Slightly acidic electrolyzed water(SAEW)has proven to be an efficient and novel sanitizer in food and agriculture *** study assessed the efficacy of SAEW(30 mg/L)at 40℃on the inactivation of foodbome pathogens and detachment of multi-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)*** underlying mechanism of MRS A biofilm under heated SAEW at 40℃treatment on metabolic profiles was *** results showed that the heated SAEW at 40℃significantly effectively against foodbome pathogens of 1.96-7.56(lg(CFU/g))reduction in pork,chicken,spinach,and *** heated SAEW at 40℃treatment significantly reduced MRS A biofilm cells by 2.41(lg(CFU/cm^(2))).The synergistic effect of SAEW treatment showed intense anti-biofilm activity in decreasing cell density and impairing biofilm cell *** metabolic response of MRSA biofilms,treated by SAEW at 40℃,revealed the alterations of intracellular metabolites,including amino acids,organic acid,fatty acid,and ***,signaling pathways involved in amino acid metabolism,energy metabolism,nucleotide synthesis,carbohydrate metabolites,and lipid biosynthesis were functionally disrupted by the SAEW at 40℃*** per our knowledge,this is the first research to uncover the potential mechanism of heated SAEW treatment against MRSA biofilm on food contact surface.

An Analysis of Specific Categories of Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities for Children of Participants of the Air Force health Study

Background: The Air Force health Study collected reproductive outcomes for live-born children of male Air Force veterans of the Vietnam War. Methods: Dioxin values for participants were obtained from blood samples. Analyses were conducted of occurrence of 16 specific categories of birth defects and developmental disabilities. Children were categorized as conceived before and after the start of participants’ Vietnam War service. Children conceived before the start of Vietnam War service were treated as being conceived when their fathers had unquantifiable dioxin values. Children conceived after the start of Vietnam War service for participants with missing dioxin values were excluded from primary analyses, but were used to assess the impact of their exclusion on conclusions. Correlation between values for specific categories for multiple children fathered by the same participant was accounted for. The dose-response relationship was treated as a step function increasing for dioxin values larger than adaptively identified individual thresholds changing with the specific category. Results: For 15 of 16 specific categories, the probability of occurrence increased substantially for a sufficiently high dioxin level above identified thresholds. Exclusion of children due to missing dioxin likely did not affect these results. Conclusions: Results supported the conclusion of substantial adverse effects on a wide variety of specific categories of birth defects and developmental disabilities due to sufficiently high exposures to dioxin, a toxic contaminant of Agent Orange used for herbicide spraying in the Vietnam War. Results may hold more generally, but might also have been affected by a variety of limitations.

Urea-assisted natural seawater electrolysis is an emerging technology that is effective for grid-scale carbon-neutral hydrogen mass production yet *** scaling relations is an effective strategy to break through the bottleneck of natural seawater ***,by DFT calculation,we demonstrated that the interface boundaries between Ni_(2)P and MoO_(2) play an essential role in the selfrelaxation of the Ni-O interfacial bond,effectively modulating a coordination number of intermediates to control independently their adsorption-free energy,thus circumventing the adsorption-energy scaling *** this conceptual model,a well-defined 3D F-doped Ni_(2)P-MoO_(2) heterostructure microrod array was rationally designed via an interfacial engineering strategy toward urea-assisted natural seawater *** a result,the F-Ni_(2)P-MoO_(2) exhibits eminently active and durable bifunctional catalysts for both hER and OER in acid,alkaline,and alkaline sea water-based *** in-situ analysis,we found that a thin amorphous layer of NiOOh,which is evolved from the Ni_(2)P during anodic reaction,is real catalytic active sites for the OER and UOR ***,such electrode-assembled urea-assisted natural seawater electrolyzer requires low voltages of 1.29 and 1.75 V to drive 10 and600 mA cm^(-2)and demonstrates superior durability by operating continuously for 100 h at 100 mA cm^(-2),beyond commercial Pt/C||RuO_(2) and most previous reports.

Experimental and Analytical Study of a Single Effect Distillation Using Electrical Evaporator Powered by Solar Energy

The experimental and analytical investigation was conducted on a solar-powered single-effect distillation (SED). The evaporator was designed to be an electrical evaporator as opposed to the steam evaporator that existed previously. Using sun-tracking solar panels, the electrical evaporator in the designed distillation unit was powered by solar energy. Approximately 20 kWh was utilized by the small-scale distillation apparatus. This type of design is mobile, so remote areas and countries with fragile economies can utilize it on a small or large scale. Utilizing the principles of energy and mass conservation, the amount of distillate water and power required for a single unit was determined, at the low salinity (2200 PPM) with fixed boiling point temperature (Tb = 75˚C), the unit performance is approx. 98.4%. The experimental results and those derived from a mathematical model were compared, and both showed strong accord. Using engineering equation solver (EES) software, a computer program was developed for this research scenario.

Development of Multilayer Models of Globular Star Clusters and Study of Their Evolution

Usually, models of globular star clusters are created by analyzing their luminosity and other observation parameters. The goal of this work is to create stable models of globular clusters based on the laws of mechanics. It is necessary to set the coordinates, velocities and masses of the stars so that as a result of their gravitational interaction the globular cluster is not destroyed. This is not an easy task, and it has been solved in this paper. Using an exact solution of the axisymmetric gravitational interaction of N-bodies, single-layer spherical structures were created. They are combined into multilayer models of globular clusters. An algorithm and a program for their creation is described. As a result of solving the problem of gravitational interaction of N bodies, evolution of 5-, 10-, and 15-layer structures was studied. During the inter-body interaction, there proceeds a transition from the initial specially organized structure to a structure with bodies, uniformly distributed in space. The number of inter-body collisions decreases, and the globular cluster model passes into the stable form of its existence. The collisions of bodies and the acquisition of rotational motion and thermal energy by them are considered. As a result of the passage to scaled dimensions, the results were recalculated to the conditions of globular star clusters. The periods of rotation and the temperatures of merged stars are calculated. Attention is paid to a decreased central-body mass in the analyzed models of globular star clusters.

