This critical review of the literature shows that there is a close link between the microbiome,the gut,and the brain in Parkinson's *** vagus nerve,the main component of the parasympathetic nervous system,is involved in the regulation of immune response,digestion,heart rate,and control of *** can detect microbiota metabolites through its afferents,transferring this gut information to the central nervous *** and clinical studies have shown the important role played by the gut microbiome and gut-related factors in disease development and progression,as well as treatment *** findings suggest that the gut microbiome may be a valuable target for new therapeutic strategies for Parkinson's *** studies are needed to better understand the underlying biology and how this axis can be modulated for the patient's benefit.

This study examines the relationship between geomagnetic indices and mortality rates from specific diseases in the Northeast (NE) and Southern (S) regions of Brazil from 1996 to 2020. Solar activity data, including the Ap and Sudden Ionospheric Disturbance (SID) indices, were sourced from the World Data center, while mortality data were obtained from the Mortality Information System (SIM-DATASUS). Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) emerged as the leading cause of mortality, with average death rates of 60.4, 56.8, and 58.3 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants in Pernambuco (PE), Rio Grande do Sul (RS), and Paraná (PR), respectively. Temporal analysis revealed a consistent upward trend in AMI mortality across most states, except for Santa catarina (Sc). Seasonal patterns identified through Principal component Analysis (PcA) demonstrated that geomagnetic and climatic indices influenced mortality differently across regions and seasons. The Ap geomagnetic index was strongly correlated with higher AMI mortality rates during summer, while the SID index showed greater relevance during winter. A dipole phenomenon was observed, with AMI deaths increasing alongside geomagnetic activity in the S region but showing an inverse relationship in the NE region. These findings highlight the significant influence of geomagnetic variations on public health, particularly cardiovascular mortality. The study underscores the need for further research into the biological mechanisms underlying these associations and recommends the development of early warning systems and targeted preventive measures to mitigate the potential health impacts of geomagnetic disturbances, especially for vulnerable populations.

In this paper, we present an approach that can handle Z-numbers in the context of multi-criteria decision-making problems. The concept of Z-number as an ordered pair Z=(A, B) of fuzzy numbers A and B is used, where A is a linguistic value of a variable of interest and B is a linguistic value of the probability measure of A. As human beings, we communicate with each other by means of natural language using sentences like "the journey from home to university most likely takes about half an hour." The Z-numbers are converted to fuzzy numbers. Then the Z-TODIM and Z-TOPSIS are presented as a direct extension of the fuzzy TODIM and fuzzy TOPSIS, respectively. The proposed methods are applied to two case studies and compared with the standard approach using crisp values. The results obtained show the feasibility of the approach.

Natural frequencies of single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWcNTs)obtained using a model based on Eringen’s nonlocal continuum mechanics and the Timoshenko beam theory are compared with those obtained by molecular dynamics *** goal was to determine the values of the material constant,considered here as a nonlocal property,as a function of the length and the diameter of *** present approach has the advantage of eliminating the SWcNT thickness from the computations.A sensitivity analysis of natural frequencies to changes in the nonlocal material constant is also carried out and it shows that the influence of the nonlocal effects decreases with an increase in the SWcNT *** matching of natural frequencies shows that the nonlocal material constant varies with the natural frequency and the SWcNT length and diameter.

Among the impacts of climate change,there is the intensification of phenomena such as the El Niño South-ern Oscillation(ENSO)responsible for El Niño and La Niñ***,understanding their effects on the functional pro-cesses of forests is ***,this study evaluated the effects of ENSO on litter stock and water holding capac-ity(WHc)in a successional forest in eastern *** occurred in periods with the most rainfall in El Niño(2019)and least in La Niña(2021)*** permanent plots were used to sample *** effects were evident for WHc,higher during El Niñ***,this influence was not clear for litter,as only in the rainy season effects were *** was a positive correlation of WHc with precipitation and humidity,while litter stocks were negatively correlated with temperature and wind *** the subject of this study requires long-term assessments,preliminary results suggests that,depending on the intensity of ENSO,forest functional processes can be strongly impacted and *** conclusion reinforces warnings by the scientific community about the impacts of climate change on the maintenance of litter stocks,decomposition and,consequently,the biogeochemical cycle and essential ecosystem services for the maintenance of Amazonia *** need to develop long-term research to understand the effects of climatic change on litter stocks and water holding capacity is highlighted,especially in Amazonia.

A Review of Greenhouse Gas Emissions by Hydropower Reservoirs

Hydroelectric reservoirs have environmental impacts as many other sources of energy. Regarding hydropower, these effects include flooding cultivated and forest areas, changes in water quality, negative impacts on water biodiversity, conflict with indigenous people and fish migration. In the nineties, researchers put in evidence of another important impact of dam construction: the greenhouse gases generated by flooding organic matter by reservoir flooding. Scientists argue that like natural human water bodies, the hydropower reservoirs emit biogenic gases into the atmosphere. The diffusive gas flux is associated with the difference between gas partial pressure of each chemical substance considering the aquatic system and the atmosphere. Ebullition is a process where some chemical substances are not soluble in water and bubbles are formed in the sediment at the bottom of the reservoir. Ebullition is often the dominant pathway of cH4 that is released from aquatic ecosystems. The phenomenon is episodic and irregular and depends mainly on hydrostatic pressure and other physical influences, such as currents, temperature gradients and the bathymetry of the water body. At hydropower reservoirs, other pathways for gas emanation to the atmosphere are the degassing by water passing through turbines of the powerhouse and the gas diffusion across the river downstream dam. This paper gives a review of the state-of-the-art and advances in the research of greenhouse gas emissions and removals from hydropower reservoirs.
