor tractography would allow more accurate evaluation of the architecture and integrity of somatosensory tracts and is a useful method to investigate the recovery of somatosensory dysfunction in stroke patients.

Diffusion tensor imaging for measuring recovery from cerebellar peduncle injury due to intracerebral hemorrhage: A case report

Diffusion tensor tractography （DTT） in diffusion tensor imaging （DTI） examination allows for the three-dimensional visualization of cerebellar peduncles. The present case-control study analyzed the relationship between functional recovery of intracerebral hematoma patient and cerebellar peduncle injury, as detected by DTI. The enrolled patient could not sit at 3 weeks after onset, but was able to walk independently and perform most daily activities after 4 months. The 3-week DTT images revealed that all six cerebellar peduncles were compressed by the hematoma, posterior portions of all three left cerebellar peduncles were shortened, and the left middle cerebellar peduncle was interrupted in the mid-portion. The 4-week DTT images showed that all compressed cerebellar peduncles were ameliorated, although injured posterior portions of the three left cerebellar peduncles did not recover. The fractional anisotropy value of the right inferior cerebellar peduncle increased from two standard deviations below the normal control value to within two standard deviations of the normal control value. These findings suggested that functional recovery was primarily due to decompression of compressed cerebellar peduncles, and not to recovery of injured cerebellar peduncles. DTI evaluations of cerebellar peduncles could be helpful when cerebellar peduncle injury is suspected.

Numerical modeling of sedimentation control scenarios in the approach channel of the Nakdong River Estuary Barrage,South Korea

The effects of sedimentation reduction at the Nakdong River Estuary Barrage(NREB) in Korea were quantitatively analyzed with respect to different sediment control methods using the calibrated and validated two-dimensional *** countermeasures of sediment dredging,sediment flushing,channel geometry change,and a combination of flushing and channel geometry change were examined for the approach channel of the *** flood event and channel geometries of the 3.8 km section upstream of the NREB surveyed before and after dredging in 2007 were used for modeling *** a result,the half of sediments dredged in 2007 could be eliminated naturally by floods without *** numerical simulation of sediment flushing indicated that the deposition height decreased in the entire simulation section with the minimum and maximum reductions from 0.3 in to1.3 m in deposition *** channel contraction method produced quantitatively the largest amount of sedimentation reduction and sediment flushing and dredging *** reduction by a combination of flushing and channel contraction was up 10%compared to the individual method of channel contraction.

Photosensitivity detection using diffusion tensor imaging in a traumatic brain injury patient

The present study examined a patient with traumatic brain injury who exhibited visual photosensitivity and axonal iniury of the left optic radiation, which was detected by diftusion tensor imaging. The patient was a 41-year-old man. He began to complain of photosensitivity at 4 months after head trauma. Ophthalmic evaluation, including visual-evoked potential and conventional brain magnetic resonance imaging, did not reveal a pathologic basis for photosensitivity. Axonal injury in the left optic radiation was detected via diffusion tensor imaging at 36 months after head trauma. The lesion was almost recovered at 76 months. However, photosensitivity continued. Therefore, the photosensitivity was considered to be a result of axonal injury to the left optic radiation, which could be a symptom of maladaptive plasticity that occurs during recovery of axonal injury of the left optic radiation.

Tailoring nanostructures is a general approach used to obtain enhanced thermoelectric properties for halfHeusler compounds because the wide areas of grain and phase boundaries could be scattering centers that lower lattice thermal ***,a common fabrication method based on the sintering of crystalline precursors crushed from as-cast alloy ingots has limitations in obtaining a homogeneous microstructure without microsized impurity phases,owing to residual elemental segregation from *** this study,we used amorphous NbCoSn alloys as a precursor for the sintered specimen to obtain a homogeneous NbCoSn bulk specimen without microsized impurity phases and segregation,which led to the enhanced Seebeck coefficient due to the high purity of the half-Heusler phase after ***,superplasticity originating from amorphous features enabled the powders to be largely deformed during the sintering process,even at a low sintering temperature(953 K).This resulted in less oxidation at both,the grain boundary and the interior,as the O diffusion pathway was blocked during the sintering *** a result,the NbCoSn0.95Sb0.05 specimen using an amorphous precursor exhibited an enhanced zT of 0.7,due to the increase in the power factor and a decrease in lattice thermal conductivity compared to the specimen using a crystalline precursor.

Development of 3D bicontinuous metal-intermetallic composites through subsequent alloying process after liquid metal dealloying

This study presents a novel process for the fabrication of metal-intermetallic composites with a 3D bicontinuous structure, achieved through a combination of liquid metal dealloying(LMD) and subsequent alloying. Initially, porous Ti structures are produced using the LMD process, followed by immersion in a molten Mg-3Al(wt%) metal. Due to the higher thermodynamic miscibility of Al with Ti compared to Mg, the concentration of Al in the Ti matrix increases as the immersion time increases. This results in a sequential phase transition within the Ti matrix: α-Ti → Ti_(3)Al → Ti Al. The phase transition considerably affects the hardness and strength of the composite material,with the Mg-Ti_(3)Al-Ti Al composite exhibiting a maximum hardness nearly twice as high as that of the conventional Mg-Ti composite. This innovative process holds potential for the development of various bicontinuous metal-intermetallic composites.

Recently,Zou et al.(2020 a)published a theoretical analysis on the radial flow of a Bingham fluid,where they argued that the classical analysis by Dai and Bird(1981)violates the mass *** present discussion aims to clarify this conflict between those two *** is noted that Zou et al.(2020 a)presumed the gap-wise mass flux is negligible in the mass conservation equation,while Dai and Bird(1981)did not require so in their model,and this is found to be the origin of the *** fact,Dai and Bird(1981)’s model is shown to not violate the mass ***,those two models should be viewed as separate models derived from different *** of the major difference between the two models are discussed.

Versatile control of concentration gradients in non-fullerene acceptor-based bulk heterojunction films using solvent rinse treatments

Solvent rinse treatments using polar methanol(Me OH)and nonpolar n-hexane have been developed for controlling material concentration gradients along the longitudinal direction of non-fullerene acceptor-based bulk heterojunction(BHj)films comprised of electron donor polymer,PBDB-T and acceptor,*** the used solvents(chlorobenzene with 1 vol%DIO)were completely evaporated,ITIC-m rich domains were formed at the top surface of the BHj films after they were rinsed with Me OH,as evidenced by water contact angle,atomic force microscopy,time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy,which led to enhanced electron transport in the conventional structure of organic solar cells(OSCs).In contrast,after rinsing with n-hexane,ITIC-m rich domains were formed at the bottom surface of the films,which improved electron transport in the inverted structure *** enhanced carrier transports increased the PCEs(11.80%and 11.15%)in both conventional and inverted OSCs by 10.29%and 10.35%compared with control *** versatile control of material concentration gradients is determined to be feasible owing to the chemical interaction of the used substrates(glass,PEDOT:PSS,and Zn O)and rinsing solvents.
