Effects of excluded volume of nucleons on nuclea. ma.ter a.e studied, a.d the nuclea. properties tha. follow from different rela.ivistic mea.-field model pa.a.etriza.ions a.e compa.ed. We show tha., for a.l tested pa.a.etriza.ions, the resulting volume energy a. a.d the symmetry energy j.a.e a.ound the a.cepta.le va.ues of 16 MeV a.d 30 MeV, a.d the density symmetry L is a.ound 100 MeV. On the other ha.d, models tha. consider only linea. terms lea. to incompressibility Ko much higher tha. expected. For most pa.a.eter sets there exists a.critica. point （pc, δc）, where the minimum a.d the ma.imum of the equa.ion of sta.e a.e coincident a.d the incompressibility equa.s zero. This critica. point depends on the excluded volume pa.a.eter r. If this pa.a.eter is la.ger tha. 0.5 fm, there is no critica. point a.d the pure neutron ma.ter is predicted to be bound. The ma.imum va.ue for neutron sta. ma.s is 1.85M⊙, which is in a.reement with the ma.s of the hea.iest observed neutron sta. 4U0900-40 a.d corresponds to r = 0.72 fm. We a.so show tha. the light neutron sta. ma.s （1.2M⊙） is obta.ned for r ≌ 0.9 fro.

a.la.tic ra.kers belong to the group of ＂cryptopodzolic ra.kers＂, which a.e ubiquitous in the mounta.nous cool/tempera.e humid regions of Western Europe. The ra.kers of Ga.icia.（nW Spa.n） formed by thousa.ds of yea.s of colluvia.ion. The prepondera.ce of a.-sta.ilised orga.ic ma.ter （OM） ma.ks the horizona.ion a.d polycyclic cha.a.ter （i.e., stra.ifica.ion） of these soils. Cryptopodzolic ra.kers a.e genera.ly thought to be the outcome of podzolisa.ion. This soil type is pa.t of the recent discussion on how to cla.sify soils developed from nonvolca.ic pa.ent ma.eria. ha.ing a.dic properties. To better understa.d the forma.ion processes of these soils, the a. a.d Fe fra.tiona.ion of four typica. a.la.tic ra.kers were studied by selective dissolution in a.id nH4-oxa.a.e, na.pyrophospha.e a.d the chlorides of K, La.a.d Cu. a.high-resolution sa.pling a.proa.h a.lowed us to investiga.e the soils in grea.er deta.l tha. simply sa.pling by horizon. The ra.kers studied displa. a.distribution of Fe- a.d a.-OM complexes tha. is typica. of cryptopodzolic soils. However, these orga.ominera. a.socia.ions were proba.ly immobile due to the high a. sa.ura.ion. We a.gue tha. the soils owe their cha.a.teristic chemica. sta.us to externa. fa.tors ra.her tha. to tra.sloca.ion of orga.ominera. a.socia.ions： va.ia.ions in a.-OM concentra.ions could be linked to cha.ges in wea.hering/lea.hing intensity a.d colluvia.ion ra.es ca.sed by a.thropogenic disturba.ces or cha.ges in regiona. clima.e regime.

Broa.ba.d wa.eguiding through light-emitting strips directly written in a.bla.k lithium fluoride crysta. with a.femtosecond la.er is reported. Light guiding wa. observed a. severa. optica. wa.elengths, from blue, 458 nm, to nea.-infra.ed, a. 155nm. Visible photoluminescence spectra.of the optica.ly a.tive F2 a.d F33 color centers produced by the fs la.er writing process were mea.ured. The wa.elength-dependent refra.tive index increa.e wa. estima.ed to be in the order of 10-3-10-4 in the visible a.d nea.-infra.ed spectra. interva.s, which is consistent with the sta.le forma.ion of point defects in LiF.

Photon counts a.out 15 cm from the left a.d right sides of the hea. while subj.cts sa. quietly during ba.eline conditions within a.hyper-da.k cha.ber were mea.ured by photomultiplier units. La./lea. a.a.yses for photon emissions between the two hemispheres indica.ed a.wea. but sta.istica.ly significa.t correla.ion between the a.plitude fluctua.ions tha. were sepa.a.ed by a.out 800 to 900 ms. a.a.yses of the spectra. power densities of photon a.plitude va.ia.ions from the left a.d right hemispheres revea.ed pea. va.ues between 2 a.d 3 Hz which were equiva.ent to a.difference of a.out 900 ms. The ra.ia.t flux densities were estima.ed to be in the order of 10?12 W?m?2 a.d to include the equiva.ence of a.out 107 neurons. Our ca.cula.ions, which a.counted for the sma.l ma.nitude of the strength of the interhemispheric coefficients, suggest tha. the coherence could be strongly correla.ed with processes a.socia.ed with the unmyelina.ed a.ons with dia.eters between 400 to 800 nm, the visible wa.elengths, within the corpus ca.losum. When the ra.io of the pha.e shift wa. a.plied to the a.a.a.ov-Bohm equa.ion, the time required for a.photon-rela.ed electron to be within a.cerebra. ma.netic field wa. the sa.e dura.ion a. a.single orbit of a. electron a.d a.photon’s tra.ersa. la.ency a.ross a.neurona. pla.ma.membra.e. We suggest tha. the pea. photon decoherence between the two cerebra. hemispheres ma. revea. a.neurona.-qua.ta.substra.e to the conditions a.socia.ed with consciousness.

Gold-iron oxide na.o-heterostructures with a.clea. a.d well-defined morphology were prepa.ed via.a.seed-a.sisted method. The synthesis process a.d the events of heterogeneous nuclea.ion during the decomposition of the iron precursor were ca.efully studied in order to understa.d the mecha.ism of the rea.tion a.d to ta.lor the a.chitecture of the fa.rica.ed heterostructures. When employing a. seeds of 3 a.d 5 nm, na.opa.ticles with a.dimer-like morphology were produced due to the occurrence of a.single iron oxide nuclea.ion event. Otherwise, multi-nuclea.ion events could be fa.ored by two mecha.isms:(i) by the incorpora.ion of a.reducing a.ent a.d the slowing down of the hea.ing protocol, lea.ing to a.core-shell system;(ii) by the increa.e of the a. seed size to 8 nm, lea.ing to a.flower-like system. Further increa.e of the a. seed size to 12 nm using simila. synthesis conditions promotes the homogeneous nuclea.ion a.d growth of the iron oxide pha.e, without forma.ion of heterostructures. a. in-depth study wa. performed on the gold-iron oxide heterostructures to confirm the epita.ia. growth of the oxide doma.n over the a. seed a.d to a.a.yze the elementa. distribution of the components within the heterostructures. Fina.ly, it wa. found tha. the modifica.ion of the pla.monic properties of the a. na.opa.ticles a.e strongly influenced by the a.chitecture of the heterostructure, with a.more pronounced da.ping effect for the systems produced a.ter multi-nuclea.ion events.
