An efficient implicit lower-upper symmetric Gauss-Seidel(LU-SGS)solution approach has been applied to a high order spectral volume(SV)method for unstructured tetrahedral *** LU-SGS solver is preconditioned by the block element matrix,and the system of equations is then solved with a LU *** compact feature of SV reconstruction facilitates the efficient solution algorithm even for high order *** developed implicit solver has shown more than an order of magnitude of speed-up relative to the Runge-Kutta explicit scheme for typical inviscid and viscous problems.A convergence to a high order solution for high Reynolds number transonic flow over a 3D wing with a one equation turbulence model is also indicated.

We examined wave phenomena pertinent to water in a rotating,laterally oscillating cylindrical *** particular,we measured the time-dependent dynamic water pressure and pressure change by fast Fourier transform *** swirling of water in the container had three frequency components;the frequency responses of each frequency component are reported *** swirling occurs in a rotating cylindrical container,it was found that the wave rotating in the same direction as the rotation of the cylindrical container and the wave rotating in the opposite direction to the cylindrical container exist at the same *** swirling direction was determined by the relationship of these magnitude.

Secular change in lifetime of granitic crust and the continental growth: A new view from detrital zircon ages of sandstones

U-Pb ages of detrital zircons were newly dated for 4 Archean sandstones from the Pilbara craton in Australia, Wyoming craton in North America, and Kaapvaal craton in Africa. By using the present results with previously published data, we compiled the age spectra of detrital zircons for 2.9, 2.6, 2.3,1.0, and0.6 Ga sandstones and modern river sands in order to document the secular change in age structure of continental crusts through time. The results demonstrated the following episodes in the history of continental crust：（1） low growth rate of the continents due to the short cycle in production/destruction of granitic crust during the Neoarchean to Paleoproterozoic（2.9-23 Ga）,（2） net increase in volume of the continents during Paleo-to Mesoproterozoic（2.3-1.0 Ga）, and（3） net decrease in volume of the continents during the Neoproterozoic and Phanerozoic（after 1.0 Ga）. In the Archean and Paleoproterozoic, the embryonic continents were smaller than the modern continents, probably owing to the relatively rapid production and destruction of continental crust. This is indeed reflected in the heterogeneous crustal age structure of modern continents that usually have relatively small amount of Archean crusts with respect to the post-Archean ones. During the Mesoproterozoic, plural continents amalgamated into larger ones comparable to modern continental blocks in size. Relatively older crusts were preserved in continental interiors, whereas younger crusts were accreted along continental *** addition to continental arc magmatism, the direct accretion of intra-oceanic island arc around continental peripheries also became important for net continental growth. Since 1.0 Ga, total volume of continents has decreased, and this appears consistent with on-going phenomena along modern active arc-trench system with dominant tectonic erosion and/or arc subduction. japan is a mountainous country comprising several islands,in which mountains occupy 70%of the entire ***,numerous transmission line towers have been constructed in the shallow space of steep mountainous *** such construction,monorails and/or cableways are generally used to transport materials and equipment to the construction site instead of using a construction road,as the former method is more economically ***,with this method,drill rigs or vertical shaft sinking machines cannot be transported to the *** small-diameter vertical shafts of 2.5 or 3.0 m as the foundation for high-voltage transmission line towers in mountainous areas are traditionally constructed manually in *** the past two decades,however,dangerous and poor environmental conditions for workers regarding the manual construction of these small-diameter vertical shafts have become a major ***,owing to the poor environmental conditions of small-diameter vertical shafts to be constructed in the shallow space of steep mountainous areas,a decrease has occurred in the number of young workers entering these ***,the construction of transmission line towers with using the manually traditional small-diameter vertical shafts is becoming difficult in japan from abovementioned *** development of a new technology to solve the problems is necessary for japan’s economic *** this knowledge,the authors have developed a new small-diameter vertical shaft construction system,in which workers do not have to enter the vertical shaft during construction,as machines are used *** applicability of the proposed system was confirmed by means of the construction of three actual vertical shafts at two construction sites,as well as in factory and field *** applicability and details of the final proposed system are summarized in this paper.