Where Is Phase Velocity in Minkowski Space?

In the special theory of relativity, massive particles can travel at neither the speed of light c nor faster. Meanwhile, since the photon was quantized, many have thought of it as a point particle. how pointed? The idea could be a mathematical device or physical simplification. By contrast, the preceding notion of wave-group duality has two velocities: a group velocity vg and a phase velocity vp. In light vp = vg = c;but it follows from special relativity that, in massive particles, vp > c. The phase velocity is the product of the two best measured variables, and so their product constitutes internal motion that travels, verifiably, faster than light. how does vp then appear in Minkowski space? For light, the spatio-temporal Lorentz invariant metric is s2=c2t2−x2−y2−z2, the same in whatever frame it is viewed. The space is divided into 3 parts: firstly a cone, symmetric about the vertical axis ct > 0 that represents the world line of a stationary particle while the conical surface at s = 0 represents the locus for light rays that travel at the speed of light c. Since no real thing travels faster than the speed of light c, the surface is also a horizon for what can be seen by an observer starting from the origin at time t = 0. Secondly, an inverted cone represents, equivalently, time past. Thirdly, outside the cones, inaccessible space. The phase velocity vp, group velocity vg and speed of light are all equal in free space, vp = vg = c, constant. By contrast, for particles, where causality is due to particle interactions having rest mass mo > 0, we have to employ the Klein-Gordon equation with s2=c2t2−x2−y2−z2+mo2c2. Now special relativity requires a complication: *** = c2 where vg c and therefore vp > c. In the volume outside the cones, causality due to light interactions cannot extend beyond the cones. however, since vp > c and even vp >> c when wavelength λ is long, extreme phase velocities are then limited in their causal effects by the particle uncertainty σ,

Mass-Based Environmental Factor and Energy Assessment of Microwave-Assisted Synthesized Transition Metal Nanostructures

This paper describes mass-based energy phase-space proj.ction of microwave-assisted synthesis of transition metals (zinc oxide, palladium, silver, platinum, and gold) nanostructures. The proj.ction uses process energy budget (measured in kj. on the horizontal axes and process density (measured in kj.−1) on the vertical axes. These two axes allow both mass usage efficiency (Environmental-Factor) and energy efficiency to be evaluated for a range of microwave applicator and metal synthesis. The metrics are allied to the: second, sixth and eleventh principle of the twelve principle of Green Chemistry. This analytical approach to microwave synthesis (widely considered as a useful Green Chemistry energy source) allows a quantified dynamic environmental quotient to be given to renewable plant-based biomass associated with the reduction of the metal precursors. Thus allowing a degree of quantification of claimed “eco-friendly” and “sustainable” synthesis with regard to waste production and energy usage.

j.vian Planet Influence on the Forcing of Sunspot Cycles

The history of our solar system has been greatly influenced by the fact that there is a large gas giant planet, j.piter that has a nearly circular orbit. This has allowed relics of the early solar system formation to still be observable today. Since j.piter orbits the Sun with a period of approximately 12 years, it has always been thought that this could be connected to the nearly 11-year periodic peak in the number of sunspots observed. In this paper, the Sun and planets are considered to be moving about a center of mass point as the different planets orbit the Sun. This is the action of gravity that holds the solar system together. The center of mass for the j.piter-Sun system actually lies outside the Sun. The four gas giant planets dominate such effects and the four gas giant j.vian planets can be proj.cted together to determine an effective distance from the Sun’s center. Taken together these effects do seem to function as a sunspot forcing factor with a periodicity very close to 11 years. These predictions are made without consideration of any details of what is happening in the interior of the Sun. From these estimates, sunspot cycle 25 will be expected to peak in about September-October of 2025. Sunspot cycle 26 should peak in the year March of 2037.

Adaptive Random Effects/Coefficients Modeling

Adaptive fractional polynomial modeling of general correlated outcomes is formulated to address nonlinearity in means, variances/dispersions, and correlations. Means and variances/dispersions are modeled using generalized linear models in fixed effects/coefficients. Correlations are modeled using random effects/coefficients. Nonlinearity is addressed using power transforms of primary (untransformed) predictors. Parameter estimation is based on extended linear mixed modeling generalizing both generalized estimating equations and linear mixed modeling. Models are evaluated using likelihood cross-validation (LCV) scores and are generated adaptively using a heuristic search controlled by LCV scores. Cases covered include linear, Poisson, logistic, exponential, and discrete regression of correlated continuous, count/rate, dichotomous, positive continuous, and discrete numeric outcomes treated as normally, Poisson, Bernoulli, exponentially, and discrete numerically distributed, respectively. Example analyses are also generated for these five cases to compare adaptive random effects/coefficients modeling of correlated outcomes to previously developed adaptive modeling based on directly specified covariance structures. Adaptive random effects/coefficients modeling substantially outperforms direct covariance modeling in the linear, exponential, and discrete regression example analyses. It generates equivalent results in the logistic regression example analyses and it is substantially outperformed in the Poisson regression case. Random effects/coefficients modeling of correlated outcomes can provide substantial improvements in model selection compared to directly specified covariance modeling. however, directly specified covariance modeling can generate competitive or substantially better results in some cases while usually requiring less computation time.
