Two-neutron transfer reactions as a tool to study the interplay between shape coexistence and quantum phase transitions

The atomic mass table presents zones where the structure of the states changes rapidly as a function of the neutron or proton *** them,notable examples are the A≈100 Zr region,the Pb region around the neutron midshell(N=104),and the N≈90 rare-earth *** observed phenomena can be understood in terms of either shape coexistence or quantum phase *** objective of this study is to find an observable that can distinguish between both shape coexistence and quantum phase *** an observable to be analyzed,we selected the two-neutron transfer intensity between the 0+states in the parent and daughter *** framework used for this study is the Interacting Boson Model(IBM),including its version with configuration mixing(IBM-CM).To generate wave functions of isotope chains of interest needed for calculating transfer intensities,previous systematic studies using IBM and IBM-CM were used without changing the *** results of two-neutron transfer intensities are presented for Zr,Hg,and Pt isotopic chains using ***,for Zr,Pt,and Sm isotopic chains,the results are presented using IBM with only a single configuration,i.e.,without using configuration *** Zr,the two-neutron transfer intensities between the ground states provide a clear observable,indicating that normal and intruder configurations coexist in the low-lying spectrum and cross at A=98→*** can help clarify whether shape coexistence induces a given quantum phase *** Pt,in which shape coexistence is present and the regular and intruder configurations cross for the ground state,there is almost no impact on the value of the two-neutron transfer *** is the situation with Hg,where the ground state always has a regular *** the Sm isotope chain,which is one of the quantum phase transition paradigms,the value of the two-neutron transfer intensity is affected strongly.

On the analytical solution of transient friction in channel flows

The transient friction in channel mean flows is the sum of two contributions,i.e., the underlying laminar flow(ULF) and the purely turbulent component(PTC), and the contributions are analyzed separately by theoretical experiments. It is found that,the transient friction may be higher or remarkably lower than that in equal-Reynolds number steady-state flows. The universal time constant for plane-parallel laminar flows is reported, and the role of the time constant in a turbulent mean flow is examined. It is shown that the time constant is related to the turbulence's frozen time. Finally, a study of the logarithmic layer during the transient flow is accomplished, which shows that the logarithmic layer is destroyed.

Avian responses to an extreme weather event:The case of the‘Filomena’snowstorm in Madrid(central Spain)

Cold spells and severe weather may have detrimental effects in wild birds,but owing to the stochastic nature of these events,it is not always possible to measure their *** january 2021,a strong snowstorm known as‘Filomena’affected Spain,mainly the region of Madrid(Central Spain),which was fully covered with snow and suffered freezing temperatures for a *** bird surveys conducted in the winter-spring of 2020 and 2021(before and after Filomena)at same locations,we addressed the possible impact of the cold spell in three widespread gamebirds:Wood Pigeon(Columba palumbus),eurasian Magpie(Pica pica)and Red-legged Partridge(Alectoris rufa).No significant abundance differences were found between years for none of the species and hunting pressure was only significantly reduced for Partridges,hence this species may have been negatively affected by *** suggest that in response to Filomena,Pigeons conducted partial migration in search of better conditions,while Magpies aggregated in certain areas of Madrid and Partridges endured the harsh conditions within their home *** results highlight the importance to alleviate negative impacts of extreme weather events in wild birds through management actions,especially for sedentary species.

CO oxidation under lean and stoichiometric conditions over ceriazirconia with very low metal contents(Cu,Co,Ag and Pt)

In this work,several ceria-zirconia based catalysts with very lo w（and equimolar） metal contents were prepared,characterised and tested for the CO oxidatio n reaction（under lean and stoichiometric conditions）,trying to emulate those conditions found in a diesel oxidation catalyst（DOC） system from a diesel engine and those encountered under gasoline exhaust（λ=1）.The metals chosen are Cu,Co,Ag and Pt（as a reliable benchmark）.The results reveal enormous differences among reducibility and catalytic activity despite quite similar structural and textural properties of the catalysts,showing differences among dispersion（Ag-catalyst seems to present a low level of dispersion）.This catalyst seems to be characterised,as well,by a strong electronic interaction between Ce and Ag centres which is suggested to yield an improved reducibility under H2-TPR ***,the order in catalytic activity（Cu>Ag>Co≈Pt>>support） seems not to follow the order found in reducibility and the Cu-catalyst seems to be the most active independently on the reaction conditions,yielding nearly overlapped CO oxidation catalytic *** restingly,a stro ng correlation between the catalytic activity under the two conditions tested and the OSC values of the Ce0.8Zr0.2O2-supported metal catalysts is ***,OSC parameter measured at 150℃ can be used as a relevant descriptor to evaluate the CO oxidation activity at low and medium conversions for the investigated catalysts,much better than the H2-TPR measurements.

