There are many techniques for hazard identification and are divided into shortcut,standard and advanced *** these,HAZOP and What-If techniques are mostly engaged by practitioners in the chemical process *** of these have certain advantages and limitations,i.e.,HAZOP is structured,and what-if covers broad range of *** is no hazard identification method,which can cover a broad range of scenarios and is structured in *** this purpose,a new technique namely integrated hazard identification(IHI)is proposed in this article that integrates HAZOP and *** methodology is demonstrated via hazard identification study of urea synthesis *** ranking is used to sort out the worst-case *** worst-case scenario is further studied in detail for quantification that is performed using the ALOHA *** quantification has assisted to detect ammonia concentrations in nearby control room and surroundings for worst-case *** is revealed that if ammonia pump is not stopped within 10 minutes,concentration inside and outside the control room may reach to 384 ppm and 2630 ppm,compared to 1100 ppm(AEGL-3).Thus the proposed method would be easy,time saving and covers more details and would be handy for practicing engineers working in different chemical process industries.

Failure pattern in ceramic metallic target under ballistic impact

The ballistic resistance and failure pattern of a bi-layer alumina 99.5%-aluminium alloy 1100-H12 target against steel 4340 ogival nosed projectile has been explored in the present experimental cum numerical *** the experimental investigation,damage induced in the ceramic layer has been quantified in terms of number of cracks developed and failure zone *** resultant damage in the backing layer has been studied with variation in the bulge and perforation hole in the backing layer with the varying incidence *** discussion of the experimental results has been further followed by three dimensional finite element computations using ABAQUS/Explicit finite code to investigate the behaviour of different types of bi-layer targets under multi-hit projectile *** JH-2 constitutive model has been used to reproduce the behaviour of alumina 99.5%and JC constitutive model has been used for steel 4340 and aluminium alloy *** total energy dissipation has been noted to be of lesser magnitude in case of sub-sequential impact in comparison to simultaneous impact of two *** distance between the impact points of two projectiles also effected the ballistic resistance of bi-layer *** ballistic resistance of single tile ceramic front layer and four tile ceramic of equivalent area found to be dependent upon the boundary conditions provided to the target.

The aim of this research is to demonstrate a novel scheme for approximating the Riemann-Liouville fractional integral *** would be achieved by first establishing a fractional-order version of the 2-point Trapezoidal rule and then by proposing another fractional-order version of the(n+1)-composite Trapezoidal *** particular,the so-called divided-difference formula is typically employed to derive the 2-point Trapezoidal rule,which has accordingly been used to derive a more accurate fractional-order formula called the(n+1)-composite Trapezoidal ***,in order to increase the accuracy of the proposed approximations by reducing the true errors,we incorporate the so-called Romberg integration,which is an extrapolation formula of the Trapezoidal rule for integration,into our proposed *** numerical examples are provided and compared with a modern definition of the Riemann-Liouville fractional integral operator to illustrate the efficacy of our scheme.

Effects of grain's shape-and size-polydispersities,orientation,and area fraction on tortuosity and permeability of 2D granular media

The microstructure of granular media, including grain's shape- and size-polydispersities, orientation, and area fraction can potentially affect its permeability. However, few studies consider the coupling effects of these features. This work employs geometrical probability and stereology to establish quantitative relationships between the above microstructural features and the geometric tortuosity of the two-dimensional granular media containing superellipse, superoval, and polygon grains. Then the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) is used to determine the permeabilities of these granular media. By combining the tortuosity model and the LBM-derived permeabilities, modified K–C equations are formulated to predict the permeability and the shape factor, considering the grain's shape- and size-polydispersities, orientation, and area fraction. The reliability of these methods can be verified by comparing them with both our simulations and available experimental, theoretical, and numerical data reported in the literature. The findings implicate that the tortuosity and permeability of the granular media are strongly correlated with the grain's shape, orientation, and area fraction but unaffected by the size polydispersity and spatial arrangement of grains. Only circularity is not enough to derive a unified formula for considering the impact of grain shape on tortuosity and permeability, other shape parameters need to be explored in the future.

Understanding the Impact of H_(2) Diffusion Energy on the Formation Efficiency of H_(2) on the Interstellar Dust Grain Surface

We use microscopic Monte Carlo simulation techniques to investigate the impact of H_(2)diffusion energy on the recombination efficiency of H_(2)on interstellar dust grain surfaces under diffuse and translucent cloud *** constructed five models representing different possible conditions encountered by adsorbed H and H_(2)on interstellar dust *** implemented adsorption sites with multiple binding energies for surface species;the Encounter-Desorption mechanism was also *** study focused on silicate surfaces in diffuse clouds and water ice surfaces in translucent *** results show that the recombination efficiency of H_(2)on dust surfaces decreases as H_(2)diffusion energy *** interesting finding of this work is that considering different binding sites for H and H_(2)gives rise to multiple steady phases,during which the recombination efficiency remains constant with a change in H_(2)diffusion energy.

As the extraction and usage of natural resources continue to be a double-edged sword-supporting economic growth but deteriorating the environment-we study the impact of natural resource mining on sustainable economic development in the largest(PPP)*** use province-level data from 2001 to 2020 and employ econometric panel techniques,such as fixed effects,two-stage least squares,and a battery of robustness *** further explore the potential effects of education and green innovation in mitigating/exacerbating the role of natural resources in the Chinese provincial *** results show that:(1)Natural resource mining hurts sustainable development,verifying the“resource curse”effect.(2)Green innovation and education restrain the negative impact of resource mining on sustainable development,turning the curse into a blessing.(3)A regional heterogeneity is observed in the impact of resource mining on sustainable development,showing more significant effects in the Western and low-urbanized regions.(4)Green innovation and education can assuage the curse effect of natural resources into gospel *** implications and recommendations are proposed in light of the findings to promote sustainable economic development in China.

A Robust Method of Bipolar Mental Illness Detection from Facial Micro Expressions Using Machine Learning Methods

Bipolar disorder is a serious mental condition that may be caused by any kind of stress or emotional upset experienced by the *** affects a large percentage of people globally,who fluctuate between depression and mania,or vice versa.A pleasant or unpleasant mood is more than a reflection of a state of ***,it is a difficult task to analyze through physical examination due to a large patient-psychiatrist ratio,so automated procedures are the best options to diagnose and verify the severity of *** this research work,facial microexpressions have been used for bipolar detection using the proposed Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)-based *** Action Coding System(FACS)is used to extract micro-expressions called Action Units(AUs)connected with sad,happy,and angry *** have been conducted on a dataset collected from Bahawal Victoria Hospital,Bahawalpur,Pakistan,Using the Patient Health Questionnaire-15(PHQ-15)to infer a patient’s mental *** experimental results showed a validation accuracy of 98.99%for the proposed CNN modelwhile classification through extracted featuresUsing SupportVectorMachines(SVM),K-NearestNeighbour(KNN),and Decision Tree(DT)obtained 99.9%,98.7%,and 98.9%accuracy,***,the outcomes demonstrated the stated method’s superiority over the current best practices.
