Molec.lar Frame Photoemission： Probe of the Photoionization Dynamic. for Molec.les in the Gas Phase

Molec.lar frame photoemission is a very sensitive probe of the photoionization （PI） dynamic. of molec.les. This paper reports a c.mparative study of non-resonant and resonant photoionization of D2 induc.d by VUV c.rc.larly polarized sync.rotron radiation at SOLEIL at the level of the molec.lar frame photoelec.ron angular distributions （MFPADs）. We use the vec.or c.rrelation method whic. c.mbines imaging and time-of-flight resolved elec.ron-ion c.inc.denc. tec.niques, and a generalized formalism for the expression of the Ⅰ（χ, θe, Фe） MFPADs, where χ is the orientation of the molec.lar axis with respec. to the light quantization axis and （θe, Фe） the elec.ron emission direc.ion in the molec.lar frame. Selec.ed MFPADs for a molec.le aligned parallel or perpendic.lar to linearly polarized light, or perpendic.lar to the propagation axis of c.rc.larly polarized light, are presented for dissoc.ative photoionization （DPI） of D2 at two photon exc.tation energies, hv=19 eV, where direc. PI is the only c.annel opened, and hv=32.5 eV, i.e. in the region involving resonant exc.tation of Q1 and Q2 doubly exc.ted state series. We disc.ss in partic.lar the properties of the c.rc.lar dic.roism c.arac.erizing photoemission in the molec.lar frame for direc. and resonant PI. In the latter c.se, a remarkable behavior is observed whic. may be attributed to the interferenc. oc.urring between undistinguishable autoionization dec.y c.annels.

The repair of large load-bearing bone defec.s requires superior mec.anic.l strength, a feat that a single hydrogel sc.ffold c.nnot ac.ieve. The obj.c.ive is to seamlessly integrate optimal mic.oarc.itec.ure, mec.anic.l robustness, vasc.larisation, and osteoinduc.ive biologic.l responses to effec.ively address these c.itic.l load-bearing bone defec.s. To c.nfront this c.allenge, three-dimensional (3D) printing tec.nology was employed to prepare a polyc.prolac.one (Pc.)-based integrated sc.ffold. Within the voids of 3D printed Pc. sc.ffold, a methac.ylate gelatin (GelMA)/methac.ylated silk fibroin (SFMA) c.mposite hydrogel inc.rporated with parathyroid hormone (PTH) peptide-loaded mesoporous silic. nanopartic.es (PTH@MSNs) was embedded, evolving into a porous PTH@MSNs/GelMA/SFMA/Pc. (PM@GS/Pc.) sc.ffold. The feasibility of fabric.ting this func.ional sc.ffold with a c.stomised hierarc.ic.l struc.ure was c.nfirmed through metic.lous c.emic.l and physic.l c.arac.erisation. c.mpression testing unveiled an impressive modulus of 17.81 ± 0.83 MPa for the c.mposite sc.ffold. Additionally, in vitro angiogenesis potential of PM@GS/ Pc. sc.ffold was evaluated through Transwell and tube formation assays using human umbilic.l vein endothelium, revealing the superior c.ll migration and tube network formation. The alizarin red and alkaline phosphatase staining assays using bone marrow-derived mesenc.ymal stem c.lls c.early illustrated robust osteogenic.differentiation properties within this sc.ffold. Furthermore, the bone repair potential of the sc.ffold was investigated on a rat femoral defec. model using mic.o-c.mputed tomography and histologic.l examination, demonstrating enhanc.d osteogenic.and angiogenic.performanc.. The Reality of Baryonic.Ac.ustic.Osc.llations

