Occurrence and Emplacement of Chromite Ores in Sindhudurg District,Maharashtra,India

In the present study,we present the occurrence and emplacement of chromite ore deposits from two abandoned mines（Kankavali[janoli]and Wagda） in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra,*** ores,that occurred as lenses and are associated with metamorphic and ultrabasic rocks,consist of octahedral grains of chromite,while clinochlore is present between the interstices of these *** Kankavali（janoli） and Wagda ores revealed a dominance of Cr_2O_3 followed by FeO and variable proportions of A1_2O_3,MgO,and SiO_*** former deposits have a slightly higher Cr_2O_3（average 52 wt%） and FeO（～18 wt%） than those from Wagda（Cr_2O_3～50 wt%,FeO～25 wt%）.The similar Cr~# values（0.73 for Kankavali[janoli],0.74 for Wagda） correspond to those reported for typical podiform-type chromite *** suggest that the ores were emplaced as phacoliths in folded outcrops with a steep easterly dip and a northwest-southeast *** postulate the continuation of the fold structure from janoli to Wagda（～4.5 km apart） and the probable （sporadic） occurrence of chromite along this *** possibility of the contribution of chromite grains from these areas to the coastal placer deposits cannot be ruled out.

Cold Workability limits of Brass were studied as a function of friction, aspect ratio and specimen geometry. Five standard shapes of the axis symmetric specimens of cylindrical with aspect ratios 1.0 and 1.5, ring, tapered and flanged were selected for the present investigation. Specimens were deformed in compression between two flat platens to predict the metal flow at room temperature. The longitudinal and oblique cracks were obtained as the two major modes of surface fractures. Cylindrical and ring specimen shows the oblique surface crack while the tapered and flanged shows the longitudinal crack. Machine Vision system using PC based video recording with a CCD camera was used to analyze the deformation of 4 X 4 mm square grid marked at mid plane of the specimen. The strain paths obtained from different specimens exhibited nonlinearity from the beginning to the end of the strain path. The circumferential stress component Os increasingly becomes tensile with continued deformation. On the other hand the axial stress Oz , increased in the very initial stages of deformation but started becoming less compressive immediately as barreling develops. The nature of hydrostatic stress on the rim of the flanged specimen was found to be tensile. Finite element software ANSYS has been applied for the analysis of the upset forming process. When the stress values obtained from finite element analysis were compared to the measurements of grids using Machine Vision system it was found that they were in close proximity.

A wideband rectangular patch antenna resonat- ing at 3.5 GHz and 8 GHz frequencies is developed on a flexible substrate, which can be used for wearable applications. The proposed antenna gives a wide impe- dance bandwidth of 116%, operating from *** to 9.5 GHz, covering most of the ultra-wideband （UWB） operating frequency range. A two-element multiple-input multiple-output （MIMO） system is developed using the proposed antenna, and the mutual coupling between the two antennas for various separations and frequencies is analyzed by using artificial neural networks （ANNs）. The neural structure is trained by using different ANN algorithms and a comparative study is made between them. It is shown that, quasi-Newton （QN） and quasi- Newton multi layer perceptron （QN-MLP） algorithms are better in terms of training, testing errors, and correlation coefficient.

To develop and characterize introgression lines for leaf and neck blast resistance, 326 introgression lines were developed using various accessions of six different AA genome wild species in the genetic background of elite Indian varieties like PRl14 and Pusa 44 and were screened for blast resistance. Stringent phenotyping coupled with genotyping using gene based markers led to the identification of four resistant introgression lines, which showed promising resistance and do not possess any of the tested genes. Furthermore, multi-location screening confirmed the field resistance of the four introgression lines to both leaf and neck blast. Molecular characterization of these introgression lines using genome-wide simple sequence repeat markers revealed the presence of small percentage of wild Oryza genome introgrssion. So these lines can be used for mapping and identification of novel leaf and neck blast resistance genes. Thus, these four introgression lines can be considered as new genetic resources for blast resistance.

