Thermal power plants are generally constructed near to sea coast to meet their requirement of coolingwater. The warm water discharge from the thermal power plant is one of the major environmentalconcerns in view of the thermal pollution in the sea water. The temperature limit for the warm waterdischarge from the thermal power plant has to be monitored and controlled. Coastal Gujarat PowerLimited (CGPL) operates (24×7) at an “once-through system” based sea water circulation for powergeneration. The used sea water is then discharged into the sea through an outlet channel. As per environmental norms, the discharge water temperature needs to be maintained below the stipulated “delta”rise (+7 ℃) with respect to ambient sea surface temperature at the inlet. We demonstrate the applicability of thermal remote sensing data in understanding the seasonal and temporal variations of thetemperature difference between the discharge water and the ambient sea water. We used thermal banddata from Landsat-8 satellite imagery to map water surface temperature and create temperature profilesalong the intake and outflow channels (till the sea), to understand the variation of temperature andestimate the “DT” between intake point and various observation points along the outflow. This analysiswas carried out for all 11 months (except June) of the year 2018 to correlate temperature variations withseasonal changes. Tidal conditions during the time of data acquisition were also considered to accountfor the effect of tides on DT. The result shows that the average temperature rise between intake andoutflow are maintained at ~3 ℃ across all the months of 2018, with minor variations in the months ofJuly and August. Further, average temperature drop from outflow to cooling channel (before diaphragm)is seen to be ~2 ℃ across all the months with similar seasonal fluctuations.

Enhancing lithium-sulfur battery performance with In_(2)O_(3)-In_(2)S_(3)@nSC heterostructures:Synergistic effects of double barrier and catalytic transformation

The sluggish redox reaction kinetics of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)are considered the main obstacle to the commercial application of lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries.To accelerate the conversion by catalysis and inhibit the shuttling of soluble LiPSs in Li-S batteries,a solution is proposed in this study.The solution involves fabrication of n,S co-doped carbon coated In_(2)O_(3)/In_(2)S_(3)heterostructure(In_(2)O_(3)-In_(2)S_(3)@nSC)as a multifunctional host material for the cathode.The In_(2)O_(3)-In_(2)S_(3)@nSC composite can reduce the Gibbs free energy for the conversion reactions of LiPSs,which results in superior performance.The synergy between different components in In_(2)O_(3)-In_(2)S_(3)@nSC and the unique 3D structure facilitate ion and electron transport in Li-S batteries.The In_(2)O_(3)-In_(2)S_(3)@nSC/Li 2 S 6 cathode exhibits excellent rate capacity,with a capacity of 599 mAh g−1 at 5.5 C,and good cycle stability,with a capacity of 436 mAh g^(−1)after 1000 cycles at 1 C.Overall,this study proposes a promising solution to improve the energy storage properties of Li-S batteries,which could potentially facilitate the commercialization of Li-S batteries.

Cu,n codoped carbon nanosheets encapsulating ultrasmall Cu nanoparticles for enhancing selective 1,2-propanediol oxidation

In the selective oxidation of biomass-based 1,2-propanediol(PDO)with oxygen as the terminal oxidant,it is challenging to improve the lactic acid(LA)selectivity for nonnoble metal nanoparticles(nPs)due to their limited oxygen reduction rate and easy C-C cleavage.Given the high economic feasibility of nonnoble metals,i.e.,Cu,in this work,copper and nitrogen codoped porous carbon nanosheets encapsulating ultrafine Cu nanoparticles(Cu@Cu-n-C)were developed to realize highly selective of PDO oxidation to LA.The carbon-encapsulated ultrasmall Cu^(0)nPs in Cu@Cu-n-C have high PDO dehydrogenation activity while n-coordinated Cu(Cu-n)sites are responsible for the high oxygen reduction efficacy.Therefore,the performance of catalytic PDO conversion to LA is optimized by a proposed pathway of PDO→hydroxylacetone→lactaldehyde→LA.Specifically,the enhanced LA selectivity is 88.5%,and the PDO conversion is up to 75.1%in an O_(2)-pressurized reaction system(1.0 MPa O_(2)),superior to other Cu-based catalysts,while in a milder nonpressurized system(O_(2)flow rate of 100 mL min-1),a remarkable LA selectivity(94.2%)is obtained with 39.8%PDO conversion,2.2 times higher than that of supported Au nanoparticles(1%Au/C).Moreover,carbon encapsulation offers Cu@Cu-n-C with strong leaching resistance for better recycling.

