Weather events put human lives at risk mostly when people might occupy areas susceptible to natural *** Professional Weather Stations(PWS)in vulnerable areas is key for monitoring weather with reliable ***,such professional instrumentation is notably expensive while remote sensing from a number of stations is *** imposes challenges on the large-scale weather station deployment for broad monitoring from large observation networks such as in Cemaden—The Brazilian National Center for Monitoring and Early Warning of Natural *** this context,in this paper,we propose a Low-Cost Automatic Weather Station(LCAWS)system developed from Commercial Off-The-Shelf(COTS)and open-source Internet of Things(IoT)technologies,which provides measurements as reliable as a reference PWS for natural disaster *** being automatic,LCAWS is a stand-alone photovoltaic system connected wirelessly to the Internet in order to provide real-time reliable end-to-end weather *** achieve data reliability,we propose an intelligent sensor calibration method to correct *** a 30-day uninterrupted observation with sampling in minute resolution,we show that the calibrated LCAWS sensors have no statistically significant differences from the PWS *** such,LCAWS has opened opportunities for reducing maintenance costs in Cemaden's observational network.

The Bogomolov multiplier B0 （G） of a finite group G is defined as the subgroup of the Schur multiplier consisting of the cohomology classes vanishing after restriction to all abelian subgroups of G. The triviality of the Bogomolov multiplier is an obstruction to Noether＇s problem. We show that if G is a central product of G1 and G2, regarding Ki ≤ Z（Gi）,i = 1,2, and θ ： G1 →G2 is a group homomorphism such that its restriction θ｜K1 ： K1 → K2 is an isomorphism, then the triviality of Bo（G1/K1）, Bo（G1） and B0（G2） implies the triviality of Bo（G）. We give a positive answer to Noether＇s problem for all 2-generator p-groups of nilpotency class 2, and for one series of 4-generator p-groups of nilpotency class 2 （with the usual requirement for the roots of unity）.

Microbial cells, either in free or immobilized form, can be used for the preconcentration or removal of metal ions, organic and inorganic xenobiotics or biologically active compounds. Magnetic modification of these cells enables to prepare magnetic adsorbents that can be easily manipulated in difficult-to-handle samples, such as suspensions, in the presence of external magnetic field. In this review, typical examples of magnetic modifications of microbial cells are presented, as well as their possible applications for the separation of organic xenobiotics and heavy metal ions.

Rectal neuroendocrine neoplasms(r-NENs)are considered among the most frequent digestive NENs,together with small bowel *** incidence has increased over the past few years,and this is probably due to the widespread use of endoscopic screening for colorectal cancer and the advanced endoscopic procedures available *** to the current European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society(ENETS)guidelines,well-differentiated r-NENs smaller than 10 mm should be endoscopically removed in view of their low risk of local and distant invasion.R-NENs larger than 20 mm are candidates for surgical resection because of their high risk of distant spreading and the involvement of the muscularis *** is an area of uncertainty regarding tumors between 10 and 20 mm,in which the metastatic risk is intermediate and the endoscopic treatment can be *** removed,the indications for surveillance are scarce and poorly codified by international guidelines,therefore in this paper,a possible algorithm is proposed.

Gripping devices help patients carry out everyday tasks and increase their ***,there seems to be a lack of bionic gripping technologies that can fully adapt to any possible shape,as the use of artificial fingers and predetermined grip settings limits the operating *** development of a more agile device,which is operated by a simple control paradigm,could greatly benefit *** electrorheological(ER)fluid system should be able to adapt to the shape of an object and then hold that *** aim of this study was to explore if a conceptual prototype of an ER system could hold a geometric shape when it is activated.A test rig was constructed with a moving part(set in different silicone oils)that could be displaced using a *** particles were dispersed in the silicone oils,and a field with a voltage of 4 kV mm?1 was generated to activate the *** results show that the developed system can support an increased force when activated and hold a simple geometric position without any noticeable *** outcome provides an initial proof of concept for a possible new(gravity-assisted)gripping approach using smart fluids,which could be developed with materials that are biocompatible and widely available.

The assessment of detrital zircon age records is a key method in basin analysis,but it is prone to several biases that may compromise accurate sedimentary provenance *** to ultrahigh temperature(HT-UHT)metamorphism(especially if T>850℃)is herein presented as a natural cause of bias in provenance studies based on U-Pb detrital zircon ages,since zircon from rocks submitted to these extreme and often prolonged conditions frequently yield protracted,apparently concordant,geochronological *** age spreading can result from disturbance of the primary U-Pb zircon system,likewise from(re)crystallization processes during multiple and/or prolonged metamorphic *** this contribution,available geochronological data on Archean,Neoproterozoic and Palaeozoic HT-UHT metamorphic rocks,acquired by different techniques(SIMS and LA-ICP-MS)and showing distinct compositions,are reassessed to demonstrate HT-UHT metamorphism may result in modes and age distributions of unclear geological *** a consequence,it may induce misinterpretations on UPb detrital zircon provenance analyses,particularly in sedimentary rocks metamorphosed under such extreme temperature *** evaluate the presence of HT-UHT metamorphism-related bias in the detrital zircon record,we suggest a workflow for data acquisition and interpretation,combining a multi-proxy approach with:(i)in situ U-Pb dating coupled with Hf analyses to retrieve the isotopic composition of the sources,and(ii)the integration of a petrochronological investigation to typify fingerprints of the HT-UHT metamorphic *** proposed workflow is validated in the investigation of one theoretical and one natural example allowing a better characterization of the sedimentary sources,maximum depositional ages,and the tectonic setting of the *** workflow allows to the appraisal of biases imposed by HT-UHT metamorphism and resulting disturbances in the U-Pb detrital zircon record,particularly for sedimentary

Let N be a compact complex submanifold of a compact complex manifold M. We say that Nsplits in M, if the holomorphic tangent bundle sequence splits holomorphically. By a result of Mok, a splittingsubmanifold of a Khler-Einstein manifold with a projective structure is totally geodesic. The classification ofall splitting submanifolds of families of fake elliptic curves given here completes the case of threefolds M with aprojective structure by a previous result of the authors.
