The Relative Orientation between Local Magnetic Field and Galactic Plane in Low Latitude Dark clouds

In this work,we study the magnetic field morphology of selected star-forming clouds spread over the galactic latitude(b)range−10°to 10°.The polarimetric observations of clouds cB24,cB27 and cB188 are conducted to study the magnetic field geometry of those clouds using the 104 cm Sampurnanand Telescope(ST)located at ARIES,Manora Peak,Nainital,*** observations are combined with those of 14 further low latitude clouds available in the *** of these clouds are located within a distance range 140–500 pc except for cB3(∼2500 pc),cB34(∼1500 pc),cB39(∼1500 pc)and cB60(∼1500 pc).Analyzing the polarimetric data of 17 clouds,we find that the alignment between the envelope magnetic field(θ^(env)_(B))and galactic plane(GP)(θGP)of the low-latitude clouds varies with their galactic longitudes(l).We observe a strong correlation between the longitude(l)and the offset(θ_(off)=|θ^(env)_(B)-θ_(GP))which shows that θ^(env)_(B) is parallel to the GP when the clouds are situated in the region 115°cal deflection irrespective of the orientation of θGP when the clouds are at l250°.To check the consistency of our results,the stellar polarization data available in the Heiles catalog are overlaid on the DSS image of the clouds having mean polarization vector of field *** results are almost consistent with the Heiles data.A systematic discussion is presented in the *** effect of turbulence in the cloud is also studied which may play an important role in causing the misalignment phenomenon observed between θ^(env)_(B) and θ_(GP).We have used Herschel(Herschel is an ESA space observatory with science instruments provided by European-led Principal Investigator consortia and with important participation from NASA.)SPIRE 500μm and ScUBA 850μm dust continuum emission maps in our work to understand the density structure of the clouds.

Status and prospects for symmetric organic redox flow batteries

As environmental concerns from fossil fuel consumption intensify, large-scale energy storage becomes imperative for the integration of renewable sources like wind, hydro, and solar with the electrical *** flow batteries, particularly those employing organic molecules, are positioned as a key technology for this purpose. This review explores the growing field of symmetric organic redox flow batteries(ORFBs) within this context. Unlike traditional asymmetric designs based on unique active materials for each electrode, symmetric ORFBs involve a single bipolar species for both electrodes. This review highlights the benefits of a symmetric design, and categorizes five distinct classes of organic bipolar molecules used in both aqueous and non-aqueous solvents. By providing a comprehensive overview of their cell cycling and performance characteristics, the strengths and weaknesses of the diverse categories of bipolar molecules are highlighted for both solvent systems, as are opportunities for future development. This should guide new research directions and advance the development of practical symmetric ORFBs.

Bi3+assisted luminescence in SrMoO_(4):Sm^(3+) red phosphors

In this paper,we report synthesis of pure SrMoO_(4),Sm^(3+)(1 at%-5 at%)doped SrMoO_(4)and Bi^(3+)(1 at%-3 at%)co-doped in 4 at%Sm^(3+)doped SrMoO_(4)(SrMoO_(4):4 Sm^(3+))phosphors by solution combustion *** X-ray diffraction(XRD)analysis reveals the tetragonal phase of all samples,also Bi^(3+)co-doping supports crystallite size growth and reduces lattice *** analysis of Sm^(3+)doped SrMoO_(4)ascertains a decrease in band gap and Bi^(3+)co-doping confirms the emergence of an absorbance peak at around 308 nm attributed to Bi^(3+)energy ***(PL)analysis ascertains an increase in emission peaks for Sm^(3+)doped SrMoO_(4)up to 4%concentration,which are attributed to an electron transition from 4 G5/2 to 6 Hj(j=5/2,7/2,9/2,and 11/2)energy levels of Sm^(3+)*** have explained the effects of Bi^(3+)co-doping on the luminescence of Sm^(3+)doped SrMoO_(4).The reduced microstrain and increased crystallinity of the phosphors as a result of Bi^(3+)co-doping and their correlation with the luminescence of Sm^(3+)ions are discussed.