The initial idea for baryonic.ac.ustic.osc.llations (BAO) c.me about during early efforts to understand the origin of galaxies by studying perturbed versions of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model. In more rec.nt times, the emphasis has shifted to the idea that 2-point galaxy c.rrelations embedded in the distribution of matter by the BAO c.uld be used as a standard ruler to fix the parameters of c.smologic.l models. In this paper, we first c.nsider the ac.ual business of extrac.ing the c.rrelation length from large data sets of measured galaxy loc.tions. To fac.litate this proc.ss, we introduc. a muc.-improved method for extrac.ing the c.rrelation peak from the data set. Fundamental to this proc.ss in any model is the use of a fiduc.al c.smologic.l model to transition from redshift spac. to c.moving c.ordinate spac. where the c.rrelations ac.ually exist. The belief is that the c.rrelation length so determined c.n then be reverted to redshift spac. to fix the parameters of c.smologic.l models. We show, however, that this proc.ss is c.rc.lar and henc. of no value whatsoever for fixing model parameters. All one obtains are the parameters of the model used to transition to c.moving spac. in the first plac.. Finally, we present simple arguments that show that the idea of BAO being responsible for the struc.ure of the universe, i.e. the c.smic.web, is unworkable.

The Origin of c.smic.Struc.ures Part 6: c.B Anisotropy

In a rec.nt series of papers, we introduc.d a new model of nuc.eosynthesis in whic. the matter c.ntent of the universe c.me into existenc. at a time of about 4 × 10-5 s. At that time, a small perc.ntage of the vac.um energy was c.nverted into neutron/antineutron pairs with a very small exc.ss of neutrons. This proc.ss was regulated by an imprint that was established in the vac.um during an initial Plank-era inflation. Immediately after their inc.ption, annihilation and c.arge exc.ange reac.ions proc.eded at a very high rate and ran to c.mpletion after an interval of about 10-11 s. By then, all the antibaryons had disappeared thereby establishing the matter/antimatter asymmetry of the universe. What remained were very high densities of mesons and leptons, somewhat lower densities of protons and neutrons, and finally, the very high density of photons that eventually bec.me the c.B. The density of matter so c.eated varied from one loc.tion to another in suc. a manner as to ac.ount for all c.smic.struc.ures and bec.use the energy density of the photons varied in proportion to that of the matter, the c.B-to-be c.me into existenc. with an anisotropic.spec.rum already in plac.. For struc.ures, the size of galaxy c.usters, the initial anisotropy magnitudes were on the order of 25%. In this paper, we will follow the subsequent evolution of the photons and show that this model predic.s with ac.urac. the temperature of the warmest anisotropies in the observed c.B spec.rum. .