Turpentine is a renewable and resourceful forest product.The deep processing and utilization of turpentine,particularly its primary componentβ-pinene,has garnered widespread attention.This study aimed to synthesize 40 derivatives ofβ-pinene,including nopinone,3-cyanopyridines of nopinone,myrtanyl acid,myrtanyl acylthioureas,and myrtanyl amides.We assessed the antiviral activities of theseβ-pinene derivatives against influenza virus A/Puerto Rico/8/34(H1n1)using the 3-(4,5-dimetylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide method.Theβ-pinene derivatives were used before and after cellular infection with the influenza virus to evaluate their preventive and therapeutic effects against the H1n1 virus.The results showed that only compound 10o exhibited a preventive effect against the H1n1 virus with a half-maximal inhibitory concentration(IC50)value of 47.6μmol/L.Among the compounds,4e,4i,and 4l demonstrated therapeutic effects against cellular infection,with compound 4e displaying the most potent therapeutic effect(IC50=17.5μmol/L),comparable to the positive control ribavirin.These findings indicated that certainβ-pinene derivatives exhibited in vitro antiviral activity against the H1n1 influenza A virus,warranting further investigation as potential anti-influenza agents.

Comparative effectiveness of immunotherapy and chemotherapy in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer stratified by microsatellite instability status

BACKGROUnD Immunotherapy have demonstrated promising outcomes in patients with high microsatellite instability(MSI)(MSI-H)metastatic colorectal cancer.However,the comparative effectiveness of Immunotherapy and chemotherapy for patients with low MSI(MSI-L),and microsatellite stable(MSS)metastatic colorectal cancer remains unclear.AIM To investigate immunotherapy vs chemotherapy for treatment of MSI-L/MSS metastatic colorectal cancer,and to evaluate the success of immunotherapy against chemotherapy in managing MSI-H metastatic colorectal cancer during a follow-up of 50 months.METHODS We conducted a retrospective cohort study using the national Cancer Database(nCDB)to evaluate the overall survival(OS)of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer treated with immunotherapy or chemotherapy.The study population was stratified by MSI status(MSI-H,MSI-L,and MSS).Multivariable Cox proportional hazard models were used to assess the association between treatment modality and OS,adjusting for potential confounders.RESULTS A total of 21951 patients with metastatic colorectal cancer were included in the analysis,of which 2358 were MSI-H,and 19593 were MSI-L/MSS.In the MSI-H cohort,immunotherapy treatment(n=142)was associated with a significantly improved median OS compared to chemotherapy(n=860).After adjusting for potential confounders,immunotherapy treatment remained significantly associated with better OS in the MSI-H cohort[adjusted hazard ratio(aHR):0.57,95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.43-0.77,Pn the MSS cohort,no significant difference in median OS was observed between immunotherapy treatment and chemotherapy(aHR:0.94,95%CI:0.69-1.29,P=0.715).COnCLUSIOn In this population-based study using the nCDB,immunotherapy treatment was associated with significantly improved OS compared to chemotherapy in patients with MSI-H metastatic colorectal cancer,but not in those with MSI-L/MSS metastatic colorectal cancer.Further studies are warranted to determine the optimal therapeutic approach for patients with MSI-L/MSS metasta

Objective: Despite cardiotoxicity overlap, the trastuzumab/pertuzumab and anthracycline combination remains crucial due to significant benefits. Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin(PLD), a less cardiotoxic anthracycline, was evaluated for efficacy and cardiac safety when combined with cyclophosphamide and followed by taxanes with trastuzumab/pertuzumab in human epidermal growth factor receptor-2(HER2)-positive early breast cancer(BC).Methods: In this multicenter, phase II study, patients with confirmed HER2-positive early BC received four cycles of PLD(30-35 mg/m^(2)) and cyclophosphamide(600 mg/m^(2)), followed by four cycles of taxanes(docetaxel,90-100 mg/m^(2) or nab-paclitaxel, 260 mg/m^(2)), concomitant with eight cycles of trastuzumab(8 mg/kg loading dose,then 6 mg/kg) and pertuzumab(840 mg loading dose, then 420 mg) every 3 weeks. The primary endpoint was total pathological complete response(tp CR, yp T0/is yp n0). Secondary endpoints included breast p CR(bp CR),objective response rate(ORR), disease control rate, rate of breast-conserving surgery(BCS), and safety(with a focus on cardiotoxicity).Results: Between May 27, 2020 and May 11, 2022, 78 patients were treated with surgery, 42(53.8%) of whom had BCS. After neoadjuvant therapy, 47 [60.3%, 95% confidence interval(95% CI), 48.5%-71.2%] patients achieved tp CR, and 49(62.8%) achieved bp CR. ORRs were 76.9%(95% CI, 66.0%-85.7%) and 93.6%(95% CI,85.7%-97.9%) after 4-cycle and 8-cycle neoadjuvant therapy, respectively. nine(11.5%) patients experienced asymptomatic left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) reductions of ≥10% from baseline, all with a minimum value of >55%. no treatment-related abnormal cardiac function changes were observed in mean n-terminal pro-BnP(nT-pro BnP), troponin I, or high-sensitivity troponin.Conclusions: This dual HER2-blockade with sequential polychemotherapy showed promising activity with rapid tumor regression in HER2-positive BC. Importantly, this regimen showed an acceptable safety profile,especially a low risk of cardiac events,

