A Decreased Expression and Functionality of Muscarinic Cholinergic Receptor in Acute Chagas Myocarditis

Background: Chagas disease is still a public health problem because of the remaining high prevalence, the expansion of the disease into developed countries and the re-emergences by oral transmission outbreaks. Chagas cardiomyopathy evolves as a consequence of an autonomic un-balance where the parasympathetic tone is undermined. Obj.ctive: To determine the functionality and expression of muscarinic cholinergic receptors in acute Chagas disease. Methodology: 62 male, 3-week-old Sprague Dawley rats were assayed;32 were infected with Trypanosoma cruzi trypo-mastigotes and 30 were healthy controls. Electrocardiographic studies were conducted in the absence or presence of direct muscarinic (oxotremorine and McN-A-343) or indirect agonists (phenylephrine) or antagonist (pirenzepine). Muscarinic M1 and M2 receptor expression was determined by radioligand [3H]-QNB binding assay and immunoblot. Results: Chagasic acute myocarditis was sustained by electrocardiographic signs and histopathological findings. Bradycardia induced by oxotremorine was significantly higher in healthy rats (HR) and the differences were enhanced by CsCl. In the absence of the agonist, CsCl induced a greater bradycardia in chagasic rats (ChR). In HR McN-A-343 induced tachycardia, however it induces bradycardia in the presence of a acetylcholinesterase inhibitor (neostigmine);no effects were observed in ChR. Pirenzepine induced a higher tachycardia in HR. Phenylephrine in the presence of pirenzepine induced a similar bradycardia in both groups, but recovery was faster in ChR. Muscarinic M1 and M2 receptor density was higher in HR. Conclusion: Muscarinic receptor expression and functionality are decreased in the acute Chagas disease that could impact the evolution and prognosis of the disease.

The number of alignments between two DNA sequences

We consider two DNA sequences and compare both sequences. One of the crucial issues in bioinformatics is to measure the similarity of two DNA sequences. To this purpose one has to consider different alignments between both sequences. The number of alignments grows very rapidly with the length of the sequences. In this paper we give exact, explicit and computable formulas for the number of different possible alignments and for some classes of reduced alignments. We provide a new insight into the theory of DNA sequence alignment.

Parametric study on smoothed particle hydrodynamics for accurate determination of drag coefficient for a circular cylinder

Simulations of two-dimensional(2D) flow past a circular cylinder with the smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH) method were conducted in order to accurately determine the drag coefficient. The fluid was modeled as a viscous liquid with weak compressibility. Boundary conditions,such as a no-slip solid wall, inflow and outflow, and periodic boundaries, were employed to resemble the physical problem. A sensitivity analysis, which has been rarely addressed in previous studies, was conducted on several SPH parameters. Hence, the effects of distinct parameters, such as the kernel choices and the domain dimensions, were investigated with the goal of obtaining highly accurate results. A range of Reynolds numbers(1-500) was simulated, and the results were compared with existing experimental data. It was observed that the domain dimensions and the resolution of SPH particles, in comparison to the obstacle size, affected the obtained drag coefficient significantly. Other parameters, such as the background pressure, influenced the transient condition, but did not influence the steady state at which the drag coefficient was determined.

We present the entanglement measures of a tetrapartite W-class entangled system in a noninertial frame, where the transformation between Minkowski and Rindler coordinates is *** cases are ***, when one qubit has uniform acceleration whilst the other three remain ***, when two qubits have nonuniform accelerations and the others stay *** 1–1 tangle, 1–3 tangle, and whole entanglement measurements π4 and Π4, are studied and illustrated with graphics through their dependence on the acceleration parameter rd for the first case and rc and rd for the second *** is found that the negativities(1–1 tangle and 1–3 tangle) and π-tangle decrease when the acceleration parameter rd or in the second case rc and rd increase, remaining a nonzero entanglement in the maj.rity of the *** means that the system will be always entangled except for special *** is shown that only the 1–1 tangle for the first case vanishes at infinite accelerations, but for the second case the 1–1 tangle disappears completely when r > *** analytical expression for the von Neumann information entropy of the system is found and we note that it increases with the acceleration parameter.

