In plants,RNA interference(RNAi)plays a pivotal role in growth and development,and responses to environmental inputs,including pathogen *** intercellular and systemic trafficking of small interfering RNA(siRNA)/microRNA(miRNA)is a central component in this regulatory ***,little is known with regards to the molecular agents involved in the movement of these si/*** address this situation,we employed a biochemical approach to identify and characterize a conserved SMALL RNA-BINDING PROTEIN 1(SRBP1)family that mediates non-cell-autonomous small RNA(sRNA)*** Arabidopsis,AtSRBP1 is a glycine-rich(GR)RNA-binding protein,also known as AtGRP7,which we show binds single-stranded siRNA.A viral vector,Zucchini yellow mosaic virus(ZYMV),was employed to functionally characterized the AtSRBP1-4(AtGRP7/2/4/8)RNA recognition motif and GR ***-based studies revealed the GR domain as being necessary and sufficient for SRBP1 cell-to-cell *** together,our findings provide a foundation for future research into the mechanism and function of mobile sRNA signaling agents in plants.

Experiments using electrical resistivity tomography(ERT) have shown promising results in reducing the uncertainty of solute plume characteristics related to estimates based on the analysis of local point measurements *** explore the similarities and differences between two cross-borehole ERT inversion approaches for characterizing salt tracer plumes,namely the classical smoothness-constrained inversion and a geostatistically based approach,we performed two-dimensional synthetic *** assumptions about the solute transport model and the electrical forward and inverse model allowed us to study the sensitivity of the ERT inversion approaches towards a variety of basic conditions,including the number of boreholes,measurement schemes,contrast between the plume and background electrical conductivity,use of a priori knowledge,and point *** results show that geostatistically based and smoothness-constrained inversions of electrical resistance data yield plume characteristics of similar quality,which can be further improved when point measurements are incorporated and advantageous measurement schemes are *** expected,an increased number of boreholes included in the ERT measurement layout can highly improve the quality of inferred plume characteristics,while in this case the benefits of point conditioning and advantageous measurement schemes *** ERT inversion approaches are similarly sensitive to the noise level of the data and the contrast between the solute plume and background electrical conductivity,and robust with regard to biased input parameters,such as mean concentration,variance,and correlation length of the *** sophisticated inversion schemes have recently become available,in which flow and transport as well as electrical forward models are coupled,these schemes effectively rely on a relatively simple geometrical parameterization of the hydrogeological ***,we believe that standard uncoupled ER

A concise review of recent studies about the fracture assessments of elastic brittle solid materials containing V-notches is presented. In this preliminary and brief survey, elastic stress distributions in V-notched solids are discussed first. The concept of notch stress intensity factor is introduced. Combine the digital image correlation method with numerical computation techniques to analyze the stress distribution near the notches. Fracture criteria such as strain energy density, j-integral, theory of critical distance are used. However, various new materials are developed in different engineering fields, thus, the establishment of reliable and accurate material strength theory or failure criterion is imperative. Therefore, predicting fracture for various modem materials would require more experiments to infer material dependent parameters in the local fracture model.

This paper first visits uniqueness, scale, and resolution issues in groundwater flow forward modeling problems. It then makes the point that non-unique solutions to groundwater flow inverse problems arise from a lack of information necessary to make the problems well defined. Subsequently, it presents the necessary conditions for a well-defined inverse problem. They are full specifications of （1） flux boundaries and sources/sinks, and （2） heads everywhere in the domain at at least three times （one of which is t = 0）, with head change everywhere at those times being nonzero for transient flow. Numerical experiments are presented to corroborate the fact that, once the necessary conditions are met, the inverse problem has a unique solution. We also demonstrate that measurement noise, instability, and sensitivity are issues related to solution techniques rather than the inverse problems themselves. In addition, we show that a mathematically well-defined inverse problem, based on an equivalent homogeneous or a layered conceptual model, may yield physically incorrect and scenario-dependent parameter values. These issues are attributed to inconsistency between the scale of the head observed and that implied by these models. Such issues can be reduced only if a sufficiently large number of observation wells are used in the equivalent homogeneous domain or each layer. With a large number of wells, we then show that increase in parameterization can lead to a higher-resolution depiction of heterogeneity if an appropriate inverse methodology is used. Furthermore, we illustrate that, using the same number of wells, a highly parameterized model in conjunction with hydraulic tomography can yield better characterization of the aquifer and minimize the scale and scenario-dependent problems. High vibration transfer from a tennis racquet to the player may cause discomfort,and is hypothesized to influence performance and the onset of muscle *** study examined a racquet with a novel vibration damping technology(VDT)designed to mitigate frame *** vibration,post-impact vibration transfer to the player,arm electromyographic activity and tennis performance were compared to a non-VDT *** young adult,competitive tennis players hit forehands and serves until near exhaustion on two days;using one of the two racquets each ***-axial accelerometers mounted to racquet shaft,hand and forearm recorded vibration *** electromyography recorded activity of five arm *** comparison to the non-VDT racquet,the VDT design showed:1)A significantly lower mean normalised acceleration signal energy at the racquet during unfatigued play(-40%)and at near exhaustion(-34%),which corresponded to a 20–25%lower signal energy at the hand.2)Reduced signs of arm muscle fatigue at near exhaustion,which was most pronounced in biceps and wrist extensors.3)Players hit 11%more forehands and placed 40%more hits in the target area at near ***:VDT effectively reduces racquet *** evidence indicates that it may delay muscle fatigue,which was associated with increased ball placement accuracy.
