Semen microbiota and cytokines of healthy and infertile men

In this study,we determined the levels of cytokine secretory inhibitors and the microbiota biofilms of semen from healthy and infertile subjects.A total of 118 clinical bacterial isolates were isolated and tested.Cytokine secretory inhibitors were determined based on the difference in cytokine content between the control and experimental samples of cell-free supernatants of isolated microorganisms.Biofilm formation was studied by determining the adhesion of microorganisms to the surface of a 96-well sterile plate and expressed as the optical density at 630 nm(OD_(630)).Cell-free supernatants of Staphylococcus contained higher levels of secretory inhibitor of cytokines in conditionally healthy than in infertile patients.In contrast,in infertile men,the ability to reduce cytokine levels was more characteristic of Enterococcus and Corynebacterium.Seminal Staphylococcus,Corynebacterium,and Enterococcus isolated from infertile subjects showed a greater ability to form biofilms than the same bacteria isolated from healthy men.Further research is needed on this topic,since it is necessary to determine the relationships between decreased secretory inhibitors of cytokines,production of biofilms by bacteria in semen,and infertility.It is likely that the ability of microorganisms to change the concentration of cytokines and increase the level of biofilm formation in semen may be associated with minimal impairments of fertilizing ability,which are not detected using other methods.

Within the context of the national policy on the elderly,the paper presents trends in demographic ageing,health and life quality of the elderly in Russia.Social and political consequences of the XX century have resulted in significant fluctuations in the number of individual generations,forming a long-term fluctuating trend in demographic ageing in Russia.These historical disproportions have overlapped with regional variations in ageing rates due to significant inter-regional population movements,rural-urban migration,substantial gender differences in trends and scales of mortality and fertility dynamics.As a result,levels of demographic ageing in Russia vary more than three-fold,worsening in females and rural population.Ageingrelated problems are aggravated by unsatisfactory health status of the elderly,manifested in high burden of chronic diseases(especially cardiovascular diseases),leading to life restrictions up to loss of the ability to self-care.High-tech cardiac surgery contributes to life prolongation and improved physical and psychological functioning.However,during rehabilitation,most patients are reluctant to change their unhealthy lifestyle associated with cardio pathology.Polymorbidity and psychoactive substance abuse(in males)are the risk factors of suicidal behaviour,while accessibility of medications,including sleeping pills,firearms,etc.contributes to realization of this risk.Living conditions of the elderly and their access to quality social services are important components of wellbeing in terms of health.Despite satisfactory living conditions,the situation significantly differs by type(urban/rural)and size of the settlement.Maintaining microsocial contacts with children,family and friends is a powerful source of psychological comfort and social wellbeing.

Novel method for the preparation of Cs-containing FAU（Y） catalysts for aniline methylation

Cs-containing FAU（Y）-type zeolite catalysts were prepared by conventional and novel ion exchange procedures followed by incipient wetness impregnation with CsOH. The novel ion exchange procedure involved hydrothermal treatment of NaY zeolite in aqueous solution of CsCl at 140-200 ℃ for 6-24 h. The samples were characterized by low-temperature nitrogen adsorption, X-ray fluorescence analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, 23Na, 27Al and 133Cs magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance, CO2 and NH3-Temperature programmed desorption. The results show that hydrothermal treatment at 200 ℃ allows to obtain higher degrees of ion-exchange （up to 83%） with respect to conventional method giving maximum 66%- 69%. Catalytic properties of Cs-containing FAU（Y） were studied in aniline methylation. The yield of Nomethylani- line is shown to correlate with catalyst＇s basicity. The best catalyst performance was achieved over the catalyst with the highest ion-exchange degree impregnated with CsOH. The selectivity to N-methylaniline over this catalyst reached 96.4%.

Tne copper-nickel factory's emissions in the Murmansk region,Russia,led to the degradanon of plant cover and topsoil with the subsequent formation of industrial barrens.In this study,the industrial barrens were remediated by means of Technosol engineering,when grasses were sown on the two different types of mining wastes (carbonatite and serpentinite-magnesite) covered by hydroponic vermiculite.The serpentinite-magnesite waste was significantly different from the carbonatite waste in the content of silicon (Si) and manganese (Mn),pH,and texture.Both wastes had an alkaline pH level and high content of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg).The vegetation and Technosol properties at the remediated sites were analyzed in 2017 and compared to the initial state (2010 year) to assess the efficiency of the long-term remediation.The quality and sustainability of Technosols based on the serpentinite-magnesite wastes were substantially higher compared to the carbonatite-based Technosol.Biomass and a projective cover of the grass community depended on Si content in the original mining waste and were found to be higher in the serpentinite-magnesite Technosol.The content of organic carbon and its fractions,microbial biomass and basal respiration after seven years of Technosol evolution was comparable to natural values.These parameters were directly related to plant cover state and were inversely proportional to copper (Cu) content in Technosol.The Technosol development led to the reduction of nickel (Ni) and Cu migration in soil-plant ecosystems due to neutralization and adsorption properties of mining wastes and phytostabilization by underground parts of grass communities.The Technosol development in its early stage of pedogenesis indicates the efficiency of applied remediation technology to the degraded acidic soil under the conditions of industrial atmospheric pollution.

Mechanism of chemiluminescence in Fenton reaction

A scheme of the processes in Fenton solution with various substances is offered, and the channels of light formation registered by the luminometer are analyzed. Under the proposed scheme we discuss the possibilities of studying the properties of antioxidants and prooxidants. Oxidation of alanine, albumin and sodium oxalate have been taken as an example. The properties of ascorbic acid and the mechanism of display of its oxidant and prooxidant properties are analyzed herewith. Methodical questions of the chemiluminescence research in Fenton solution such as the selection of reagents concentration, water preparation and the effect of the background radiation have been considered in this study as well.

Analysis of known point mutations and SNPs in genes responsible for monogenic Parkinson’s disease in Russian patients

Background: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is caused by complex interactions between genetic and environmental factors. Mendelian forms of PD rarely occur in practice, but respective genes may play some role in pathogenesis of a common sporadic form of the disease. Methods: We analyzed most frequent known point mutations (PMs) and single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes responsible for monogenic PD in 408 Russian patients, using arrayed primer extension (APEX), real-time PCR, and restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis. Results: We detected only three heterozygous PMs in the PARK2 gene in three non-related patients with early-onset sporadic PD. No association between PD and the studied SNPs was identified. Conclusion: The examined PMs and SNPs in genes responsible for monogenic PD do not contribute significantly to the development of sporadic PD in Russia.