Axonal regeneration following surgical nerve repair is slow and often incomplete,resulting in poor functional recovery which sometimes contributes to lifelong ***,there are no FDA-approved therapies available to promote nerve *** accelerates axonal regeneration,but systemic side effects presently outweigh its potential benefits for peripheral nerve *** authors describe herein a biodegradable polyurethane-based drug delivery system for the sustained local release of tacrolimus at the nerve repair site,with suitable properties for scalable production and clinical application,aiming to promote nerve regeneration and functional recovery with minimal systemic drug *** is encapsulated into co-axially electrospun polycarbonate-urethane nanofibers to generate an implantable nerve wrap that releases therapeutic doses of bioactive tacrolimus over 31 *** and drug loading are adjustable for applications in small and large caliber nerves,and the wrap degrades within 120 days into biocompatible *** released from the nerve wrap promotes axon elongation in vitro and accelerates nerve regeneration and functional recovery in preclinical nerve repair models while off-target systemic drug exposure is reduced by 80%compared with systemic *** its surgical suitability and preclinical efficacy and safety,this system may provide a readily translatable approach to support axonal regeneration and recovery in patients undergoing nerve surgery.

Effects of moisture content and feed rate on milling characteristics of wild apricot pits (Prunus armeniaca L.)

Milling with decortication of wild apricot pits was done in wild apricot pit decorticator working on the principle of“impact and compression”.The milling characteristics includes decortication efficiency,percentage of husk,percentage of broken kernels and output capacity was evaluated at the different levels of moisture content,i.e.,8%,10%,12%,14%and 16%(w.b.)and feed rates,i.e.,12 g/stroke,14 g/stroke,16 g/stroke,18 g/stroke and 20 g/*** moisture content as well as feed rate significantly(Pcted the decortication efficiency,percentage of husk as well as brokens and output *** efficiency was initially increased and then decreased and opposite nature was found for the percentage of *** percentage of broken kernels and output capacity decreases with the increase in moisture content,while output capacity increases with the increase in feed rate and brokens decreases with the increase in feed rate of wild apricot pits.

Dynamic buckling mechanism of pillar rockbursts induced by stress waves

Rockbursts are sudden and violent rock failures that can lead to huge production and equipment losses,injury or death of mining *** has been regarded as one of the key mechanisms of rockbursts,which are often induced by dynamic loads from mining excavations,such as drilling and blasting in underground *** paper attempts to investigate the dynamic buckling mechanism of pillar rockbursts in underground mining,by considering rockbursts as a dynamic stability problem of underground rock *** results include:(1)A new explanation of the“sudden and violent”phenomenon of rockbursts,characterized by exponential growth of the amplitudes of transverse displacement responses,even in the presence of rock damping;(2)Identification of the critical role in inducing rockbursts of dynamic loads that bear frequencies approximately double the natural pillar frequency;(3)The greater influence on rockburst occurrence of the amplitude of dynamic component relative to the static component of loads;and(4)Quantification of the relative effects of stress waveform of dynamic loads on pillar rockbursts,which are in decreasing order if other parameters remain constant:rectangular,sinusoidal,and exponential *** examples are provided and limitations of the approach are *** research is motivated by the on-going and ubiquitous occurrence of rockbursts in underground excavations all around the *** contrast to conventional methods that use rock specimens or rock materials to study rockbursts,this investigation emphasizes the structural effects on rockbursts,which has potential applications in hard rock mining engineering.

Microstructural Features of Spray-Deposited Immiscible Bearing Alloys Al-43Sn and Al-7Sn-1.3cu-1.3Ni

Two commercial grade aluminum based immiscible bearing alloys were spray-deposited using convergent-divergent type of nozzle. The processing parameters for spray-deposition were adjusted in such a way that most of the droplets arrived on the deposition substrate in either liquid or semi-liquid state. The microstructural features of spray-formed and as-cast alloys are compared. In spray-formed alloys equiaxed grains were observed. The cell boundaries and intercellular regions were observed to be decorated with sub-micron sized particles whereas in normal casting the second phase was observed to be segregated along grain boundaries. The morphology and distribution of second phase were observed to have similarity with those in over-spread and atomized powders produced under similar processing conditions. The microstructural features observed with variation in spray conditions are discussed in detail.