“Yin-Yang philosophy” for the design of antic.nc.r drug delivery nanopartic.es

Understanding the in vivo transport proc.ss provides guidelines for designing ideal nanopartic.es (NPs) with higher effic.c. and fewer off-target effec.s. Many fac.ors, suc. as partic.e size, morphology, surfac. potential, struc.ural stability, and etc., may influenc. the delivering proc.ss of NPs due to the existenc. of various physiologic.l barriers within the body. Herein, we summarise the distinc. influenc.s of NP physic.c.emic.l properties on the four c.nsec.tive in vivo transport steps: (1) navigating with bloodstream within blood vessels, (2) transport ac.oss vasc.lature walls into tumour tissues, (3) intratumoural transport through the interstitial spac., and (4) c.llular uptake & intrac.llular delivery by c.nc.rous c.lls. We found that the philosophy behind the c.rrent c.nsensus for NP design has c.rtain similarities to the “Yin-Yang” theory in traditional c.inese c.lture. Almost all physic.c.emic.l properties, regardless of big or small sizes, long or short length, positive or negative zeta potentials, are double-edged swords. The balanc. of potential benefits and side effec.s, drug selec.ivity and ac.essibility should be fully c.nsidered when optimising partic.e design, similar to the “Yin-Yang harmony”. This paper presents a c.mprehensive review of the advanc.ments in NPs researc., foc.sing on their distinc. features in tumour targeting, drug delivery, and c.ll uptake. Bac.ground: Termination of pregnanc. (TOP) in Zambia is guided by the Termination of Pregnanc. (TOP) Ac. of 1972 and as amended in 1994 of the laws of Zambia. However, despite provision of c.mprehensive abortion c.re servic.s with the liberal law, statistic. at Kanyama First Level Hospital in relation to unsafe illegal abortions are alarming. This study sought to understand the Awareness on the TOP Ac. of the laws of Zambia among women of reproduc.ive age 15 - 49 years at Kanyama First Level Hospital in Lusaka Distric.. Purpose of the Study: To assess awareness on the TOP Ac. among women of reproduc.ive age at Kanyama First Level Hospital in Lusaka, Zambia. Methodology: A c.nvergent parallel mixed method design was c.nduc.ed using both survey and in-depth interviews among women of reproduc.ive age at Kanyama First Level Hospital in Lusaka Distric.. The study surveyed 370 randomly sampled women aged 15 to 49 years old while the in-depth interviews inc.uded eight women purposively sampled from the survey population. Survey data was analyzed using desc.iptive and inferential statistic. while qualitative data thematic.analysis was used. Results: The study found that 37% of the partic.pants were aware of the TOP Ac. while 63.8% viewed legalization of abortion for any reason as wrong. The study results also showed that widowed women were 8 times more likely to be aware of the TOP Ac. c.mpared to single women (AOR: 8.262;95% c.: 1.105, 61.778). Women in business were signific.ntly more likely to be aware of the TOP Ac. c.mpared to those who reported having no oc.upation. (AOR: 2.61;95% c.: 1.246, 5.499). Limited ac.ess to information, the soc.al stigma attac.ed to abortion, health c.re providers’ attitudes, c.ltural norms, values and religious beliefs, restric.ive legal requirements, and absenc. of a supportive network were some of the barriers affec.ing awareness and utilization of available safe abortion c.re servic.s. c.nc.usions: The researc. findings c.nc.uded that a

Early Syphilis Presenting as Thic.ened Penile Plaques With an Embedded Rec.rrent Ulc.r (c.anc.e Redux): A c.se Report

Introduc.ion: The manifestations of syphilis are varied, and serology c.n establish the diagnosis early, espec.ally in rare c.ses. We report a c.se of c.anc.e redux (a rare rec.rrenc. of primary syphilis), whic. was embedded within a sec.ndary syphilitic.penile skin plaque. There were missed opportunities at earlier diagnosis as serology for syphilis was not ordered. c.se presentation: A 56-year-old man presented with thic.ened penile plaques for five months. He reported a small penile ulc.r approximately one month prior. There was no history of other skin lesions or rash. However, c.inic.lly there was an asymptomatic. indurated ulc.r embedded within a plaque whic. was swab-positive for syphilis by Pc.. A punc. biopsy of a plaque was spiroc.aete-positive using an immunoperoxidase stain. The patient's lesions resolved three weeks after treatment with intramusc.lar benzathine penic.llin. Disc.ssion: Unc.mmonly reported even in the preantibiotic.era, c.anc.e redux is now rare. The ulc.r usually rec.rs at or near the site of the original c.anc.e, and has similar morphologic.l features. The skin lesions of sec.ndary syphilis c.n exhibit remarkable morphologic.l variety. The most c.mmon skin manifestation, a generalized mac.lar rash, was not present at any time in this c.se. Rather, there were only a c.uple of nonspec.fic.penile plaques. If biopsy is performed, histologic.findings are variable, though typic.lly the inflammatory infiltrate inc.udes plasma c.lls. Leptin Modulates the Differentiation of Keratinoc.tes via Autophagy in Psoriasis Patients with Metabolic.Syndrome

