Chiral hybrid metal halides with high photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY)and superior dissymmetry factor(g_(lum))are promising candidates for circularly polarized luminescence(CPL)emitting ***,it is a great challenge to achieve both high g_(lum)and large ***,we report a new supramolecular strategy to fabricate chiral hybrid Cu(Ⅰ)-halides with nearunity quantum yields and intense CPL *** dissymmetry factor can be dramatically modulated by tuning the hostguest *** to the chirality and variable conformations of the host-guest complexes,a series of chiral[G@L^(R/S)]_(2)Cu_(4)I_(6)have been *** incorporation of different cations within the chiral L^(R/S)hosts leads to variations of packing modes along the c-axis and different extent of distortions in the[Cu_(4)I_(6)]_(2)-*** them,[H_(3)O@L^(R/S)]+cations are stacked based on Van der Waals interactions and hierarchically self-assemble into a right/left-handed helix in[H_(3)O@L^(R/S)]_(2)Cu_(4)I_(6),which results in a high g_(lum)of-7×10^(-3)and a large PLQY of 96.92%.Notably,[G@L^(R/S)]_(2)Cu_(4)I_(6)shows promising applications in single-component white light emitting diodes(WLEDs),exhibiting a maximum dissymmetry factor of-1.2×10^(-3).The effective host-guest complexation and oriented hierarchical self-assembly provide an effective strategy for the development of high-performance CPL materials.

Stabilizing semi-transparent perovskite solar cells with a polymer composite hole transport layer

Semi-transparent perovskite solar cells(ST-PSCs)have broad applications in building integrated ***,the stability of ST-PSCs needs to be improved,especially in n-i-p ST-PSCs since the doped 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenyl-amine)-9,9'-spirobifluorene(Spiro-OMeTAD)is unstable at elevated temperatures and high *** this work,aπ-conjugated polymer poly[(2,6-(4,8-bis(5-(2-ethylhexyl)thiophene-2-yl)-benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']dithiophene))-alt-(5,5-(1',3'-di-2-thienyl-5',7'-bis(2-ethylhexyl)benzo[1',2'-c:4',5'-c']dithiophene-4,8-dione)](PBDB-T)is selected to form a polymer composite hole transport layer(HTL)with *** sulfur atom of the thiophene unit and the carbonyl group of the polymer interact with the undercoordinated Pb2+at the perovskite surface,which stabilizes the perovskite/HTL interface and passivates the interfacial *** incorporation of the polymer also increases the glass transition temperature and the moisture resistance of *** a result,we obtain ST-PSCs with a champion efficiency of 13.71%and an average visible light transmittance of 36.04%.Therefore,a high light utilization efficiency of 4.94%can be ***,the encapsulated device can maintain 84%of the initial efficiency after 751 h under continuous one-sun illumination(at 30%relative humidity)at the open circuit and the unencapsulated device can maintain 80%of the initial efficiency after maximum power tracking for more than 1250 h under continuous one-sun illumination.

As the sole obligate symbiotic birds in Africa,oxpeckers offer a unique model for studying symbiotic *** to the multitrophic level they occupy and the context dependent foraging behavior they exhibit,the type of symbiotic relationship can be *** addition to providing a cleaning service to the host by removing ticks,oxpeckers frequently feed on blood,mucus,and saliva,inflicting potential damage on the ***,we used DNA metabarcoding on faecal samples to analyze the taxonomic composition of the trophic interactions of the Yellow-billed Oxpecker(Buphagus africanus)and Red-billed Oxpecker(***)in northeastern *** contrast to conventional methods,DNA metabarcoding allows for a detailed identification of dietary resources encompassing both mammal hosts and consumed arthropods within the same *** this information,we examined differences in the diet composition between oxpecker species and localities,as well as the co-occurrence between host and arthropod *** findings revealed that oxpeckers predominantly source their diet from mammals,ticks,and flies;however,ticks and flies rarely co-occur in the diet of an *** observed variability among individuals in their feeding ecology,which is strongly correlated with locality and,to a lesser extent,with the mammal *** noted a high degree of mobility between hosts within relatively short periods,with 32%of the samples showing traces of at least two mammal *** study illustrates the dynamic foraging behavior of these specialized symbiotic birds,shedding light on their potential role in pest control services and disease transmission.

Radiofrequency ablation versus microwave ablation for colorectal liver metastases:long-term results of a retrospective cohort surgical experience

Background:Ablation is an alternative treatment modality for selected patients with colorectal liver metastases(CRLMs).Although initially widely performed via radiofrequency ablation(RfA),more recently,microwave ablation(MWA)is being preferred due to its perceived superiority in creating the ablation *** aim of this study is to compare the long-term efficacy of these two modalities performed ***:Patients undergoing surgical liver ablation from 2005-2023 at a tertiary center by a single surgeon for CRLM were included in a retrospective institutional review board-approved *** were compared using Wilcoxon,Chi-square,Kaplan-Meier,and Cox multivariate regression *** data are presented as median(interquartile range).Results:There were a total of 242 *** RfA was done in 121 patients with 303 lesions and laparoscopic MWA in 121 patients with 300 *** was no difference between the groups regarding operative time(161 vs.147 minutes,respectively,P=0.4),perioperative morbidity(3%vs.8%,respectively,P=0.2)or hospital stay(1 vs.1 day,P=0.05).Local recurrence(LR)per lesion with at least 1 year of imaging follow-up was 29%in the RfA and 13%in the MWA group(Pf *** control these variables,direct matching was *** cohort included 189 ***-Meier analysis of these cohorts showed increased LR-free survival in the MWA group *** RfA group(P=0.005).Conclusions:This large study confirms our initial observation that local tumor control rate is better after MWA ***.