Effect of ultrasonic assisted sintering on mechanical properties and degradation behaviour of Mg15Nb3Zn1ca biomaterial

The present work investigates the effect of ultrasonic power(%)and the time of ultrasonic vibration on the sintered density and ultimate compressive strength(UcS)of Mg15Nb3Zn1ca fabricated using ultrasonic assisted conventional sintering(UAcS).The customized UAcS setup was designed and manufactured to conduct the experimentations.A customized ultrasonic stepped horn assembly was used for providing vibrations to the sample during ***,to evaluate the efficacy of ultrasonic vibration parameters,the developed setup was used to sinter Mg15Nb3Zn1ca composite *** study unveiled an increased sintered density and UcS of the fabricated sample by the increase in ultrasonic power(%).Moreover,a decrease in sintered density and UcS was observed with an increase in the time of ultrasonic vibration beyond a certain *** sintered with the assistance of ultrasonic vibration at 100%ultrasonic power,and 20 min of ultrasonic vibration resulted in a sintered density of 1.928±0.062 g·cm^(-3)and UcS of 234.9±12.3 *** obtained mechanical properties of the fabricated sample were comparable to the properties of cortical *** surface morphology and elemental compositions of samples fabricated using UAcS declared a fair dispersion of reinforcement in the matrix containing merely the source *** results of corrosion test have showed that the assistance of ultrasonic vibration suppressed the degradation behaviour of the sintered sample after performing electrochemical study of samples using 3-electorde cell ***15Nb3Zn1ca fabricated using UAcS showed a 50.18%and 9.08%of reduction in corrosion rate over conventionally sintered pure Mg and Mg15Nb3Zn1ca *** addition,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)results indicated an enhanced corrosion resistance of the Mg15Nb3Zn1ca composite material when fabricated at 100%of ultrasonic power with 20 min of vibration *** from that,electrochemical equivalent circuits also result

Alkaline phosphatase as a bio-indicator of phosphorus-eutrophy in freshwater ecosystems: A review

Limnologists have greatly advanced the understanding of indicators of phosphorus(P)-eutrophy in surface waters. Biotic variables such as macro-invertebrates, fish, zooplankton, benthic algae, and diatoms are extensively used for bio-assessment of eutrophy. New concepts highlight the importance of bed-sediment based “response” variables predicting functional shifts during eutrophication. A cross analysis of studies reveals that alkaline phosphatase(ALP), which serves as a proxy of P-deficiency, and also as an indicator of benthic anoxia/hypoxia-driven feedbacks, can be an easy to measure, cost-effective and reliable tool to assess changes in nutrient stoichiometry, trophic status, and ecological functioning at the sediment-water interface. Here, the issues discussed in this paper are highly relevant to explore new domains of research and “response” based ecosystem models for potential eutrophication management decisions. Because ALP is used in molecular cloning and fingerprinting studies, it is suggested that approaches based on the “omics” technologies need to be used to explore more intricate connections to empirically address ALP-P-eutrophy linkages to track eutrophication in freshwater ecosystems.

Exploration of deep seabed polymetallic sulphides: Scientific rationale and regulations of the International Seabed Authority

Polymetallic sulphides have been consistent source of metals like iron, copper, zinc and lead. Apart from these they are also seen as economically viable resources of silver and gold. As the demand of these metals is showing an astoundingly increasing trend, the search for their resources has also increased in similar folds. This has resulted in many nations' focus on deep seabed resources of the polymetallic sulphides. consequently, International Seabed Authority (ISBA) has provided 'Regulations' to obtain plan of work for exploration of polymetallic sulphide deposits in deep seabed 'Area'. Following the release of these Regulations, several countries are in the process of obtaining the licence for exploration of these metals from the deep seabed regions. Detailed information about the science and ISBA Regulations for exploration of polymetallic sulphide deposits is prerequisite to submit an application to ISBA for their exploration. The current contribution provides a comprehensive review of the science behind locating polymetallic sulphide deposits in geological setting of deep seabed as well as about the ISBA Regulations for their exploration.
