The study of flow through porous media has been of cardinal gravity in oil and gas applications like enhanced oil recovery(EOR),acidizing,fracturing,*** of the most anticipated apprehensions is that the core flooding and simulation have become prevalent to understand the flow through porous *** study aims at simulating and analyzing the effect of alkaline surfactant flooding through heterogeneous permeability conditions in the lab-scale *** conventional methods of core flood deal with the effective permeability of the system without considering the effect of heterogeneity within the *** heterogeneous studies are conducted by simulating a finely meshed 2-D axisymmetric model of the sand *** novel Karanj oil surfactant extracted from Pongamia Pinnata,and partially hydrolyzed polyacryl amide polymer are considered for the physicochemical properties of displacing fluid used in the *** heterogeneity combinations and displacing fluid injection flow rates are introduced for a single absolute permeability *** indicate a trend of oil recovery upright with increasing vertical permeability.A lower areal sweep efficiency and early breakthrough are observed in models with high horizontal ***,the effect of heterogeneity on oil recovery is reduced with the increase in injection flow rates of displacing *** present work utilizes computational fluid dynamics to model multiphase flow through a heterogeneous permeability media and its effect on oil recovery.

Optimization of variables and assessment of in-vitro and in-vivo antihyperlipidemic activity of Eudragit RS nanoparticles containing simvastatin

Simvastatin, a BcS class II drug, is associated with poor aqueous solubility, first-pass metabolism and short half-life. In the present work, nanoparticles were prepared and evaluated. Optimization of formulation and process parameters was done through the use of independent and dependent variables. Preliminary studies were done to determine suitable range of the concentration of Eudragit polymer (10%–30%) and the ratio of drug to polymer (1:1 to 1:5) for the formation of nanoparticles by emulsification and a solvent evaporation technique. Results revealed that the mean size of nanoparticles was affected by stirring speed from 5000 RPM, 8000 RPM, and 12000 RPM. The results of increase in association efficiency and percent yield with increase in amount of drug from 100 mg, 150 mg, and 200 mg in selected range were observed. In-vitro release studies showed that two formulations possess highest initial burst and slow sustained drug release. There was 2.93-fold decrease in total cholesterol and 3.27-fold increases in triglyceride level during in-vivo study.

Synthesis and characterization of Nanocapsules of α-Fe(NicoAl) Solid-solution

α-Fe(NicoAl) solid-solution nanocapsules were prepared with pure powders of Fe, Ni, co and Al by the plasma arc-discharging using a copper crucible. The shapes of the nanocapsules are in polyhedrons with the core/shell structure. The body centered cubic (Bcc) phase is formed in the core. The size of the nanocapsules is in the range of 10-120 nm and the thickness of the shell is 4-11 nm. Saturation magnetization jS=150 Am2/kg and coercivity iHc=24.3 kA/m are achieved for the nanocapsules.

Targeting the complement system in pancreatic cancer drug resistance:a novel therapeutic approach

Pancreatic cancer is ranked as the fourth leading cause of cancer-related mortality and is predicted to become the second leading cause of cancer-related death by *** cause of this high mortality rate is due to pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma’s rapid progression and metastasis,and development of drug ***,cancer immunotherapy is becoming a strong candidate to not only treat various cancers but also to combat against *** have suggested that complement system pathways play an important role in cancer progression and chemoresistance,especially in pancreatic cancer.A recent report also suggested that several signaling pathways play an important role in causing chemoresistance in pancreatic cancer,major ones including nuclear factor kappa B,signal transducer and activator of transcription 3,c-mesenchymal-epithelial transition factor,and phosphoinositide-3-kinase/protein kinase *** addition,it has also been proven that the complement system has a very active role in establishing the tumor microenvironment,which would aid in promoting tumorigenesis,progression,metastasis,and ***,it has been shown that the downstream products of the complement system directly upregulate inflammatory mediators,which in turn activate these chemo-resistant ***,targeting complement pathways could be an innovative approach to combat against pancreatic cancer drugs *** this review,we have discussed the role of complement system pathways in pancreatic cancer drug resistance and a special focus on the complement as a therapeutic target in pancreatic cancer.

