The liver is a key organ involved in a wide range of functions,whose damage can lead to chronic liver disease(CLD).CLD accounts for more than two million deaths worldwide,becoming a social and economic burden for most *** the different factors that can cause CLD,alcohol abuse,viruses,drug treatments,and unhealthy dietary patterns top the *** conditions prompt and perpetuate an inflammatory environment and oxidative stress imbalance that favor the development of hepatic *** stages of fibrosis can eventually lead to cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Despite the advances achieved in this field,new approaches are needed for the prevention,diagnosis,treatment,and prognosis of *** this context,the scientific community is using machine learning(ML)algorithms to integrate and process vast amounts of data with unprecedented *** techniques allow the integration of anthropometric,genetic,clinical,biochemical,dietary,lifestyle and omics data,giving new insights to tackle CLD and bringing personalized medicine a step *** review summarizes the investigations where ML techniques have been applied to study new approaches that could be used in inflammatoryrelated,hepatitis viruses-induced,and coronavirus disease 2019-induced liver damage and enlighten the factors involved in CLD development.

Characterization by EBSD of Antimony-calcium Rich Phases Formed during Purification of Aluminum Scrap

We studied the influence of antimony on the modification rate of the silicon eutectic with sodium and/or strontium for castiig of A1-Si alloys, and introduced controlled Ca and Sb to the system and studied the resulting compounds, which were determined to be CazSb and A1Sb. Scanning electron microscopy together with the complementary technique of electron backscatter diffraction （EBSD） were used to characterize the materials. The experimental results provided the basis for us to establish that antimony removal from AI occurs mainly through the reaction （Sb）A1 ＋ 2Ca = Ca^Sb ＋ A1.

Comparing the biogeochemical functioning of two arid subtropical coastal lagoons:the effect of wastewater discharges

Nutrient flux,net metabolism,and N2 fixation and denitrification processes were estimated and compared in two semi-arid subtropical coastal lagoons in the Gulf of California:El Soldado(ES),where no wastewater is discharged,and El Rancho(ER),where shrimp farm effluents are regularly *** processes were evaluated with the LOICZ *** time was<2 days in both *** fluxes were higher in ER than in ES and both systems acted as nutrient sinks for most of the *** showed a larger nutrient flow rate in the summer and autumn due to the input of shrimp-farm *** fluxes increased in both ER and ES in the winter in response to the increased nutrient supply from coastal *** and ES both showed autotrophic metabolism and N2 fixation in the spring,autumn,and winter,but heterotrophic metabolism and denitrification in the *** dominated in ER(−2.21 mmol m^(2)day^(−1))and values were higher than those estimated in ES(−0.45 mmol m^(2)day^(−1)).The comparative analysis between ES and ER evidenced the significant changes in its biogeochemical performance caused by the input of anthropogenic nutrients,and can orient the environmental management of coastal lagoons.

Microstructural Feature of As-cast A-356 Alloy Modifiers with the Addition of SrO

To explore the effect of strontium on the structure of as-cast A356 alloy, the strontium was incorporated to the alloy by metallothermic reduction of SrO where the mineral was added to the melt through the submerged powders injection technique. The evaluation of the modification of the eutectie silicon and the chemical analysis of samples were done using optical microscopy （OP） and inductively coupled plasma （ICP）, respectively, while microstructural analyses by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and the injection time was variable. Magnesium was added to the melt to increase the reactivity and reduce the surface tension of the molten aluminum. It was possible to increase the strontium content from 0 to 0.027% after 20 minutes treatment. This concentration was sufficient to bring about full modification structure of eutectic silicon of as cast alloy A 356 and the acceptable quality metallurgical of alloy.

Because of the presence of modified warp factors in metric tensors,we use deformed AdS5 spaces to apply the AdS/CFT correspondence to calculate the spectra for even and odd glueballs,scalar and vector mesons,and baryons with different *** the glueball cases,we derive their Regge trajectories and compare them with those related to the pomeron and the *** the scalar and vector mesons,as well as baryons,the determined masses are compatible with the *** particular,for these hadrons we found Regge trajectories compatible with another holographic approach as well as with the hadronic spectroscopy,which present an universal Regge slope of approximately 1.1 GeV^2.

Host-derived biomarkers in gingival crevicular fluid for complementary diagnosis of apical periodontitis

Apical periodontitis(AP) develops as a result of the host's immune inflammatory response to pulpal infection of the dental root canals that leads to the generation of an apical lesion of endodontic origin(ALEO) and potentially to systemic metabolic alterations. Misdiagnosed ALEO is not infrequent due to the lack of diagnostic tools to differentiate apical lesions of different natures. Despite the conservative endodontic treatment shows a high success rate, there are refractory cases that can not be identified early enough during follow up. This evidences the need to develop complementary diagnostic tools, such as oral fluid biomarker analysis. Gingival crevicular fluid(GCF) is a serum transudate that becomes an exudate under inflammatory conditions, carrying molecules from local periodontal tissuesand general circulation than can be harvested noninvasively. We aimed to review the available literature analyzing GCF composition in AP patients to evaluate whether GCF has any potential for complementary diagnosis. To the date, only few studies addressing changes of GCF components in AP are available. Most studies support GCF modifications in specific components in APaffected teeth, suggesting that it might reflect periapical inflammation. GCF has potential for diagnostic tool, treatment follow-up and eventually to assess systemic comprise.

Pigments present in the brown-greenish C morph of an intracellular endosymbiont of Pomacea canaliculata were *** extracts of the endosymbiotic corpuscles showed an absorption spectrum similar to that of *** fractions obtained from silica gel column chromatography of the acetone extracts(CI,CII and CIII),were studied by positive ion fast atom bombardment-mass spectrometry(FAB–MS)and hydrogen-nuclear magnetic resonance(H-NMR).Results indicated the presence of(1)a sterol in the yellow colored CI fraction;(2)a mixture of pheophorbides a and b in the major green fraction,CII;and(3)a modified pheophorbide a in the smaller green fraction,*** extracts of the C endosymbiont did not show evidence of the occurrence of C-phycocyanin,allophycocyanin or phycoerithrin(light absorption,fluorescence emission,and electrophoresis of the protein moieties)while cyanobacterial cells(Nostoc sp.)showed evidence of C-phycocyanin and *** possible phylogenetic and functional significance of the pigments present in the C endosymbiont is discussed.
