The relation between the water discharge(Q) and suspended sediment concentration(SSC)of the River Ramganga at Bareilly,Uttar Pradesh,in the Himalayas,has been modeled using Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs).The current study validates the practical capability and usefulness of this tool for simulating complex nonlinear,real world,river system processes in the Himalayan *** modeling approach is based on the time series data collected from january to December(2008-2010)for Q and *** ANNs(T1-T3)with different network configurations have been developed and trained using the Levenberg Marquardt Back Propagation Algorithm in the Matlab *** were optimized using the enumeration technique,and,finally,the best network is used to predict the SSC values for the year *** values thus obtained through the ANN model are compared with the observed values of *** coefficient of determination(R2),for the optimal network was found to be *** study not only provides insight into ANN modeling in the Himalayan river scenario,but it also focuses on the importance of understanding a river basin and the factors that affect the SSC,before attempting to model *** the temporal variations in the study area,it is possible to model and successfully predict the SSC values with very simplistic ANN models.

In the central Himalaya,the Greater and Lesser Himalayan tectonostratigraphic zones can be distinguished from each other by combining detrital zircon U-Pb ages and whole-rock Nd isotopic *** the Hazara-Kashmir syntaxis of northern Pakistan,rock units in the Kaghan valley have been variously assigned to the Tethyan,Greater,and Lesser Himalayan *** determine which tectonostratigraphic zones are represented,we sampled across the Batal thrust in the northern Kaghan valley because this structure is identified in some research as the Main Central *** from the footwall yield Paleo-to Mesoproterozoic maximum depositional ages(-1.8-1.1 Ga)and an averageεNd(0)value *** from the hanging wall yield Neoproterozoic maximum depositional ages(~1000-600 Ma)andεNd(0)values *** contrasting detrital zircon ages show that the Batal thrust in the Kaghan valley is a major structural ***,these data lack the characteristic detrital zircon age spectra andεNd(0)values of Greater and Lesser Himalayan rocks north and south of the Main Central thrust in the central Himalaya,***,either the Batal thrust is not the Main Central thrust,or the Main Central thrust in the Kaghan valley cuts a different structural level and carries rock units not seen outside the Hazara-Kashmir syntaxis.

Graphene coatings have been reported to provide impressive corrosion resistance to nickel(Ni)and copper(Cu),because of remarkable characteristics of inertness and impermeablity of ***,as the earlier investigations have generally been carried out in chloride environment,and it is important to understand the performance of graphene coating also in more aggressive environments such as acids and *** study investigated the electrochemical corrosion behaviour of bare and graphene-coated(by chemical vapour deposition(CVD))Ni and Cu in 0.5 M H_(2)SO_(4),0.1 M NaCl and 0.5 M NaOH *** tests and post corrosion characterisation revealed the improvement in the corrosion resistance of Ni due to multilayer graphene coating to be similar in the three solutions,i.e.,the robustness of the barrier property of the multilayer graphene is largely unaffected by the aggressiveness of the corrosive ***,the improvement in corrosion resistance of bare Ni due to multilayer graphene is considerably greater(nearly 3 orders of magnitude)in the most aggressive of the test solutions(0.5 M H_(2)SO_(4)).The improvement is considerably less in 0.5 M NaOH because bare Ni develops a robust passive layer in highly alkaline *** improvement in corrosion resistance of bare Cu is limited(within an order of magnitude)in the three solutions because Cu develops only 1-2 layers of graphene.

Background Clinical outcomes of cardiac resynchronization therapy （CRT） in patients over the age of 80 have not been well *** retrospectively identified 96 consecutive patients≥ 80 years old who underwent an initial implant or an upgrade to CRT, with or without defibrillator （CRT-Dvs. CRT-P）, at our institution between january 2003 and july 2008. The control cohort consisted of 177 randomly selected patients 〈 80 years old undergoing CRT implant during the same time period. The primary efficacy endpoint was all-cause mortality at 36 months, assessed by Kaplan-Meier time to first event *** In the octogenarian cohort, mean age at CRT implant was 83.1 ± 2.9 yearsvs. 60.1 ± 8.8 years among controls （P 〈 0.001）. Across both groups, 70% were male, mean left ventricular ejection fraction （LVEF） was 24.8% ± 14.1% and QRS duration was 154 ± 24.8 ms, without significant differences between groups. Octo-genarians were more likely to have ischemic cardiomyopathy （74%vs. 37%,P 〈 0.001） and more likely to undergo upgrade to CRT instead of an initial implant （42%vs. 19%,P 〈 0.001）. The rate of appropriate defibrillator shocks was lower among octogenarians （14%vs. 27%,P = 0.02） whereas the rate of inappropriate shocks was similar （3%vs. 6%,P = 0.55）. At 36 months, there was no significant difference in the rate of all-cause mortality between octogenarians （11%） and controls （8%,P = 0.381）.ConclusionAppropriately selected octogenarians who are candidates for CRT have similar intermediate-term mortality compared to younger patients receiving CRT.

It is well documented that heat transfer is enhanced with addition of nanosized particles in ***,in a mechanical system there are variety of factors influences the heat *** factors are significant while others are *** this paper,authors will discuss sensitivity of different input parameters such as Le,Nt and Nb on output responses𝑁Nu_(x)and Sh_(x).To achieve this goal,the problem is modeled using basic conservation *** formulated model is a set of PDEs,which are converted to set of non-linear ODEs by using similarity *** these ODEs are solved numerically by using MATLAB built in package bvp4c and compared the numerical results with existing work and found good *** analysis is performed by employing RSM to determine the relationship between the input parameters such that 0.1≤Le≤1,0.1≤Nt≤1 and 0.1≤Nb≤1 and the output responses(Nu_(x)and Sh_(x)).ANOVA tables are generated by using *** using the ANOVA tables the correlations between input parameters and output response are *** check the validity of correlated equations,the residuals are plotted graphically and show best correlations between input parameters and output *** high values of R^(2)=98.65 and AdjR^(2)=97.43 for Nu_(x)and R^(2)=97.83 and AdjR^(2)=95.88 for Sh_(x)demonstrates the high validity of ANOVA results to perform sensitivity ***,we have conducted a sensitivity analysis of the responses and came to the important results that Nt and Nb is most sensitive to Nusselt number and Sherwood number respectively.
