A study of Eruca vesicaria, Bromelia hemisphaerica and Erythrina americana as eco-friendly corrosion inhibitors for 1018 carbon steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 has been carried out by using.weig.t loss tests, potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measuremnts. Results have shown that the three extracts performed as g.od corrosion inhibitors, but the Eruca vesicaria exhibited the best performance followed by Erythrina americana. The three inhibitors formed a protective, passive film which protected the steel from corrosion. This was because they contain antioxidants present in their molecular structure with heteroatoms such as N, C and O like phenols, amino acids, etc., which react with metal and environment to form the protective film.

The use of Rosmarinus officinalis as a corrosion inhibitor for 1018 carbon steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 has been evaluated by using.weig.t loss, potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques at 25°. Inhibitor concentrations were included within the rang. between 0 and 1000 ppm C using.three extract solvents, namely acetone, hexane and methanol. Results have shown that Rosmarinus officinalis is a g.od corrosion inhibitor with its efficiency increasing.with the concentration. The best efficiency was obtained with the hexanic extract. The passivating.film properties of the steel were improved by the presence of flavonoids in the extract.

Metamizole(MZ)is a widely used anti-inflammatory *** to its common use,this contaminant is found in sewag. and *** order to reduce the contamination produced by the MZ,we fabricated in this work a photocatalytic composite using.recycled polyethylene(RPE)and the CaLaCoO_(9)(LCCO)*** nanoparticles had a microplate-like morpholog. and sizes of 1.4–5.5μm according.to the analysis of *** photocatalytic properties of the LCCO powders were evaluated under ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)irradiation and found a removal efficiency of 96%.When the RPE+LCCO composite was employed for the photocatalytic deg.adation of MZ,a maximum deg.adation of 92.5%was *** influence of the pH on the photocatalytic activity was also studied and found that an initial pH=3 produced a total deg.adation of MZ after 240 min of UV-Vis ***,three reuse cycles were carried out for the pure LCCO powders and for the RPE+LCCO composites and found that the maximum loss of deg.adation was 5%.Furthermore,scaveng.r experiments demonstrated that the super oxide and hydroxyl radicals are formed during.the photocatalytic reaction and were responsible for the deg.adation of ***,the X-ray photoelectron-spectroscopy and Raman analysis demonstrated the formation of defects(oxyg.n vacancies),those ones delayed the electron-hole recombination,which in turn,enhanced the deg.adation of the ***,the studies performed in this work proved that composites made with recycled plastics and LCCO perovskites are a low-cost and feasible alternative for the cleaning.of water sources polluted with pharmaceutical compounds.

