Influence of rare earth doping on hydrogen absorption properties of Zr_(7)V_(5)Fe alloy

As a representative of non-evaporative getter,Zr-V-Fe has gained widespread attention due to its advantages including low activation temperatures and rapid hydrogen absorption *** this study,we investigated the impact of La and Ce doping on the thermodynamic,kinetic,and activation properties of Zr_(7)V_(5)Fe alloy.X-ray diffraction analysis shows that rare earth doping causes a decrease in the cell volume of both the ZrV_(2) andα-Zr phases of Zr_(7)V_(5)Fe alloy,which results in an increase in the plateau pressure of the *** kinetic curves illustrate that rare earth doping leads to a coarseα-Zr phases and a larger particle size after activation,resulting in a decrease in the hydrogen absorption kinetic *** for the activation process,the rare earth doped alloys exhibit excellent activation with shorter incubation periods.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy investigations reveal that Zr and V are initially in a highly oxidized *** the heating temperature increases,they undergo a transition from oxidation state to metal *** content of metal Zr in rare earth doped alloys is higher than that in undoped alloys at 250℃,primarily due to rare earth elements'affinity for oxygen.

This study investigates the bond performance at the interfacial region shared by Ultra-High Performance Concrete(UHPC)and steel tubes through push-out *** study examines how changes in steel fiber volumetric ratio and thickness of steel tube influence the bond strength *** results show that as the enhancement of the steel tube wall thickness,the ultimate bond strength at the interface improves significantly,whereas the initial bond strength exhibits only slight *** influence of steel fiber volumetric ratio presents a nonlinear trend,with initial bond strength decreasing at low fiber content and increasing significantly as fiber content ***,finite element(FE)simulations were applied to replicate the experimental conditions,and the outcomes showed strong correlation with the experimental data,confirming the exactitude of the FE model in predicting the bond behavior at the UHPC-Steel *** findings provide valuable insights for optimizing the design of UHPC-Filled steel tubes in high-performance structure.

Flow field distribution and overpressure characteristics inside the crew compartment of a truck-mounted howitzer under the effect of muzzle blast

The muzzle blast overpressure induces disturbances in the flow field inside the crew compartment(FFICC)of a truck-mounted howitzer during the artillery *** overpressure is the primary factor preventing personnel from firing artillery within the *** investigate the overpressure characteristics of the FFICC,a foreign trade equipment model was used as the research object,and a numerical model was established to analyze the propagation of muzzle blast from the muzzle to the interior of the crew compartment under extreme firing *** comparative verification,the muzzle blast experiment included overpressure data from both the flow field outside the crew compartment(FFOCC)and the FFICC,as well as the acceleration data of the crew compartment structure(Str-CC).The research findings demonstrate that the overpressure-time curves of the FFICC exhibit multi-peak characteristics,while the pressure wave shows no significant *** enclosed nature of the cab hinders the dissipation of pressure wave energy within the FFICC,leading to sustained high-amplitude *** frameskin structure helps attenuate the impact of muzzle blast on the ***,local high overpressure caused by the convex or concave features of the cab's exterior significantly amplifies the overpressure amplitude within the FFICC.

Thick electrodes can reduce the ratio of inactive constituents in a holistic energy storage system while improving energy and power ***,traditional slurry-casting electrodes induce high-tortuous ionic diffusion routes that directly depress the capacitance with a thickening *** overcome this,a novel 3D low-tortuosity,self-supporting,wood-structured ultrathick electrode(NiMoN@WC,a thickness of~1400 mm)with hierarchical porosity and artificial array-distributed small holes was constructed via anchoring bimetallic nitrides into the monolithic wood *** the embedded NiMoN nanoclusters with well-designed geometric and electronic structure,the vertically low-tortuous channels,enlarged specific surface area and pore volume,superhydrophilic interface,and excellent charge conductivities,a superior capacitance of NiMoN@WC thick electrodes(~5350 mF cm^(-2)and 184.5 F g^(-1))is achieved without the structural *** especial,monolithic wood carbons with gradient porous network not only function as the high-flux matrices to ameliorate the NiMoN loading via cell wall engineering but also allow fully-exposed electroactive substance and efficient current collection,thereby deliver an acceptable rate capability over 75%retention even at a high sweep rate of 20 mA cm^(-2).Additionally,an asymmetric NiMoN@WC//WC supercapacitor with an available working voltage of 1.0-1.8 V is assembled to demonstrate a maximum energy density of~2.04 mWh cm^(-2)(17.4 Wh kg^(-1))at a power density of 1620 mW cm^(-2),along with a decent long-term lifespan over 10,000 charging-discharging *** a guideline,the rational design of wood ultrathick electrode with nanostructured transition metal nitrides sketch a promising blueprint for alleviating global energy scarcity while expanding carbon-neutral technologies.