Quality assessment of the Topo-Iberia CGPS stations and data quality's effects on postfit ionosphere-free phase residuals

This paper analyzed GPS data from the Topo-Iberia network spanning almost 12 years(2008-2020).The data quality information for all 26 Topo-Iberia stations is provided for the first time,complementing the Spanish Geological Survey’s storage *** analyses based on quality indicators obtained using TeQC have been carried *** guidelines and data quality information from the IGS stations have been considered as the quality references,with the stations ALjI,ePCU,and TIOU standing out as the worst stations,while on the contrary,FUeN,PALM,PILA,and TRIA meet the quality requirements to become an IGS *** relationship between the GPS data quality and their GAMIT-and Gipsy X-derived postfit ionosphere-free phase residuals has also been investigated,and the results reveal an inversely proportional *** has been found that the stations showing an increase in elevation of the horizon line,also show an increase in cycle slips and multipath,are among the poorest quality stations,and among those with the highest postfit RMS of phase ***,the evolution of the vegetation around the antenna should be considered as it could cause a progressive loss of quality,which is not complying with the IGS *** quality assessment shows that the Topo-Iberia stations are appropriate for geodetic purposes,but permanent monitoring would be necessary to avoid the least possible loss of data and *** addition,a method to characterize the GNSS data quality is proposed.

Comparing Fine-Tuning, Zero and Few-Shot Strategies with Large Language Models in Hate Speech Detection in english

Large Language Models(LLMs)are increasingly demonstrating their ability to understand natural language and solve complex tasks,especially through text *** of the relevant capabilities is contextual learning,which involves the ability to receive instructions in natural language or task demonstrations to generate expected outputs for test instances without the need for additional training or gradient *** recent years,the popularity of social networking has provided a medium through which some users can engage in offensive and harmful online *** this study,we investigate the ability of different LLMs,ranging from zero-shot and few-shot learning to *** experiments show that LLMs can identify sexist and hateful online texts using zero-shot and few-shot approaches through information ***,it is found that the encoder-decoder model called Zephyr achieves the best results with the fine-tuning approach,scoring 86.811%on the explainable Detection of Online Sexism(eDOS)test-set and 57.453%on the Multilingual Detection of Hate Speech Against Immigrants and Women in Twitter(Hateval)***,it is confirmed that the evaluated models perform well in hate text detection,as they beat the best result in the Hateval task *** error analysis shows that contextual learning had difficulty distinguishing between types of hate speech and figurative ***,the fine-tuned approach tends to produce many false positives.

Genotype-based precision nutrition strategies for the prediction and clinical management of type 2 diabetes mellitus

Globally,type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)is one of the most common metabolic disorders.T2DM physiopathology is influenced by complex interrelationships between genetic,metabolic and lifestyle factors(including diet),which differ between populations and geographic *** fact,excessive consumptions of high fat/high sugar foods generally increase the risk of developing T2DM,whereas habitual intakes of plant-based healthy diets usually exert a protective ***,genomic studies have allowed the characterization of sequence DNA variants across the human genome,some of which may affect gene expression and protein functions relevant for glucose *** comprehensive literature review covers the impact of gene-diet interactions on T2DM susceptibility and disease progression,some of which have demonstrated a value as biomarkers of personal responses to certain nutritional ***,novel genotype-based dietary strategies have been developed for improving T2DM control in comparison to general lifestyle ***,progresses in other omics areas(epigenomics,metagenomics,proteomics,and metabolomics)are improving current understanding of genetic insights in T2DM clinical *** more investigation is still needed,the analysis of the genetic make-up may help to decipher new paradigms in the pathophysiology of T2DM as well as offer further opportunities to personalize the screening,prevention,diagnosis,management,and prognosis of T2DM through precision nutrition.

Research on bivalves is fast-growing,including genome-wide analyses and genome *** characteristics qualify oysters as a valuable model to explore repetitive DNA sequences and their genome *** we char-acterize the satellitomes of five species in the family Ostreidae(Crassostrea angulata,***,***,***,Ostrea edulis),revealing a substantial number of satellite DNAs(satDNAs)per genome(ranging between 33 and 61)and peculiarities in the composition of their *** satDNAs were either associated to or derived from transposable elements,displaying a scarcity of transposable element-unrelated satDNAs in these *** to the non-conventional satellitome constitution and dominance of Helitron-associated satDNAs,comparative satellitomics demanded more in-depth analyses than standardly *** analyses(including ***,the first bivalve species with a defined satellitome)revealed that 13 satDNAs occur in all six oyster genomes,with Cg170/HindIII satDNA being the most abundant in all of *** the“satDNA library model”highlighted the necessity to adjust this term when studying tandem repeat evolution in organisms with such *** repetitive sequences with potential variation in the organizational form and repeat-type affiliation are examined across related species,the introduction of the terms“Te library”and“repetitive DNA library”becomes essential.

The myelin sheath is a lipoprotein-rich,multilayered structure capable of increasing conduction velocity in central and peripheral myelinated nerve *** to the complex structure and composition of myelin,various histological techniques have been developed over the centuries to evaluate myelin under normal,pathological or experimental ***,methods to assess myelin integrity or content are key tools in both clinical diagnosis and neuroscience *** this review,we provide an updated summary of the composition and structure of the myelin sheath and discuss some histological procedures,from tissue fixation and processing techniques to the most used and practical myelin histological staining *** the lipoprotein nature of myelin,the main features and technical details of the different available methods that can be used to evaluate the lipid or protein components of myelin are described,as well as the precise ultrastructural techniques.
