Solid-phase extraction and separation of indium with P_(2)O_(4)-UiO-66-MOfs (di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid-UiO-66-metal-organic frameworks)

Compared with the traditional liquid–liquid extraction method,solid-phase extraction agents are of great significance for the recovery of indium metal due to their convenience,free of organic solvents,and fully exposed *** this study,P_(2)O_(4)(di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid)was chemically modified by using UiO-66 to form the solid-phase extraction agent P_(2)O_(4)-UiO-66-MOfs(di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid-UiO-66-metal-organic frameworks)to adsorb In(Ⅲ).The results show that the Zr of UiO-66 bonds with the P-OH of P_(2)O_(4) to form a composite P_(2)O_(4)-UiO-66-MOf,which was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(fT-IR).The adsorption process of indium on P_(2)O_(4)-UiO-66-MOfs followed pseudo first-order kinetics,and the adsorption isotherms fit the Langmuir adsorption isotherm *** adsorption capabilities can reach 192.8 mg/*** five consecutive cycles of adsorption-desorption-regeneration,the indium adsorption capacity by P_(2)O_(4)-UiO-66-MOfs remained above 99%.The adsorption mechanism analysis showed that the P=O and P-OH of P_(2)O_(4) molecules coated on the surface of P_(2)O_(4)-UiO-66-MOfs participated in the adsorption reaction of *** this paper,the extractant P_(2)O_(4) was modified into solid P_(2)O_(4)-UiO-66-MOfs for the first *** work provides a new idea for the development of solid-phase extractants for the recovery of indium.

Recent investigation on the coupling between the ionosphere and upper atmosphere

Scientific attention has recently been focused on the coupling of the earth's upper atmosphere and ionosphere. In the present work, we review the advances in this field, emphasizing the studies and contributions of Chinese scholars. This work first introduces new developments in the observation instruments of the upper atmosphere. Two kinds of instruments are involved: optical instruments(lidars, fP interferometers and all-sky airglow imagers) and radio instruments(MST radars and all-sky meteor radars). Based on the data from these instruments and satellites, the researches on climatology and wave disturbances in the upper atmosphere are then introduced. The studies on both the sporadic sodium layer and sporadic E-layer are presented as the main works concerning the coupling of the upper atmosphere and the low ionosphere. We then review the investigations on the ionospheric longitudinal structure and the causative atmospheric non-migrating tide as the main progress of the coupling between the atmosphere and the ionospheric f2-region. Regarding the ionosphere-thermosphere coupling, we introduce studies on the equatorial thermospheric anomaly, as well as the influence of the thermospheric winds and gravity waves to the ionospheric f2-region. Chinese scholars have made much advancement on the coupling of the ionosphere and upper atmosphere, including the observation instruments, data precession, and modeling, as well as the mechanism analysis.

Cyanobacterial photo-driven mixotrophic metabolism and its advantages for biosynthesis

Cyanobacterium offers a promising chassis for phototrophic production of renewable chemicals. Although engineered cyanobacteria can achieve similar product carbon yields as heterotrophic microbial hosts, their production rate and titer under photoautotrophic conditions are 10 to 100 folds lower than those in fast growing E. colt. Cyanobacterial factories face three indomitable bottlenecks. first, photosynthesis has limited ATP and NADPH generation rates. Second, CO2 fixation by ribulose-l,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase （RuBisCO） has poor efficiency. Third, CO2 mass transfer and light supply are deficient within large photobioreac- tors. On the other hand, cyanobacteria may employ organic substrates to promote phototrophic cell growth, Nz fixation, and metabolite synthesis. The photo-fermenta- tions show enhanced photosynthesis, while CO2 loss from organic substrate degradation can be reused by the Calvin cycle. In addition, the plasticity of cyanobacterial path- ways （e.g., oxidative pentose phosphate pathway and the TCA cycle） has been recently revealed to facilitate the catabolism. The use of cyanobacteria as ＂green E. colt＂ could be a promising route to develop robust photobiorefineries.