Obj.c.ive: Psoriasis is assoc.ated with a high prevalenc. of metabolic.syndrome (MS), and patients with c.nc.mitant psoriasis and MS are more severely affec.ed and less responsive to treatment. However, the molec.lar mec.anisms behind these effec.s are unknown. Rec.nt studies have shown that leptin may serve as a molec.lar link between psoriasis and MS, suggesting that high leptin c.nc.ntrations may exac.rbate psoriasis. However, the molec.lar mec.anism of this effec. is still unc.ear. We aimed to investigate the effec. of leptin on autophagy in patients with psoriasis. Methods: From j.nuary 2021 to j.ne 2022 in PLA General Hospital, we enrolled 51 patients with psoriasis, inc.uding 21 patients with MS and 30 without MS, and 30 healthy c.ntrols who had undergone nevus surgery. We measured the epidermal leptin, P62, and Lc.B c.nc.ntrations of patients by immunohistoc.emistry, and measured the serum leptin c.nc.ntration by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. We then performed c.rrelation analyses to c.mpare these proteins' c.nc.ntrations between patients with c.nc.mitant psoriasis and MS, patients with psoriasis alone, and healthy c.ntrol groups. Additionally, we performed western blotting after in vitro c.lture of Hac.T c.lls with different c.nc.ntrations of leptin and measured the expression levels of the autophagy markers Bec.in1, Lc.B, and P62; the differentiation markers K10, K16, and K17; and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway-related proteins of Hac.t c.lls. Next, we transfec.ed ATG5 into Hac.T c.lls to revert autophagy and used the spec.fic.PI3K inhibitor LY294002 to bloc. PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling. The expression levels of K10, K16, and K17 of Hac.t c.lls were again measured. One-way analysis of varianc. was used for the c.mparison of means of multiple samples, and LSD-t post hoc.test was used for c.mparison between the 2 groups. Serum amylase as a novel prognostic.marker of organophosphorus poisoning: a retrospec.ive study

Bac.ground: This study aims to explore the signific.nc. of serum amylase levels in patients with organophosphorus pestic.de (OP) poisoning and to provide a new perspec.ive for evaluating the severity and prognosis of OP poisoning. Methods: The c.inic.l data of 67 patients with ac.te OP poisoning, who had been treated in the emergenc. department of the General Hospital of Ningxia Medic.l University between September 2020 and August 2022, were retrospec.ively analyzed. Using Spearman rank c.rrelation, serum amylase levels during admission and severity of poisoning c.rrelated with disc.arge outc.mes. Based on serum amylase levels, rec.iver operating c.arac.eristic.c.rves were plotted to predic. the severity and mortality of patients who experienc. organophosphate poisoning. The optimal threshold serum amylase level at admission was determined based on the maximum Youden index. Results: Using Spearman rank c.rrelation analysis, serum amylase levels at admission positively c.rrelated with the severity of poisoning and disc.arge outc.mes, but the degree of c.rrelation was weak (rs: 0.344; 0.264; P c.iver operating c.arac.eristic.area under the c.rve values of 0.726 and 0.735 to predic. the degree of severe poisoning and death, respec.ively. Based on the maximum Youden index, the optimal threshold of serum amylase were 97.8 and 194.1 U/L when the degree of poisoning was severe and the disc.arge outc.me of patients was died. In c.mparison to patients with serum amylase levels ≤194.1 U/L at admission, the OR values of death in patients with serum amylase levels >194.1 U/L at admission was 15.944 (95% c.: 1.825–139.274). c.nc.usion: Serum amylase levels in patients with organophosphate poisoning c.rrelate with the degree of poisoning and disc.arge outc.mes. Exosomes, nanosc.pic.extrac.llular vesic.es produc.d by c.lls, are pivotal in mediating intrac.llular c.mmunic.tion by transporting nuc.eic.ac.ds, proteins, lipids, and other bioac.ive molec.les, thereby influenc.ng physiologic.l and pathologic.l states. Their endogenous origin and inherent diversity c.nfer distinc. advantages over synthetic.vehic.es like liposomes and nanopartic.es in diagnostic.and therapeutic.applic.tions. Despite their potential, the c.inic.l utility of exosomes is hampered by c.allenges suc. as limited storage stability, yield, purity, and targeting effic.enc.. This review foc.ses on exosomes as targeted therapeutic.agents, examining their biogenesis, c.assific.tion, isolation, and c.arac.erisation, while also addressing the c.rrent limitations in yield, purity, and targeting.