Comparative utility of vestibular function tests in patients with peripheral and central vestibular dysfunction

Background: Bithermal caloric irrigation, video head impulse test(vHIT), and rotational testing are commonly used to assess peripheral vestibular function, but the relative clinical utility of each test in differentiating patients with peripheral vestibulopathy is ***: To determine whether(1) the combination of two or more vestibular tests enhances diagnostic utility over a single test;(2) abnormal test results on vestibular tests correlate with one ***: Retrospective analysis of data collected from multidisciplinary vestibular clinics at two academic medical centers from 2016 to ***: 150 patients(54.10 ± 15.09 years, 88 females) were included. No individual test was significantly better at predicting the presence of peripheral vestibular damage(p > 0.05). vHIT test results improved significantly when combined with either the caloric test(p = 0.007) or rotary chair test(p = 0.039). Caloric and rotational testing had high sensitivity(74.65% and 76.06%, respectively) and specificity(83.54% and 78.48%, respectively). vHIT demonstrated excellent specificity(89.87%) but poor sensitivity(47.89%). Caloric, vHIT, and rotary chair tests results did not correlate with one another(p > 0.05).Conclusions: Vestibular function tests have comparable diagnostic utility, yet each offers unique advantages. Caloric and rotational testing may be best suited for screening peripheral damage and vHIT may function ideally as a confirmatory test.

Cytochrome P450 CitCYP97B modulates carotenoid accumulation diversity by hydroxylating b-cryptoxanthin in Citrus

Carotenoids in plant foods provide health benefits by functioning as provitamin *** ofthe vital provitamin A carotenoids,b-cryptoxanthin,is typically plentiful in citrus ***,little is known about the genetic basis of b-cryptoxanthin accumulation in ***,we performed a widely targeted metabolomic analysis of 65 major carotenoids and carotenoid derivatives to characterize carotenoid accumulation in Citrus and determine the taxonomic profile of *** used data from 81 newly sequenced representative accessions and 69 previously sequenced Citrus cultivars to reveal the genetic basis of b-cryptoxanthin accumulation through a genome-wide association *** identified a causal gene,CitCYP97B,which encodes a cytochrome P450 protein whose substrate and metabolic pathways in land plants were *** subsequently demonstrated that CitCYP97B functions as a novel monooxygenase that specifically hydroxylates the b-ring of b-cryptoxanthin in a heterologous expression *** planta experiments provided further evidence that CitCYP97B negatively regulates b-cryptoxanthin *** the sequenced Citrus accessions,we found that two critical structural cis-element variations contribute to increased expression of CitCYP97B,thereby altering b-cryptoxanthin accumulation in ***/introgression appear to have contributed to the prevalence of two cis-element variations in different Citrus types during citrus ***,these findings extend our understanding of the regulation and diversity of carotenoid metabolism in fruit crops and provide a genetic target for production of b-cryptoxanthin-biofortified products.

Coastal ecosystems are an important region for biogeochemical cycling,are a hotspot of anthropogenic disturbance and play a crucial role in global carbon cycling through the metabolic activities of *** can be broadly classified into two lifestyles:free-living(fL)and particle-attached(PA).However,how coastal bacterioplankton the community structure,co-occurrence networks and carbon metabolic functions with different lifestyles are differentiated is still largely *** these processes is necessary to better determine the contributions of coastal bacterioplankton to carbon ***,the characteristics of community structure and carbon metabolism function of bacterioplankton with two lifestyles in the coastal areas of Guangdong Province were investigated using amplicon sequencing,metagenomic,and metatranscriptomic *** results show that the main bacterioplankton responsible for carbon metabolism were the Pseudomonadota,Bacteroidota,and *** microbial community structure,carbon metabolic function,and environmental preferences differ between different *** and PA bacteria exhibited higher carbon fixation and degradation potentials,respectively.A range of environmental factors,such as dissolved oxygen,pH,and temperature,were associated with the community structure and carbon metabolic functions of the *** activities,such as nutrient discharge,may affect the distribution of functional genes and enhance the carbon degradation functions of *** conclusion,this study increased the understanding of the role of microorganisms in regulating carbon export in coastal ecosystems with intense human activity.

The upper respiratory tract is the initial site of SARS-CoV-2 *** spike-specific secretory immunoglobulin A(slgA)correlates with protection against Omicron breakthrough *** report that intranasal vaccination using human adenovirus serotype 5(Ad5)vectored Omicron spike in people who previously vaccinated with ancestral vaccine could induce robust neutralizing slgA in the nasal *** slgA was predominantly present in dimeric and multimeric forms and accounted for nearly 40%of total proteins in nasal mucosal lining fluids(NMLfs).A low-level IgG could also be detected in NMLfs but not IgM,IgD,and *** a complete nasal wash,slgA in the nasal passage could be replenished rapidly within a few hours.A comparison of purified paired serum IgA,serum IgG,and nasal slgA from the same individuals showed that slgA was up to 3-logs more potent than serum antibodies in binding to spikes and in neutralizing Omicron *** IgG and IgA failed to neutralize XBB and BA.2.86,while nasal slgA retained potent neutralization against these newly emerged *** analysis showed that slgA Was more effective than IgG or IgA in blocking spike-mediated cell-to-cell transmission and protecting hACE2 mice from XBB *** a slgA monoclonal antibody as a reference,we estimated that the total nasal slgA contains about 2.6-3.9%spikespecific slgA in NMLfs collected approximately one month after intranasal *** study provided insights for developing intranasal vaccines that can induce slgA to build an effective and mutation-resistant first-line immune barrier against constantly emerging variants.