Superplasticity Enhanced by Two-stage Deformation in a Hot-extruded AZ61 Magnesium Alloy

A two-stage strain rate deformation method is proposed to enhance the superplasticity in a hot extruded AZ61 alloy. In the stage-one of deformation, a relatively high strain rate was applied in order to obtain fine grains through dynamic recrystallization. The optimum strain rate for DRX at 300℃ was identified as -5×10-3s-1. Stage-two is conducted at relatively low strain rate in order to utilize the fine grains refined by DRX during stage-one to make the grain boundary sliding operate more smoothly, which resulting in enhanced superplastic elongation from 350% to 440%.

Geochemical analysis and quality assessment of geothermal water in Gujarat,India

Geothermal water can have a wide range of direct applications,including drinking,domestic use,irrigation and industrial *** study analyses geothermal water from Dholera,Diu,Gandhar,Kutch,Porbandar,Tulsishyam,and Unai regions located in Gujarat,India,to determine the hydrochemistry for establishing the water's suitability for drinking and irrigation *** each region,three different water samples were *** drinking purpose,total eleven water quality parameters such as pH,electrical conductivity,total dissolved solids,calcium,magnesium,sodium,potassium,chloride,sulphate,carbonate and bicarbonate were *** and Durov plots were used to understand the ionic composition and evolution of *** for irrigation,the parameters such as total dissolved solids,sodium absorption ration,electrical conductivity,and potential salinity were used for water quality *** Plot was plotted to understand the sodium and salinity hazard of *** quality index and irrigation water quality index were used to assess the water quality for making the analytical procedure *** findings indicate that the water samples from the Dholera and Diu areas had extremely high values for both the water quality index and total dissolved solids *** in these places may be appropriate for making *** the other samples show adequacy for utilization in irrigation purpose.

Insight into the relationship between non-linear mixed convection and thermal radiation:The case of Newtonian fluid flow due to non-linear stretching

The current research focuses the light on the characterization of buoyancy-driven non-linear mixed convection and non-linear radiation in a Newtonian flow over a nonlinearly stretching vertical sheet,and this type of flow has useful applications in many industrial processes,such as the paper and pulp industry,polymer industry,electronic device cooling,solar collectors,gas turbine plants,and nuclear *** appropriate transformations,governing PDEs for non-linear mixed convection are reduced to higher-order non-linear ODEs and those are numerically *** with tabular presentations of computed results,the graphical representations are generated to elucidate the effects of involved parameters on convection transport properties and their *** demonstrates that flow velocity increases near the surface and decreases away from the surface as the non-linear convection parameter ***,increments in the thermal buoyancy,temperature ratio and non-linear radiation parameters result in the boost of *** temperature decreases as linear and non-linear buoyancy-related parameters(non-linear convection and thermal buoyancy parameters)are of higher *** contrast,the temperature rises with two non-linear thermal radiation-related parameters(thermal ratio and non-linear radiation parameters).For greater values of the non-linear stretching related parameter,a lower velocity and a higher temperature are *** non-linear convection,thermal buoyancy,thermal ratio and non-linear radiation parameters contribute toward the reduction of the magnitude of surface-drag force and growth of the surface cooling ***,with the non-linearity in surface stretching there are significant percentage hikes of surface-drag force magnitude and surface cooling rate.

Electro-osmotic flow and heat transfer of a non-Newtonian fluid in a hydrophobic microchannel with Navier slip

In this paper, we investigate the implications of electro-osmosis on electrohydrodynamic transport of a non-Newtonian fluid on a hydrophobic micro-channel by developing a suitable analytical method. Velocity-slip and temperature-jump conditions are paid due attention. An attempt has been made to examine the effects of rheological and electro-osmotic parameters on the kinematics of the fluid. The nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation governing the formation of the electrical double layer and the body force that is generated by the applied potential are accounted for in the study. Perturbation solutions are presented. In order to exhibit the applicability of the analysis, the problem of electro-osmotic flow and heat transfer of blood in an arteriole has been taken up as an illustrative example of a real-life problem. An intensive quantitative study has been made through numerical computation of the physical variables involved in the analysis, which are of special interest in the study. The computational results are presented graphically. The study reveals that the temperature of blood can be controlled by increasing/decreasing the joule heating parameter.