Time-domain nonlinear aeroelastic analysis and wind tunnel test of a flexible wing using strain-based beam formulation

A theoretical formulation for time-domain nonlinear aeroelastic analysis of a flexible wing model is presented and validated by wind tunnel tests. A strain-based beam model for nonlinear structural analysis is combined with the Unsteady Vortex Lattice Method(UVLM) to form the complete framework for aeroelastic analysis. The nonlinear second-order differential equations are solved by an implicit time integration scheme that incorporates a Newton-Raphson sub-iteration technique. An advanced fiber optic sensing technique is firstly used in a wind tunnel for measuring large structural deformations. In the theoretical study, the nonlinear flutter boundary is determined by analyzing the transient response about the nonlinear static equilibrium with a series of flow velocities. The gust responses of the wing model at various gust frequencies are also studied. Comparisons of the theoretical and experimental results show that the proposed method is suitable for determining the nonlinear flutter boundary and simulating the gust response of flexible wings in the time domain.

In situ confocal microprobe Raman spectroscopy results showed that O22-, O2- and O2δ- (0 formed on the O2 pretreated cerium oxide sample when the temperature was below 423 K. At 1023 K, only CeO2 f2g peak (at 449 cm-1) and O2- species (at 1159 cm-1) were observed on the surface. The reactivity of methane with the oxygen species was lower than that of ethane with the oxygen species.

One-step synthesis of feO(OH)nanoparticles by electric explosion of iron wire underwater

In this study,we investigated electric explosion of iron wire in distilled water with different energy input adjusted by charging *** as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),showing the presence of iron and multiple iron-based compounds oxides with contents influenced by the experimental *** particular,pure feO(OH)nanoparticles were obtained using electric explosion of iron wire with energy input of 1125 j at charging voltage of 15 *** of discharge current and resistive voltage data indicate that the high energy input induced bystrong plasma discharge at high charging voltage is a key factor to form feO(OH).This study presents a one-step method to synthesize feO(OH)nanoparticles using electric explosion of iron wire.

Thelytokous Diglyphus wani:A more promising biological control agent against agromyzid leafminers than its arrhenotokous counterpart

Diglyphus wani(Hymenoptera:Eulophidae)is a dominant parasitoid that attacks agromyzid *** reproductive types occur in ***:arrhenotoky(in which virgin females produce only male offspring;and virgin females mate with males to produce bisexual offspring)and thelytoky(in which virgin females produce female offspring).As a potential biological control agent,exploring the differences in the relevant biological parameters of both strains is *** this study,comparisons between the two strains of *** were performed by evaluating the life table and host-killing *** thelytokous strain exhibited significantly better life table parameters than its arrhenotokous *** values for the intrinsic rate of increase,finite rate of increase,net reproductive rate,and fecundity were found in the thelytokous *** thelytokous strain also performed better than the arrhenotokous strain in terms of net parasitism,host-feeding,host-stinging,and total host-killing ***,populations of the thelytokous strain could grow fast and kill more *** conclusion,the thelytokous strain of *** may be the more promising biological agent against agromyzid leafminers compared to its arrhenotokous ***,since the thelytokous strain of *** is only known to produce females,it should be given priority in future biocontrol applications owing to the cost savings of breeding only females.

Improved mechanical properties and strengthening mechanism with the altered precipitate orientation in magnesium alloys

Aging prior to twinning deformation was proposed to alter the precipitate orientation of the plate-shapedβ-MgAlfrom(0002)basal planes(named basal plates)to■prismatic planes(named prismatic plates)in AZ31 Mg *** experimental results showed that the compressive yield strength(CYS)of the sample containing prismatic plates increased 40 MPa and the compression ratio raised by 22%compared to that containing basal *** underlying strengthening mechanism was analyzed via a yield strengthen(YS)model with a function of grain size,precipitate characters(size,oritention,fraction)and Schmid factor(Sf).It revealed that the improvement of CYS was mainly attributed to the altered precipitate orientation and refined grain size produced by twinning ***,the prismatic plates always have a stronger hardening effect on basal slip than basal plates under the same varites of precipitate diameter and ***,the decreased CRSS ratio of prismatic slip to basal slip revealed that the activity of non-basal slip in Mg alloy might be *** activated slip systems provided more mobile dislocations,contributing to the large compression ratio of the Mg rolled sheet with prismatic plates.
