The crystallization process of the eutectic composition of GdAlO_3-Al_2O_3 from the amorphous phase prepared by rapid-quenching of melt that leads to the formation of a cantaloupe skin-like microstructure was investigated using focused ion-beam scanning electron microscopy (FIB-SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM).The amorphous films were heat-treated at temperatures between 1000 °C and 1500 °C for up to 30min to form the eutectic phases of GdAlO_3 and Al_2O_*** GdAlO_3 and Al_2O_3 crystal phases that formed from the amorphous phase were identified by FIB-SEM and *** components began to crystallize and grow from the amorphous phase separately at different *** formation process of these crystal phases was different from that of the ordinary eutectic microstructure solidified from the GdAlO_3-Al_2O_3 ***,the observed structure is termed "eutectic-like" for *** microstructures formed from the amorphous phases at sufficiently high temperatures consisted of ultra-fine microstructures of individually crystallized components and were similar to ordinary eutectic *** heat-treating the amorphous films at 1500 °C for either 2 min,8min or 30min,the ultra-fine components of GdAlO_3 and Al_2O_3 were found to crystallize following a eutectic-like stage after 8min of heat treatment.

Water strider Aquarius paludum （Fabricius） is a cosmopolitan species colonizes mainly freshwater but occasionally brackish habitats throughout the Palearctic and Oriental regions. Water strider Gerris latiabdominis （Miyamoto） is a common species in japan lives in temporary habitats as freshwater paddy fields. These two species often occur syntopically. We investigated differences in the developmental response to brackish water during embryonic and larval stages between the two species. Eggs were exposed to 0-1.8% NaC1 solutions within 24 h of oviposition. Larvae of G. latiabdominis were exposed to salinities of 0, 0.5%, and 0.9% from the first instar until adult emergence. Limits of NaC1 concentration for hatching were 1.3% and 1.0% for A. paludum and G. latiabdominis, respectively. The hatching rate of G. latiabdominis was lower than that ofA. paludum at salinities 〉0.9%. The period of embryonic development of G. latiabdominis was more prolonged than that ofA. paludum at a given salinity. Although the salinity tolerance of G. latiabdominis was lower than that ofA. paludum, our results suggest G. latiabdominis has the physiological capacity to expand into brackish waters. High and low salinity tolerances of A. paludum and G. latiabdominis, respectively, reflect the relatively wide range of habitat salinities utilized by A. paludum and the relatively restricted habitats preferred by G. latiabdominis. The high salinity tolerance ofA. paludum could be an important factor contributing to their cosmopolitan distribution because high tolerance to salinity means the possibility of them to be dispersed via ocean or sea to other continents and islands.

A basin-wide ocean general circulation model of the North Pacific is used to identify which location is more efficient for ocean CO2 sequestration in the North *** injection depths at each one of fifteen locations are *** terms of effectiveness index（EI） and escape factor（EF）,it is clear that the effectiveness increases with increasing latitude at the end of the 50 a injection ***-by-site differences in the EI can be over 9% for the 1 000 m injection depth in the western North Pacific at the end of 50 a of continuous *** difference is much larger for the 500 m *** difference decreases with increasing injection ***,the site-by-site difference is small for the injection in the eastern North *** sequestration is more efficient for the injection in the east than in the *** the 500 m injection depth,the difference in effectiveness between the west and the east is over 10% at the end of 50 a injection *** largest concentration of sequestered CO2 increases with increasing injection *** the injection in both the western and central North Pacific,the largest exchange flux always appears to be at about 42°N,150°E,whereas for the injection in the eastern area the large flux appears to be in the equatorial region（120°W）.

New design tools have created a growing interest for presenting complex geometries and patterns. The need to form curved geometries of facades, without incurring high construction costs and time increases, presents one of the most complex design challenges for any project. In this paper, we present and demonstrate a new computational framework for the creation of patterns on top of facades, via cladding of panels and honeycomb structures. The tool describes a given region on a base model; dealing particularly with location, size and orientation of general geometric features on the surface of such model. The user inputs curves that manifest the desired user＇s intention for the panels and a set of seed features that correspond to the initial boundary conditions of a Riemannian metric tensor field. The system interpolates the tensors defined by input features and input curves by solving a Laplace-Beltrami partial differential equation over the entire domain. We show a fast clustering and search operations for correct panel utilization based on size quantization as design variable and implemented via Voronoi segmentation. We present honeycomb structures that can be retrieved from the fundamental mesh producing another option for facade creation and ideation. The system connects to a geometric modeling kernel of a commercial CAD package; the system places features on top of the base model facade using boolean operations from the core geometdc engine via its programming interface calls. With this computational tool, thousands of dad panels can be visualized and developed within minutes.

To identify cytoplasmic male sterility(CMS)-associated genes in tomato,we determined the genome sequences of mitochondria and chloroplasts in three CMS tomato lines derived from independent asymmetric cell fusions,their nuclear and cytoplasmic donors,and male fertile weedy cultivated tomato and wild *** structures of the CMS mitochondrial genomes were highly divergent from those of the nuclear and cytoplasmic donors,and genes of the donors were mixed up in these *** the other hand,the structures of CMS chloroplast genomes were moderately conserved across the donors,but CMS chloroplast genes were unexpectedly likely derived from the nuclear *** analysis of the structures and contents of organelle genes and transcriptome analysis identified three genes that were uniquely present in the CMS lines,but not in the donor or fertile ***-sequencing analysis indicated that these three genes transcriptionally expressed in anther,and identified different RNA editing levels in one gene,orf265,that was partially similar to ATP synthase subunit 8,between fertile and sterile *** orf265 was a highly potential candidate for CMS-associated *** study suggests that organelle reorganization mechanisms after cell fusion events differ between mitochondria and chloroplasts,and provides insight into the development of new F1 hybrid breeding programs employing the CMS system in tomato.

We report on an all-solid-state battery that employs a closo-type complex hydride solid electrolyte and a LiCoO2 *** modification between the solid electrolyte and cathode with a LiNbO3 buffer layer enables reversible charge-discharge cycling with a cell voltage of 3.9V (***^+/Li) at room *** analyses clarify that the given modification effectively suppresses side reactions at the cathode/solid electrolyte *** interfacial resistance is lowered by ca.10 times with a 5 nm thick LiNbO3 buffer layer compared to that without a buffer layer,so that a discharge capacity of 109 mAh g^-1 is *** results suggest that interfacial modification can be a viable approach to the development of high-voltage all-solid-state batteries using closo-type complex hydride solid electrolytes and oxide cathodes.