The Ujaragssuit Nunat layered(UNL)unit in the Itsaq Gneiss Complex,west Greenland,has been consid-ered to contain one of the oldest chromitites on Earth based on~ca.4.1 Ga Hadean whole rock Pt-Os model ages and ca.3.81 Ga zircon U-Pb age of the surrounding *** study obtained zircon from the chromitite within this unit as well as granitoid sheets that intruded into the UNL ***-situ U-Pb-Hf-O isotope measurements were made on the *** from both the chromitite and the intrusive granitoids show concordant U-Pb ages of ca.2.97-2.95 *** contrast,Hf and 0 isotopic anal-yses indicate that zircons in the chromitites have a different origin from those in the intrusive *** from granitoids yielded Th/U ratios higher than 0.2,initial Hf isotope ratios of 0.2805-0.2807(i.e,initial:Hf value of-11 to-5),andδ^(18)O values of mostly 6.0‰-7.0‰,which are typical for felsic igneous rocks in Archean continental *** least altered zircons from a chromitite exhibited initial Hf isotope ratios of 0.28078-0.28084(i.e.,initial:Hf value of-1.1 to-0.4),close the chondritic value at ca.3.0 Ga and the depleted mantle at ca.3.2 *** zircons also haveδ^(18)O values of 4.2‰6.1‰which correspond to typical mantle *** other chromitite zircons yielded Th/U ratios lower than 0.1,and Hf and 0 isotopic compositions ranging between the least altered zircons and the intrusive granitoid *** results indicate that the zircons in the chromitites crystallized before or during the 2.97-2.95 Ga granitoid intrusion and most of the zircons were altered by subsequent ***,the present results suggest that zircons in the chromitites originally had depleted Hf iso-topic compositions at ca.3.2-3.0 *** can be explained by two different models of the evolution of the UNL *** is that if the UNL unit was formed at>3.81 Ga as previously thought,with the zircons in the chromitites subsequently being precipitated by ca.3.2-2.95 G

Dear editor,Patients frequently visit the emergency room with acute chest *** some potentially life-threatening disorders may cause the pain,in approximately 80%of cases,the chest pain source is benign,and musculoskeletal chest pain accounts for nearly 20%– 50%of those cases.^[1–6]Thus,pain caused by benign and pathological conditions of the chest wall encountered in the emergency department is sometimes incorrectly attributed to angina pectoris or pleuritic and other serious cardiopulmonary diseases.

Schizophrenia is a disease that affects many areas of the brain. The dopamine hypothesis is one of the most widely-accepted ideas in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. Besides alterations in the dopaminergic system in the central nervous system, there have been several reports of changes in dopaminergic systems in the peripheral blood of schizophrenic patients. Several reports have shown that dopamine receptor expression by lymphocytes is altered in patients with schizophrenia, but the results have been conflicting. We therefore re-assessed D3R and D4R mRNA levels in 11 patients with schizophrenia and 12 healthy subjects and correlated levels with severity of symptoms. D3R and D4R expression in lymphocytes and granulocytes was measured by quantitative RT-PCR and the severity of symptoms and cognitive impairment were assessed using the PANSS and BACS-j. There were no significant differences in mean D3R or D4R mRNA levels in lymphocytes from schizophrenic patients and controls and no significant difference in mean D4R mRNA levels in granulocytes (D3R mRNA undetectable). In patients with schizophrenia, D3R expression was inversely correlated with the total PANSS score (r = 0.768, p = 0.009), while D4R expression was positively correlated with working memory scales (r = 0.895, p = 0.001). In conclusion, these results imply that lymphocyte D3R and D4R are involved in the mechanisms of the disorder and could be used as target markers in the treatment of schizophrenia.
