The modified Hummers method was employed to generate graphene oxide,and Ag /reduced graphene oxide (RGO) nanocomposites were synthesized at different temperatures by using sodium citrate as the reductant. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM),transmission electron microscopy (TEM),X-ray diffraction (XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman spectroscopy were employed to characterize the reaction products. The results indicate that RGO has been synthesized successfully,and Ag particles are distributed evenly on the surface of *** RGO prepared at a reaction temperature of 120℃ shows the best surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) *** Ag /RGO nanocomposites modified by 10^- 5 mol /L 4-aminothiophenol (PATP) successfully detect a 10^- 5 mol /L 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) alcohol solution.

Model I quasi-static nonlinear fracture of aluminum foams is analyzed by considering the effect of microscopic heterogeneity. Firstly, a continuum constitutive model is adopted to account for the plastic compressibility of the metallic foams. The yield strain modeled by a two- parameter Weibull-type function is adopted in the constitutive model. Then, a modified cohesive zone model is established to characterize the fracture behavior of aluminum foams with a cohesive zone ahead of the initial crack. The tensile traction versus local crack opening displacement relation is employed to describe the softening characteristics of the material. And a Weibull statistical model for peak bridging stress within the fracture process zone is used for considering microscopic heterogeneity of aluminum foams. Lastly, the influence of stochastic parameters on the curve of stress-strain is given. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the numerical model presented in this paper and the effects of Weibull parameters and material properties on j.integral are discussed.

A normalized full-length cDNA library was constructed from the coralloid roots of Cycas debaoensis by the DSN （duplex-specific nuclease） normalization method combined with the SMART （Switching Mechanism At 5＇ end of the RNA Transcript） technique. The titer of the original cDNA library was about 1.5 × 10^6 cfu·mL^-1 and the average insertion size was about 1 kb with a high recombination rate （97%）. The 5011 high-quality expressed sequence tags （ESTs） were obtained from 5393 randomly picked cDNA clones. Clustering and assembly of ESTs resulted in 2984 unique sequences, consisting of 618 contigs and 2366 singlets. EST sequence annotation revealed that 2333 and 1901 unigenes were functionally anno- tated in the NCBI non-redundant database and Swiss-Prot protein database, respectively. Functional analysis demonstrated that 1495 （50.1%） unigenes were associated with 4082 Gene Ontology （GO） terms. A total of 847 unigenes were grouped into 22 Cluster of Orthologous Groups （COG） functional categories. Based on the EST dataset, 22 ESTs that encoded putative receptor-like protein kinase （RLK） genes were screened. Furthermore, a total of 94 simple sequence repeats （SSRs） were discovered, of which 20 loci were successfully amplified in C debaoensis. This study is the first EST analysis for the coralloid roots of C debaoensis and provides a valuable genomic resource for novel gene discovery, gene expression and comparative genomics, conservation and management studies as well as applications in C debaoensis and related cycad species.

Enriched environment upregulates growth-associated protein 43 expression in the hippocampus and enhances cognitive abilities in prenatally stressed rat offspring

In our previous study, we reported that prenatal restraint stress could induce cognitive deficits, which correlated with a change in expression of growth-associated protein 43 in the hippocampus. In this study, we investigated the effects of enriched environment on cognitive abilities in prenatally stressed rat offspring, as well as the underlying mechanisms. Reverse transcription-PCR and western blot assay results revealed that growth-associated protein 43 mRNA and protein levels were upregulated on postnatal day 15 in the prenatal restraint stress group. Growth-associated protein 43 expression was significantly lower in the prenatal restraint stress group compared with the negative control and prenatal restraint stress plus enriched environment groups on postnatal days 30 and 50. Morris water maze test demonstrated that cognitive abilities were noticeably increased in rats from the prenatal restraint stress plus enriched environment group on postnatal day 50. These results indicate that enriched environment can improve the spatial learning and memory ability of prenatally stressed offspring by upregulating growth-associated protein 43 expression.

Gastrodin, the maj.r component isolated from the rhizome of the Chinese traditional medicinal herb Gastrodia elata（‘‘Tianma＇＇）, has a long history in the treatment of epilepsy and other neurological ***, the molecular mechanisms are not clear. Here,we found that gastrodin ameliorated pentylenetetrazole（PTZ）-induced epileptic seizures with improvement of the electroencephalographic pattern in mice. Further studies demonstrated that gastrodin decreased the levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1b and tumor necrosis factor-a while increasing interleukin-10, an antiinflammatory cytokine in the brain. Furthermore, gastrodin attenuated the PTZ-induced microglial activation along with inhibition of mitogen-activated protein kinases,c AMP response element binding protein, and NF-j.B. Our data suggest that gastrodin attenuates seizures by modulating the mitogen-activated protein kinase-associated inflammatory responses.

A novel third-order optimized symmetric weighted essentially non-oscillatory(WENO-OS3)scheme is used to simulate the hypersonic shock wave/boundary layer ***,the scheme is presented with the achievement of low dissipation in smooth region and robust shock-capturing capabilities in *** Maxwell slip boundary conditions are employed to consider the rarefied effect near the ***,several validating tests are given to show the good resolution of the WENO-OS3 scheme and the feasibility of the Maxwell slip boundary ***,hypersonic flows around the hollow cylinder truncated flare(HCTF)and the25°/55°sharp double cone are *** are made on the characteristics of the hypersonic shock wave/boundary layer interactions with and without the consideration of the slip *** results indicate that the scheme has a good capability in predicting heat transfer with a high resolution for describing fluid *** the slip boundary conditions,the separation region at the corner is smaller and the prediction is more accurate than that with no-slip boundary conditions.

A machine learning approach to tracking crustal thickness variations in the eastern North China Craton

The variation of crustal thickness is a critical index to reveal how the continental crust evolved over its four billion ***,ratios of whole-rock trace elements,such as Sr/Y,(La/Yb)n and Ce/Y,are used to characterize crustal ***,sometimes confusing results are obtained since there is no enough filtered ***,a state-of-the-art approach,based on a machine-learning algorithm,is proposed to predict crustal thickness using global maj.r-and trace-element geochemical data of intermediate arc rocks and intraplate basalts,and their corresponding crustal *** the validation processes,the root-mean-square error(RMSE)and the coefficient of determination(R2)score were used to evaluate the performance of the machine learning algorithm based on the learning dataset which has never been used during the training *** results demonstrate that the machine learning algorithm is more reliable in predicting crustal thickness than the conventional *** trained model predicts that the crustal thickness of the eastern North China Craton(ENCC)was-45 km from the Late Triassic to the Early Cretaceous,but-35 km from the Early Cretaceous,which corresponds to the paleo-elevation of 3.0±1.5 km at Early Mesozoic,and decease to the present-day elevation in the *** estimates are generally consistent with the previous studies on xenoliths from the lower crust and on the paleoenvironment of the coastal mountain of the ENCC,which indicates that the lower crust of the ENCC was delaminated abruptly at the Early Cretaceous.
