On the Development of Spatial/Temporal Solar Radiation Maps:A Minas Gerais(Brazilian)case Study

Appropriate information on solar resources is very important for a variety of technological areas, such as agriculture, meteorology, forestry engineering, and water resources, particularly for an innovative technology such as solar energy. In the market entry process of an innovative technology such as solar energy, the increased and sustained deployment of this energy technology strongly depends on the economy and reliability of the solar systems installed. The economy and reliability of a system are the consequences of a well-prepared project, resulting from an accurate knowledge of the solar resource available. Therefore, knowing the potential of the solar resource accurately is not only a need but also an imperative for the larger diffusion and use of the solar energy. The existing sources of the information on radiation in MG are quite varied, both at the institutional level and in different types of publications. The publications containing this information are project reports, internal reports of institutions, and several magazines. Thus, the quality of the data varies considerably, the information presents spatial and temporal discontinuity;moreover, the instruments and the measurement units are not standardised. The general objective of this paper is to recover, to qualify, to standardize, and to make available the best information from the current existing solar resource in MG, Brazil, either in the form of isoline charts of solar radiation or a numerical database. In this paper, the procedure to elaborate the maps of daily solar radiation and insolation, along with the monthly and annual averages, is described. We present one map with the localisation of the recording stations in addition to one annual and 12 monthly contour maps. The map of the daily global solar irradiation and the annual average determined in this project show that solar radiation on the state of Minas Gerais ranges from 4.5 to 6.5 kWh/m2. This work investigates the effect of cerium substation into strontium cobalt perovskites(ceSrcoO)for the oxidative degradation of OrangeⅡ(OII)in dark ambient conditions without the aid of any external stimulants such as light,heating or chemical *** OII degradation rate by ceSrcoO reached 65%in the first hour,whilst for the blank sample without cerium(SrcoO)took over 2 hr to reach the same level of OII ***,the cerium substitution improved the catalytic activity of the perovskite material,mainly associated with the ce0.1Sr0.9coO3 perovskite *** contacting ceSrcoO,the-N=Nazo bonds of the OII molecules broke down resulting in electron donation and the formation of *** electrons are injected into the ceSrcoO and resulted in a redox pair of co3+/co2+,establishing a bridge for the electron transfer between OII and the ***,the electrons also formed reactive species(·OH)responsible for OII degradation as evidenced by radical trapping *** species were formed via the reaction between 02 and donated electrons from OII with the aid of cobalt redox *** the prepared materials dispensed with the need for light irradiation and additional oxidants,it opens a window of environmental applications for treating contaminated wastewaters.

Stable NiO-ceO_(2) nanoparticles with improved carbon resistance for methane dry reforming

High surface area mixed oxide 8.7%NiO-ceO_(2) nanoparticles(122 m2/g;6-7 nm)were prepared using a reversed microemulsion method,and were tested for dry methane reforming(DRM).The catalytic activity of these nanoparticles remains stable under the severe conditions of DRM(700℃),and they show better carbon resistance than conventional NiO-ceO_(2) catalysts prepared without control of the *** activity and selectivity of nanoparticles and reference catalyst are similar,but nanoparticles reduce the accumulation of carbon by 63%during the DRM tests,which is a key feature for this *** and H_(2)-TPR suggest that the improved carbon resistance of the nanoparticles is due to the better interaction and cooperation between NiO and ceO_(2) mixed *** nanoparticles,the participation of cerium cations in the redox processes taking place during DRM stabilizes cationic species of *** the contrary,the catalyst prepared without control of the size suffers segregation of Ni during DRM reaction,and segregated Ni explains the higher catalytic formation of carbon.

effect of cu-ZnO-Al_2O_3 supported on H-ferrierite on hydrocarbons formation from cO hydrogenation

Methanol synthesis catalysts based on cu, Zn and Al were prepared by three methods and subsequently mixed with H-ferrierite zeolite in an aqueous suspension to disperse the catalysts over the support. These materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, N2 adsorption, transmission electron microscopy, temperature programmed reduction, NH3 and H2 temperature-programmed desorption, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. They were also applied to the cO hydrogenation reaction to produce dimethyl ether and hydrocarbons. The catalysts were prepared by coprecipitation under low and high supersaturation conditions and by a homogeneous precipitation method. The preparation technique was found to affect the precursor structural characteristics, such as purity and crystallinity, as well as the particle size distribution of the resulting catalyst. Low supersaturation conditions favored high dispersion of the cu species, increasing the methanol synthesis catalyst＇s metallic surface area and resulting in a homogeneous particle size distribution. These effects in turn were found to modify the zeolite properties, promoting both a low micropore volume and blockage of the zeolite acid sites. The effect of the methanol synthesis catalyst on the reaction was verified by the correlation between the cu surface area and the cO conversion rate.