Backg.ound In beef cattle, more than 50% of the energ. input to produce a unit of beef is consumed by the female that produced the calf. Development of g.nomic tools to identify females with hig. g.netic merit for reproductive function could increase the profitability and sustainability of beef *** g.nome-wide association studies(g.AS) were performed using.a sing.e-step g.nomic best linear unbiased prediction approach on preg.ancy outcome traits from a population of Ang.s–Brahman crossbred heifers. Furthermore, a validation g.AS was performed using.data from another farm. Heifers were g.notyped with the Bovine g.P F250 array that contains 221,077 SNPs. In the discovery population, heifers were bred in winter breeding.seasons involving.a sing.e round of timed artificial insemination(AI) followed by natural mating.for 3 months. Two phenotypes were analyzed: preg.ancy outcome to first-service AI(PAI;n = 1,481) and preg.ancy status at the end of the breeding.season(PEBS;n = 1,725). The heritability was estimated as 0.149 and 0.122 for PAI and PEBS, respectively. In the PAI model, one quantitative trait locus(QTL), located between 52.3 and 52.5 Mb on BTA7, explained about 3% of the g.netic variation, in a reg.on containing.a cluster of γ-protocadherin g.nes and SLC25A2. Other QTLs explaining.between 0.5% and 1% of the g.netic variation were found on BTA12 and 25. In the PEBS model, a larg. QTL on BTA7 was synonymous with the QTL for PAI, with minor QTLs located on BTA5, 9, 10, 11, 19, and 20. The validation population for preg.ancy status at the end of the breeding.season were Ang.s–Brahman crossbred heifers bred by natural mating. In concordance with the discovery population, the larg. Backg.ound Treeline ecotones of Mediterranean ecoreg.ons have been affected by the increasing.intensity and severity of droug.ts. Even thoug. the effect of droug.ts on forest dynamics has been widely documented, knowledg. is relatively scarce of how extreme climate episodes affect the hydraulic structure and, therefore, the phys-iolog. of woody plants. The Mediterranean Andes have experienced an uninterrupted period of droug.t since 2010, including.an extremely dry year in 2019 with approximately 80% rainfall deficit. Here, we investig.ted shifts in wood anatomical and physiolog.cal traits of Kag.neckia ang.stifolia, an endemic treeline species, in response to this droug.t *** We evaluated the xylem plasticity of three K. ang.stifolia populations across their natural distribution(31–35° SL) based on anatomical(vessel structure and distribution) and physiolog.cal(intrinsic water-use efficiency) variables in the tree ring.. We focused on the period 2000–2020 that corresponds to before the meg.droug.t(2000–2007),(ii) meg.droug.t(2008–2018) and(iii) hyperdroug.t(2019–2020). The variables were annualized and analyzed by linear mixed-effects *** Our results provide insig.ts to the anatomical and physiolog.cal mechanisms underlying.the resilience of treeline forests to persistent droug.ts in central Chile. We found that the extreme droug.t in 2019–2020 trig.ered shifts in vessel size and frequency that increased hydraulic safety. These sig.ificant shifts in vessel traits occurred in parallel with a decrease in pit aperture area and an increase in water-use efficiency, further increasing.the resilience of K. ang.stifolia to extreme droug.t *** Our results revealed coordinated shifts in vessel size and frequency and water-use efficiency in response to the meg.droug.t, thereby reducing.vulnerability to hydraulic failure. Backg.ound: The prevalence of both atrial fibrillation (FA) and diabetes mellitus (DM) is increasing.and they often occur tog.ther and constitute a hig. risk of thrombosis. Rivaroxaban is a Factor Xa inhibitor with a rapid onset and disappearance of action after oral administration;it acts by inhibiting.the active form of the coag.lation factor. In order to reflect the effect of the action of Rivaroxaban, we used the prothrombin time (PT);however, it′s not the most accurate, but it is the one available in our community. Methods: This was a prospective, randomized, analyst-blinded, parallel g.oup clinical study to verify the efficacy of Rivaroxaban Leti 20 mg.(RL) (12 volunteers vs Rivaroxaban Bayer 20 mg.(RB) (13 volunteers). The variables were determination of PT and Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT) at baseline and at 24, 48 and 72 hours after administering.a daily dose of 20 mg.for three days. The determination was carried out with the IDg.method (Integ.ated Diag.ostics g.oup Sanzay Corporation) with an International Sensitivity Index (ISI) of 1.17 PT and aPTT were taken before the first dose, and then, every day during.the next 3 days, three hours after the ing.stion of their daily dose at 7 am. Results: The 25 healthy volunteers were similar in ag., BMI, and SBP/DBP level with a g.eater number of men in the Bayer g.oup. The efficacy of rivaroxaban was similar in both g.oups with prolong.tion of PTT to the 2nd day of treatment with PT, and percentag. chang.s from baseline (14.46 ± 0.97 for RB vs 14.17 ± 0.94 RL p: 0.45), PTT results and percentag. chang.s from the base (RB: 34 ± 4.53 RL: 33.46 ± 2.82). The safety of rivaroxaban was g.od in both g.oups with no serious adverse events. The equivalence in the log.rithmically transformed PT result (ln) on day two, Mean and CI (90%) 99.2 (94.4-104) and 100 (99.5-100.8);neither the means nor the 90% confidence intervals of the PT variable transformed log.rithmically to ensure its normality, were far from the 80%-125%

In this editorial I comment on the article by Ahmed et al published in a recent issue of the World j.Orthop 2023;14:*** is well known that patients who have underg.ne a liver transplant(LT)may need to have a total hip arthroplasty(THA)or total knee arthroplasty(TKA)*** et al stated that the mortality rate in these patients was similar to the one of the g.neral ***,there are three articles previously published that found hig.er mortality in LT patients who experienced THA/TKA than in the g.neral population(individuals without LT).Therefore,in this Editorial I would like to point out that there is controversy in the literature reg.rding.whether LT patients underg.ing.THA/TKA have hig.er mortality than the g.neral ***,future research should attempt to resolve this controversy.
