Priapulid worms form a small marine phylum in present-day environments with only 18 described species, but they were the most abundant animals in the endobenthic communities of the Cambrian. They are particularly well represented in the Lower Cambrian Maotianshan Shale of China [1-3] and the Middle Cambrian Burgess Shale of Canada [4]. The priapulid worms from the 530 Ma old Maotianshan Shale 5 be placed within 6 basic groups: selkirkiid, corynetid, anningid, palaeoscolecidan, tylotitid and priapuliid [5]. In addition, another important endobenthic worm phylum, the Sipuncula has been also reported from the Maotianshan Shale [6].

Rechargeable aqueous zinc-metal batteries （AZMBs） are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage systems due to their low cost and high ***,their performance and sustainability are significantly hindered by the sluggish desolvation kinetics at the electrode/electrolyte interface and the corresponding hydrogen evolution reaction where active water molecules tightly participate in the Zn（H2O）62+solvation ***,learnt from self-generated solid electrolyte interphase （SEI） in anodes,the dielectric but ion-conductive zinc niobate nanoparticles artificial layer is constructed on metallic Zn surface （ZNB@Zn）,acting as a rapid desolvation *** zincophilic and dielectric-conductive properties of ZNB layer accelerate interfacial desolvation/diffusion and suppress surface corrosion or dendrite formation,achieving uniform Zn plating/stripping behavior,as confirmed by electronic/optical microscopies and interface spectroscopical measurements together with theoretical ***,the as-prepared ZNB@Zn electrode exhibits excellent cycling stability of over 2000 h and robust reversibility （99.54%） even under high current density and depth of discharge ***,the assembled ZNB@Zn-based full cell displays high capacity-retention rate of 80.21%after 3000 cycles at 5 A g-1and outstanding rate performance up to 10 A *** large-areal pouch cell is stabilized for hundreds of cycles,highlighting the bright prospects of the dielectric but ion-conductive layer in further application of AZMBs.

The growth of dendrites and the side reactions occurring at the Zn anode pose significant challenges to the commercialization of aqueous Zn-ion batteries（AZIBs）. These challenges arise from the inherent conflict between mass transfer and electrochemical kinetics. In this study, we propose the use of a multifunctional electrolyte additive based on the xylose（Xylo） molecule to address these issues by modulating the solvation structure and electrode/electrolyte interface, thereby stabilizing the Zn anode. The introduction of the additive alters the solvation structure, creating steric hindrance that impedes charge transfer and then reduces electrochemical kinetics. Furthermore, in-situ analyses demonstrate that the reconstructed electrode/electrolyte interface facilitates stable and rapid Zn2+ion migration and suppresses corrosion and hydrogen evolution reactions. As a result, symmetric cells incorporating the Xylo additive exhibit significantly enhanced reversibility during the Zn plating/stripping process, with an impressively long lifespan of up to 1986 h, compared to cells using pure ZnSO4electrolyte. When combined with a polyaniline cathode, the full cells demonstrate improved capacity and long-term cyclic stability. This work offers an effective direction for improving the stability of Zn anode via electrolyte design, as well as highperformance AZIBs.

Developing a cost-effective and environmentally friendly process for the production of valuable chemicals from abundant herbal biomass receives great attentions in recent ***,taking advantage of the“lignin first”strategy,corn straw is converted to valuable chemicals including lignin monomers,furfural and 5-methoxymethylfurfural via a two steps *** key of this research lies in the development of a green and low-cost catalytic process utilizing magnetic Raney Ni catalyst and high boiling point ethylene *** utilization of neat ethylene glycol as the sole slovent under atmospheric conditions obviates the need for additional additives,thereby facilitating the entire process to be conducted in glass flasks and rendering it highly convenient for scaling *** the initial step,depolymerization of corn straw lignin resulted in a monomer yield of 18.1 wt%.Subsequently,in a dimethyl carbonate system,the carbohydrate component underwent complete conversion in a one-pot process,yielding furfural and 5-methoxymethylfurfural as the primary products with an impressive yield of 47.7%.