Entanglement measures of a new type pseudo-pure state in accelerated frames

In this work we analyze the characteristics of quantum entangleinent of the Dirac field in noninertial reference frames in the context of a new type pseudo-pure state, which is composed of the Bell states. This will help us to understand the relationship between the relativity and quantum information theory. Some states will be changed from entangled states into separable ones around the critical value F = 1/4, but there is no such a critical value for the variable y related to acceleration a. We find that the negativity Nas (ρ^TA AB 1) increases with F but decreases with the variable y、while the variation of the negativity Nb1b11(ρ^TB1 B1B11)is opposite to that of the negativity N AB1(ρ^TA AB1). We also study the von Neumann entropies S(ρAB1) and S(ρB1B11)、We find that the S(ρAB1) increases with variable y but S(ρB1B11) is independent of it. However, both S(ρAB1) and S(ρB1B11) first decreases with F and then increases with it. The concurrences C(ρAB1) and C(ρB1B11) are also discussed. We find that the former decreases with y while the latter increases with y but both of them first increase with F and then decrease with it.

Variational Calculus With Conformable Fractional Derivatives

Invariant conditions for conformable fractional problems of the calculus of variations under the presence of external forces in the dynamics are studied. Depending on the type of transformations considered, different necessary conditions of invariance are obtained. As particular cases, we prove fractional versions of Noether's symmetry theorem. Invariant conditions for fractional optimal control problems, using the Hamiltonian formalism, are also investigated. As an example of potential application in Physics, we show that with conformable derivatives it is possible to formulate an Action Principle for particles under frictional forces that is far simpler than the one obtained with classical fractional derivatives.

Frequency Response Optimization of Dual Depletion InGaAs/InP PIN Photodiodes

The frequency response of a dual depletion p-i-n （PIN） photodiode structure is investigated. It is assumed that the light is incident on the N side and the drift region is located between the N contact and the absorption region. The numerical model takes into account the transit time and the capacitive effects and is applied to photodiodes with non-uniform illumination and linear electric field profile. With an adequate choice of the device＇s structural parameters, dual depletion photodiodes can have larger bandwidths than the conventional PIN devices.

We show that the second magnetization peak(SMP),i.e.,an increase in the magnetization hysteresis loop width in type-11 superconductors,vanishes for samples smaller than a critical size,We argue that the SMP is not related to the critical current enhancement but can be well explainde within a frameword of the thermomagenetic flux-j.mp in stability theory,where flux j.mps reduce the absolute irreversible magnetization relative to the isothermal critical state value at low enough magnetic *** recovering of the isothermal critical sate with increasing field leads to the *** low-field SMP takes place in both *** and high**** *** results show that the rsstoration of the isothermal critical state is rsponsible for the SMP occurrence in both cases.

This review provides a recompilation of the most important and recent strategies employed to increase the efficiency of metal-organic framework(MOF)-based systems toward the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution(PHE)reaction through specific strategies:tailoring the photocatalytic activity of bare MOFs and guest@MOF composites,formation of heteroj.nctions based on MOFs and various photocatalysts,and inorganic photocatalysts derived from *** to the data reported in this mini-review,the most effective strategy to improve the PHE of MOFs relies on modifying the linkers with new secondary building units(SBUs).Although several reviews have investigated the photocatalytic activity of MOFs from a general point of view,many of these studies relate this activity to the physicochemical and catalytic properties of ***,they did not consider the interactions between the components of the photocatalytic *** study highlights the effects of strength of the supramolecular interactions on the photocatalytic performance of bare and MOF-based materials during PHE.A thorough review and comparison of the results established that metal-nanoparticle@MOF composites have weak van der Waals forces between components,whereas heterostructures only interact with MOFs at the surface of bare *** material derivatives from MOFs,we found that pyrolysis destroyed some beneficial properties of MOFs for ***,we conclude that adding SBUs to organic linkers is the most efficient strategy to perform the PHE because the SBUs added to the MOFs promote synergy between the two materials through strong coordination bonds.