Surface integrity characterization of thirdgeneration nickel-based single crystal blade tenons after ultrasonic vibration-assisted grinding

Machined surface integrity of workpieces in harsh environments has a remarkable influence on their ***,the complexity of the new type of machining hinders a comprehensive understanding of machined surface integrity and its formation mechanism,thereby limiting the study of component *** increasing demands for high-quality machined workpieces in aerospace industry applications,researchers from academia and industry are increasingly focusing on post-machining surface *** profile grinding test was conducted on a novel single-crystal superalloy to simulate the formation of blade tenons,and the obtained tenons were characterized for surface integrity elements under various operating *** revealed that ultrasonic vibration-assisted grinding(UVAG)led to multiple superpositions of abrasive grain trajectories,causing reduced surface roughness(an average reduction of approximately29.6%)compared with conventional *** examining the subsurface layer of UVAG using transmission electron microscopy,the results revealed that the single-crystal tenon grinding subsurface layer exhibited a gradient evolution from the near-surface to the *** evolution was characterized by an equiaxed nanocrystalline layer measuring 0.34μm,followed by a submicrocrystalline grain-forming zone spanning 0.6μm and finally,a constituent phase-twisted dis-torted deformation zone over 0.62μ*** normal grinding conditions,the tenon exhibited low surface hardening(not exceeding 15%),and residual compressive stresses were observed on its *** cases where grinding burns occurred,a white layer appeared on the tenon's surface,which demonstrated varying thicknesses along the teeth from top to root due to thermal-force-structural coupling ***,these burns introduced residual tensile stresses on the tenon's surface,potentially substantially affecting its fatigue *** paper enhances our understanding of UVAG pro

Aerosol acidity(pH)plays an important role in the multiphase chemical processes of atmospheric *** this study,we demonstrated the seasonal trends of aerosol pH calculated with the ISORROPIA-II model in a coastal city of southeast *** performed quantitative analysis on the various influencing factors on aerosol pH,and explored the responses of aerosol pH to different PM_(2.5)and O_(3)pollution *** results showed that the average aerosol pH was 2.92±0.61,following the order of winter>spring>summer>*** tests revealed that SO_(4)^(2−),NH_(x),T and RH triggered the variations of aerosol *** analysis results showed that T(37.9%-51.2%)was the main factors affecting pH variations in four seasons,followed by SO_(4)^(2−)(6.1%-23.7%),NH_(x)(7.2%-22.2%)and RH(0–14.2%).Totally,annual mean meteorological factors(52.9%)and chemical compositions(41.3%)commonly contributed the aerosolpH in the coastal *** concentrations of PM_(2.5)was positively correlated with aerosol liquid water content(R^(2)=0.53)and aerosol pH(R^(2)=0.26),indicating that the increase in pH was related with the elevated NH_(4)NO_(3)and decreased SO_(4)^(2−),and also the changes of T and *** O_(x)(O_(3)+NO_(2))was moderately correlated with aerosol pH(R^(2)=-0.48),attributable to the fact that the proportion of SO_(4)^(2−)increased under high T and low RH *** study strengthened our understanding of the contributions of influencing factors to aerosol pH,and also provided scientific evidences for chemical processes of atmospheric particles in coastal areas.