Drought across Northwest China in late spring has exerted a vital effect on the local climate and agricultural production,and has been alleviated during the past *** study explored the influence of the preceding Arctic sea ice on the May drought in Northwest China caused by the precipitation *** analysis indicated that when the Greenland Sea ice concentration is abnormally high during February to April,the dry conditions in Northwest China tend to be *** increase of sea ice in the Greenland Sea can excite a meridional circulation,which causes sea surface temperature(SST)anomalies in the North Atlantic via the sea-air interaction,manifested as significant warm SST anomalies over the south of Greenland and the subtropical North Atlantic,but negative SST anomalies over the west of the *** abnormal SST pattern maintains to May and triggers a zonal wave train from the North Atlantic through Scandinavia and Central Asia to Northwest China,leading to abnormal cyclones in Northwest ***,Northwest China experiences a more humid climate than usual.

Exploiting multi-channels deep convolutional neural networks for multivariate time series classification

Time series classification is related to many dif- ferent domains, such as health informatics, finance, and bioinformatics. Due to its broad applications, researchers have developed many algorithms for this kind of tasks, e.g., multivariate time series classification. Among the classifi- cation algorithms, k-nearest neighbor （k-NN） classification （particularly 1-NN） combined with dynamic time warping （DTW） achieves the state of the art performance. The defi- ciency is that when the data set grows large, the time con- sumption of 1-NN with DTW will be very expensive. In con- trast to 1-NN with DTW, it is more efficient but less ef- fective for feature-based classification methods since their performance usually depends on the quality of hand-crafted features. In this paper, we aim to improve the performance of traditional feature-based approaches through the feature learning techniques. Specifically, we propose a novel deep learning framework, multi-channels deep convolutional neu- ral networks （MC-DCNN）, for multivariate time series classi- fication. This model first learns features from individual uni- variate time series in each channel, and combines information from all channels as feature representation at the final layer. Then, the learnt features are applied into a multilayer percep- tron （MLP） for classification. Finally, the extensive experi- ments on real-world data sets show that our model is not only more efficient than the state of the art but also competitive in accuracy. This study implies that feature learning is worth to be investigated for the problem of time series classification.

Alternative treatment for the highly prevalent Helicobacter pylori infection is imperative due to rising antibiotic resistance. We unexpectedly discovered that the anti-H. pylori component in garlic is hydrogen polysulfide（H2S_n, n≥2）, not organic polysulfides. Studies on the mechanism of action（MoA） show that H2S_nspecifically inactivates H. pylori glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase（G6PDH） by interfering with electron transfer from glucose-6-phosphate（G6P） to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate（NADP+）. However, low H2S_nyield makes garlic derivatives hard to be a reliable donor of H2S_nto treat H. pylori infection. To address this challenge, we established a polysulfide transformation process from garlic organosulfur compounds into Fe3S4that generates H2S_nwith a 25–58 times increase in *** chitosan encapsulation, we designed a gastric-adaptive H2S_nmicroreactor（GAPSR） that eradicates H. pylori with 250 times higher efficiency under gastric conditions. A single GAPSR achieves more rapid H. pylori eradication than combined antibiotics therapy without disturbing the gut microbiota. These findings indicate a distinct MoA transformation mediated by polysulfide as an alternative candidate to treat H. pylori infection.

The critical findings associated with end-face total internal reflection （TIR） phenomemon we proved before are reported. In particular, these findings reveal that the end-face-TIR capable rays experience enormous mode mixing when encountering a roughened end face. As a result, 94% of the overall detectable power is contributed by this effect. With a smooth fiber end face, this figure is mere 52%. We interpret the mechanism behind these unusual phenomena and its significance for the performance enhancement of fiber optic evanescent wave sensor.