The corpus cavernosum after treatment with dutasteride or finasteride： a histomorphometric study in a benign prostatic hyperplasia rodent model

erectile dysfunction is a common side effect of finasteride and dutasteride treatments. The objective of this study was to investigate the structural changes in the penis using a benign prostatic hyperplasia （BPH） rodent model treated with dutasteride or finasteride. Sixty male rats were divided into the following groups： c, untreated control rats; c ＋ D, control rats receiving dutasteride; c ＋ F, control rats receiving finasteride; H, untreated spontaneously hypertensive rats （SHRs）; H ＋ D, SHRs treated with dutasteride; and H ＋ F, SHRs treated with finasteride. Treatments were performed for 40 days, and penises were collected immediately thereafter. The organs were analyzed using histomorphometric methods to determine the cross-sectional penile area, as well as the surface density （Sv） of smooth muscle fibers, connective tissue, elastic system fibers, and sinusoidal spaces of the corpus cavernosum. The results were compared using a one-way ANOVA with Bonferroni＇s posttest. Groups c ＋ D and c ＋ F had a significantly smaller penile cross-sectional area, but more elastic system fiber Sv compared to Group c. Group c ＋ D showed less smooth muscle Sv, and Group H showed more connective tissue but a smaller sinusoidal space Sv in the corpus cavernosum compared to Group c. Groups H ＋ D and H ＋ F had less smooth muscle Sv than Group H. Group H ＋ D also had more connective tissue and elastic system fiber Sv than Group H. Both dutasteride and finasteride promoted penile modifications in the control rat penis, although this affect was ~reater in Group H animals. In this rodent model, dutasteride was the drug that most affected the corpus cavernosum.

Leishmaniasis is a set of diseases with a worldwide distribution that affects mainly economically underprivileged populations in developing countries. It has a major impact on public health, with a global cost of billions of dollars per year. The treatment and control of leishmaniasis vary according to the Leishmania species involved, which require reliable methods for species identification. Since most of the currently used methods have limitations, there is a need for assays that allow rapid, precise identification of the offending species. Real-time polymerase chain reactions in conjunction with dissociation curve analysis have been used to detect differences in the DNA composition of selected genes of Leishmania spp. Kinetoplast DNA is the main molecular target used because of its high copy number per parasite, but other targets have also been studied. As part of an effort to establish melting temperature standards for each target gene, we have reviewed the pertinent literature available in public databases, including Pub Med, Web of Science, Sci eLO and LILAcS, using the keywords "Leishmania", "leishmaniasis", "realtime PcR", "melting temperature", and "melting curve", alone or in combination. After applying eligibility criteria, 27 articles were selected for analysis. A considerable variation in the methodologies analyzed was found regarding molecular targets, standardization of the methods, reproducibility and specificity. Because of this, statistical analysis was not performed. In most cases, the methods were able to differentiate the parasite at the subgenus level or few species regardless of the target chosen.

Antiglycation and antioxidant activities of the crude extract and saponin fraction of Tribulus terrestris before and after microcapsule release

Objective:The present study investigated antiglycation and antioxidant activities of crude dry extract and saponin fraction of Tribulus *** also developed a method of microencapsulation and evaluated antiglycation and antioxidant activities of crude dry extract and saponin fraction before and after microcapsule ***:Antiglycation activity was determined by relative electrophoretic mobility(ReM),free amino groups and inhibition of advanced glycation end-product(AGe)*** activity was determined by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH),ferric ion-reducing antioxidant power(FRAP),nitric oxide(NO)and thiobarbituric acid reactive species(TBARS)*** were prepared using maltodextrin as wall material and freeze-drying as encapsulation *** characterization of microcapsules was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy,and encapsulation efficiency and microcapsule release were determined by total saponins *** and antioxidant assays were performed using crude dry extract and saponin fraction of *** before and after ***:Saponin fraction showed an increase of 32.8%total ***-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis showed the presence of saponins in the obtained *** evaluation by ReM demonstrated that samples before and after release presented antiglycation activity similar to bovine serum albumin treated with ***,samples inhibited AGe formation,highlighting treatment with saponin fraction after release(89.89%).Antioxidant tests demonstrated antioxidant activity of the *** dry extract before encapsulation presented the highest activities in DPPH(92.00%)and TBARS(32.49%)*** fraction before encapsulation in FRAP test(499μmol Trolox equivalent per gram of dry sample)and NO test(15.13μmol nitrite formed per gram of extract)presented the highest ***:This study presen