CMOS devices play a major role in most of the digital design, since CMOS devices have larger density and consume less power. The integrated circuit performance mostly depends on the basic devices and its scaling methods, but in conventional CMOS devices in ultra deep submicron technology, leakage power becomes the major portion apart of dynamic power. The demerits of the conventional CMOS is less speed and, more leakage, for any digital design PDP is the figure of merit which can be used to determine energy consumed per switching event, hence we designed a NOVEL NMOS and PMOS which has superior performance than conventional PMOS and NMOS, the design and performance checked at 90 nm, 180 nm and 45 nm technology and calculate the performance values.

The present work reveals the study of mechanical properties of Al2024-Tungsten carbide MMCs containing tungsten carbide (WC) particulates. The reinforcing particulates in the Al2024 alloy were varied from 0% to 5% by weight. The vortex method of cast production was employed to fabricate the MMCs, in which the reinforcement was poured into the vortex created by stirring the molten metal by means of a mechanical agitator. The composite so produced was subjected to a series of mechanical tests. The results of this study revealed that as the tungsten carbide particle content was increased, there were significant increases in the ultimate tensile strength, hardness and young’s modulus, compressive strength, accompanied by a reduction in its ductility. An attempt is made in the paper to provide explanations for these phenomena.

Based on the evidence that hemochromatosis, an iron-overload disease, drives hepatocellular carcinoma, we hypothesized that chronic exposure to excess iron, either due to genetic or environmental causes, predisposes an individual to cancer. Using pancreatic cancer as our primary focus, we employed cell culture studies to interrogate the connection between excess iron and cancer, and combined in vitro and in vivo studies to explore the connection further. Ferric ammonium citrate was used as an exogenous iron source. Chronic exposure to excess iron induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT) in normal and cancer cell lines, loss of p53, and suppression of p53 transcriptional activity evidenced from decreased expression of p53 target genes(p21, cyclin D1, Bax, SLC7A11). To further extrapolate our cell culture data, we generated EL-KrasG12D( EL-Kras) mouse(pancreatic neoplastic mouse model) expressing Hfe+/+ and Hfe-/- genetic background. p53 target gene expression decreased in EL-Kras/Hfe-/- mouse pancreas compared to EL-Kras/Hfe+/+ mouse pancreas. Interestingly, the incidence of acinar-to-ductal metaplasia and cystic pancreatic neoplasms(CPN) decreased in EL-Kras/Hfe-/- mice, but the CPNs that did develop were larger in these mice than in EL-Kras/Hfe+/+ mice. In conclusion, these in vitro and in vivo studies support a potential role for chronic exposure to excess iron as a promoter of more aggressive disease via p53 loss and SLC7A11 upregulation within pancreatic epithelial cells.

Mapping of Aluminous Rich Laterite Depositions through Hyper Spectral Remote Sensing

Increased dimensionality of the satellite data proves to be very useful for discriminating features with very close spectral matching. Present study concentrates on the retrieval of reflectance spectra from the level one radiometrically corrected data in Koraput district (Orissa) for the Bauxite ore. In the present study, atmospheric correction model FLAASH has been used to retrieve reflectance from the radiance data. Preprocessing of the dataset has been done before applying atmospheric correction on the dataset. Spectral subsetting of noise prone bands has been successfully done. Local destriping of the affected bands has been done using a 3*3 local mean filter. Spectral signatures of samples were derived from the processed data. Spectral signature of each sample and derived features vectors were correlated with the satellite image of the area and distribution of each feature was demarcated. Spatial abundance of each feature was used in preparation of mineral abundance map. Accuracy of the map was assessed using training sets of representative geological units. The mineral abundance mapping using the spectral analysis of the reflectance image involves the endmember collection using the N-Dimensional visualizer tool in ENVI software. Laterite, Bauxite, Iron and silica rich Aluminous laterite soil, Alluvium and Forest were selected as the end members after understanding the geology and analysis of the reflectance image. Various mapping techniques were applied to generate the final classified mineral abundance Map, Linear Spectral Unmixing, Mixture Tune Matched Filtering, Spectral Feature Fitting, Spectral Angle Mapper were the techniques used. Results have revealed the ability of Hyper spectral Remote sensing data for the identification and mapping of Hydrothermal altered products like Bauxite, Aluminous Laterite. This technology can be utilized for targeting minerals in the altered zone.
