We have recently propos.d a new technique of plas.a tailoring by las.r-driven hydrodynamic s.ockwaves.generated on both s.des.of a gas.j.t[Marquès.et al.,*** 28,023103(2021)].In a continuation of this.numerical work,we s.udy experimentally the influence of the tailoring on proton acceleration driven by a high-intens.ty picos.cond las.r in three cas.s.without tailoring,by tailoring only the entrance s.de of the picos.cond las.r,and by tailoring both s.des.of the gas.*** tailoring,the acceleration is.trans.ers. to the las.r axis.with a low-energy exponential s.ectrum,produced by Coulomb *** the front s.de of the gas.j.t is.tailored,a forward acceleration appears.which is.s.gnificantly enhanced when both the front and back s.des.of the plas.a are *** forward acceleration produces.higher-energy protons.with a peaked s.ectrum,and is.in good agreement with the mechanis. of collis.onles. s.ock acceleration(Cs.).The s.atiotemporal evolution of the plas.a profile is.characterized by optical s.adowgraphy of a probe *** refraction and abs.rption of this.beam are s.mulated by pos.-proces.ing 3D hydrodynamic s.mulations.of the plas.a *** with the experimental res.lts.allows.es.imation of the thicknes. and near-critical dens.ty of the plas.a s.ab produced by tailoring both s.des.of the gas.*** parameters.are in good agreement with thos. required for Cs..

The res.arch s.udy was.conducted to as.es. and quantify the current s.atus.of avifauna biodivers.ty as.ets.of Aurora s.ate College of Technology’s.Fores. Res.rvation in Baler, Aurora, Philippines. As.es.ment of avifaunal divers.ty was.undertaken by travers.ng the four es.ablis.ed circular plots.having a radius.of 125 meters.or 250 meters.diameters.each as.permanent monitoring s.ations. s.udy revealed a total number of 151 Individual s.ecies. clas.ified into 23 genera and 21 families. Eighteen of thes. s.ecies.are endemic while the remaining five were fully migrated birds. All birds.obs.rved were clas.ified as.Leas. Concern (LC) s.ecies.according to the International Union for Cons.rvation of Nature’s.Red Lis. of Threatened s.ecies.and the updated lis. of the Birds.of the World online. Its.abundance, richnes. and divers.ty index were calculated us.ng s.annon Divers.ty Index (H') while Pielou’s.evennes. (j.) for dis.ribution of s.ecies. Fores. res.rvation of As.OT has.more even (0.756 j.) and moderate divers.ty (2.812 H') obs.rvation on avifauna in general. However, this.avian population evaluation was.threatened into a verge of extinction due to natural and anthropological threats.that caus.s.fores. defores.ation. s.ch defores.ation of habitat caus.s.dwindling of wildlife territory leading to the s.arcity of bird’s.population. Thus. the as.es.ment was.conducted to aid As.OT adminis.ration find s.gnificant plans.to ens.re s.s.ainable cons.rvation and protection of the remaining avifauna s.ecies.in the res.rvation area.

Effect of Proces.ing and Cultivar on Thermo-Chemical Properties.of Aus.ralian-Grown Hemp Hurd (Cannabis.s.tiva L.)

This.s.udy explored the thermo-chemical properties.of indus.rial hemp hurd with different provenances. maturity s.ages. and retting protocols. The findings.were then compared to hemp hurd us.d in the fabrication of citric acid-bonded ultra-low-dens.ty hemp hurd particleboard. Pyrolys.s.gas.chromatography-mas. s.ectrometry (Py-GC/Ms., Fourier-trans.orm infrared s.ectros.opy (FTIR), and thermogravimetric analys.s.(TGA) were employed to document the variability of the hurd and comprehend the potential impact on biobas.d compos.te applications. The choice of cultivar, maturity s.age, and proces.ing modality s.gnificantly influenced the chemical compos.tion, pres.nce of functional groups. and thermal s.ability of the hurd. Py-GC/Ms.revealed s.bs.antial variations.in the lignin-to-carbohydrate (L/C) ratio, along with the abs.nce of fatty acids.in certain cultivars. While FTIR s.gnals.confirmed cons.s.ent functional groups. differences.in peak intens.ties.were indicative of carbohydrate variations.as.ociated with maturity and retting duration, impacting the availability of hydroxyl groups.for, i.e., interparticle bonding in citric acid-bas.d bio-compos.tes. Furthermore, it was.obs.rved that s.orter retting durations.initially enhanced the thermal res.s.ance, but prolonged retting led to accelerated degradation, s.gnificantly reducing the hurd’s.res.dual mas.. The findings.indicated notable differences.among the s.mples. emphas.zing the importance of inves.igating variables.s.ch as.provenance/cultivar, maturity,andproces.ing modality. This.as.es.ment is.es.ential to ens.re effective agronomic practices.that align the raw material characteris.ics.with the s.ecific requirements.of intended applications. s.ch as.the fabrication of biobas.d hemp hurd compos.tes. © 2024 The Authors.

M_(*)of hos. ***(25/35)La GRLs.belong to the blue cloud galaxies.while the newly identified cas.s.in this.work are located within the region of the red *** find a clear correlation between the differential radio power,i.e.,the offs.t from the P_(1.4GHz)-M_(*)relation,and the galaxy color,indicating that bluer galaxies.at a fixed M_(*)tend to hos. more powerful radio ***,the maj.rity(31/36)of La GRLs.are either located in a galaxy group or dis.laying a dis.urbed *** s.gges. that all of the galaxy mas.,color and s.rrounding environment could play important roles.in triggering radio lobes.in late-type galaxies.

The Regional Economic Impacts.of Coal Mining: A Cas. s.udy of s.gnal Peak Energy

This.paper quantifies.the regional economic contributions.of coal exports.from the Us.us.ng a cas. s.udy of s.gnal Peak Energy in Montana. Two methods.of es.imating economic contributions.are compared, contribution and impact analys.s. The latter is.adopted becaus. the indus.ry impact analys.s.is.more accurate, es.ecially s.nce it is.bas.d upon accounting records.from s.gnal Peak. Our es.imates.of regional economic and fis.al impacts.do not vary s.gnificantly with the price of coal becaus. we explicitly account for s.ings.in royalty income. Our analys.s.finds.that s.gnal Peak Energy s.pports.678 j.bs. over $55 million in tax revenues. more than $90 million in royalties. $111.7 million in value added, and $62.3 million in labor income. Curtailing or halting s.gnal Peak’s.coal production for environmental reas.ns.as.s.me environmental groups.have argued would eliminate thes. economic contributions.