目的开发C_(4)烯烃催化裂解制丙烯工艺和催化剂制备工艺技术,完成小试和工业侧线试验。方法采用固定床评价装置考查了催化剂配方、改性及工业条件对催化剂活性、选择性、稳定性能的影响。结果以ZSM-5分子筛为活性组分的催化剂在C_(4)烯烃转化制丙烯反应中具有较好的活性、选择性、稳定性和再生性,磷的引入未改变催化剂的晶型结构,但降低了催化剂酸性位点数量,并调节了催化剂的n(B酸)/n(L酸),随着磷负载量增加到5%(w),分子筛中磷与铝的相互作用逐渐增强,磷可以和骨架铝和非骨架铝相互作用。结论C_(4)烯烃的转化率达到80%以上,丙烯的选择性达到35%~45%,催化剂的单程寿命达到一个月以上,且经再生后,再生恢复率达95%。

目的建立以植醇为原料,低浓度的过氧化氢为氧化剂,甲酸为载氧剂,在无催化剂的条件下,通过环氧化/开环反应合成植烷三醇的方法。方法采用单因素试验,考察甲酸、过氧化氢与植醇的摩尔比、反应温度和时间对植烷三醇收率的影响,并进行3批次重复性验证。用气-质联用仪、红外光谱仪以及核磁共振波谱仪对植烷三醇的色谱纯度和结构进行了分析。结果最佳工艺条件确定为:环氧化反应体系最佳条件为n(HCOOH)-n(H_(2)O_(2))n-n(植醇)=5∶1.3∶1,温度55℃,时间2 h;开环反应体系最佳条件为pH值13,温度105℃,时间0.5 h。经验证实验,该法植烷三醇合成工艺产率可达86.6%,色谱纯度为94.6%。结论所建立的合成方法工艺稳定,质量可控,并且所合成的植烷三醇纯度优于市售产品。

研究目的:为研究大跨度斜拉桥在温度作用下的变形及其引起的长波不平顺对列车运行的影响,以泉州湾跨海钢混结合梁斜拉桥为研究对象,在其主梁截面布置温度传感器以监测主梁温度变化,利用AnSYS软件分析实测温度作用下的斜拉桥主梁竖向变形,将温度变形与轨道不平顺叠加且基于弹性系统动力学总势能不变值原理建立考虑该长波不平顺的车桥耦合模型,以研究长波不平顺对列车动力响应的影响、弦测法对其进行评价的适配性,以及温度变形极限条件下的对应限值。研究结论:(1)温度监测系统共收集了1年的温度数据,将其分解为均匀温度和线性温差后,对应的温度变化范围分别为[5.82°C,37.51°C]和[2.36°C,29.94°C],主梁主跨跨中的最大竖向位移为28.6 mm,最小竖向位移为14.1 mm;(2)相比于未考虑温度作用,考虑了温度作用引起的长波不平顺的车桥耦合振动模型得到的列车轮重减载率、竖向加速度和竖向舒适度指标均有一定增大,竖向加速度增幅最为明显;(3)考虑了因列车运行引起的桥梁动态位移的影响后,60 m弦中点弦测法依然能够很好地体现列车振动响应,与车体竖向加速度响应相关性最好;(4)通过分析60 m弦的不平顺计算结果并进行验证,可知桥塔附近是双线行车时会车的危险位置;(5)在温度变形极限条件下列车的竖向加速度达到规范限值,对应的60 m弦矢度限值为7.22 mm;(6)本研究成果可为大跨度斜拉桥长波不平顺的评测方法选取及限值要求提供参考。

基于RSIV-RF模型的凉山州泥石流易发性评价

针对随机森林(RF)模型进行泥石流易发性评价过程中存在连续型因子依靠主观意识分级、随机选取的非泥石流样本准确度较低等问题,以位于四川西南部的凉山彝族自治州为研究区,提出基于统计学先验模型抽样的随机森林对研究区进行泥石流易发性评价分区。利用累计灾害频率等曲线的相对变化对连续型因子进行分级处理;采用粗糙集理论(RS)和信息量法(IV)计算加权信息量值,划定极低和低易发性区并从中选择负样本数据。通过袋外误差(OOB)变化曲线确定RF模型的最佳树棵数n_estimators和分裂特征数max_features,随后构建加权信息量-随机森林(RSIV-RF)模型预测凉山州泥石流易发性。进一步地,与从全区随机选择非泥石流样本的RF模型开展对比研究。结果表明,训练集和测试集下RSIV-RF模型的准确度分别为0.89,0.83,且对应的ROC曲线的AUC值分别为0.920,0.895,均高于单独的RF模型;RSIV-RF绘制的泥石流易发性评价图与历史灾害分布较为一致,较高和高易发性等级区域占研究区面积比为18.625%,包含了78.57%的泥石流点。性能评估和易发性统计结果均表明基于RSIV-RF能够解决单独模型存在的非泥石样本采样不准确的问题,其泥石流易发性预测精度更高,在凉山州地区泥石流易发性评价研究中具有较好的适应性。