Thermoelectric Modulation of Neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXenes by Finely Regulating the Stacking of Nanosheets

Emerging two-dimensional MXenes have been extensively studied in a wide range of fields thanks to their superior electrical and hydrophilic attributes as well as excellent chemical stability and mechanical *** them,the ultrahigh electrical conductivity(σ)and tunable band structures of benchmark Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene demonstrate its good potential as thermoelectric(TE)***,both the large variation ofσreported in the literature and the intrinsically low Seebeck coefficient(S)hinder the practical ***,this study has for the first time systematically investigated the TE properties of neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) films,which are finely modulated by exploiting different dispersing solvents,controlling nanosheet sizes and constructing ***,deionized water is found to be superior for obtaining closely packed MXene sheets relative to other polar ***,a simultaneous increase in both S andσis realized via elevating centrifugal speed on MXene aqueous suspensions to obtain small-sized nanosheets,thus yielding an ultrahigh power factor up to~156μW m^(-1) K^(-2).Third,S is significantly enhanced yet accompanied by a reduction inσwhen constructing MXene-based nanocomposites,the latter of which is originated from the damage to the intimate stackings of MXene ***,a correlation between the TE properties of neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) films and the stacking of nanosheets is elucidated,which would stimulate further exploration of MXene TEs.

Exposure of individuals aged 18-44 years to personal care products in Beijing,China:Exposure profiles,possible influencing factors,and risk assessment

Personal care products(PCPs)are a class of emerging pollutants that have attracted public concern owing to their harmful effects on humans and the *** data is valuable for insight the levels of PCPs in the human body and can be crucial for identifying potential health *** gain a better understanding of timely exposure profiles and health risk of reproductive-age population to PCPs,we determined six parabens,six benzophenone-type ultraviolet filters,and three disinfectants in 256 urine samples collected from young adults aged 18-44 years in Beijing,*** urinary levels of benzophenone-3(BP-3)and 4-hydroxybenzophenone(4-OHBP)were significantly higher in summer compared to winter,suggesting these compounds have different seasonal usage ***,the total concentration of 15 PCPs in female was 430 ng/mL,approximately two times higher than that in male.P-chloro-m-xylenol(PCMX),as a new type of antibacterial agent,has the greatest level among all target analytes,indicating the increasingly use of this antibacterial alternative *** potential influencing factors that lead to the elevated exposure level of PCPs were *** 19%of the target population had a high hazard index value(greater than 1)which was attributed to exposure to propyl paraben(PrP),benzophenone-1(BP-1),BP-3 and PCMX,indicating that PCPs may pose a relatively high exposure risk at environmental levels that should be a cause for concern.

The evaluation of toxicity related to polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and furans(PCDD/Fs)and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls(DL-PCBs)is crucial for a comprehensive risk assessment in real-world exposure *** study employed a controlled feeding experiment to investigate the metabolic effects of dioxin-like compounds(DLCs)on laying hens via feed *** enriched with two concentrations(1.17 and 5.13 pg toxic equivalents(TEQ)/g dry weight(dw))were administered over 14 days,followed by 28 days of clean *** analyses of blood samples revealed significant metabolic variations between PCDD/Fs and DL-PCBs exposed groups and controls,reflecting the induced metabolic *** changes were observed in sphingosine,palmitoleic acid,linoleate,linolenic acid,taurocholic acid,indole acrylic acid,and dibutyl phthalate levels,implying possible connections between PCDD/Fs and DL-PCBs toxic effects and energy-neuronal imbalances,along with lipid accumulation and anomalous amino acid metabolism,impacting taurine ***,we identified three differential endogenous metabolites—L-tryptophan,indole-3-acetaldehyde,and indole acrylic acid—as potential ligands for the aryl hydrocarbon receptor(AhR),suggesting their role inmediating PCDD/Fs and DL-PCBs *** comprehensive investigation provides novel insights into the metabolic alterations induced by PCDD/Fs and DL-PCBs in laying hens,thereby enhancing our ability to assess risks associated with their exposure in human populations.
