Intelligent Transportation System （ITS） integrates information and communication technologies with location based technologies into roads, vehicles, traffic and transport management systems. Application of ITS can improve situation in major cities where due to the increasing number of residents and level of motorization traffic congestion represents important issue. Another problem arises from this facts and that is that cities have contradictory needs as grooving need for goods within urban areas as well as need for less vehicles in the same area. The urban logistics activities by private companies within urban areas represent an integral part of city logistics that aims to improve the efficiency of urban freight transportation, reduce traffic congestion, mitigate environmental impacts, reduce costs and fuel consumption. This research presents application of ITS technologies and vehicle routing problem for night delivery scheme planning as one of the core techniques for modelling city logistics.

Antioxidant and Antimicrobial Activities of Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea L.) Extracts Obtained by Classical and Ultrasound Extraction

Antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of Echinacea purpurea L. (Asteraceae) extracts obtained by classical and ultrasound solvent extraction were compared. The dry aerial part of plant was extracted by 70% etha-nol at a solid-to-liquid ratio of 1︰10 (m/v) and 25°C. The extract obtained by classical solvent extraction contained 29% larger amounts of phenolic compounds and 20% higher content of flavonoids. 2,2-diphenyl-1-picril hydrazyl radical (DPPH) scavenging reached 93.6% and the values of EC50 were (34.16±0.65) μg·ml-1 and (65.48±1.12) μg·ml-1 for the extracts obtained by the classical and ultrasound extractions, respectively. The extracts, independent of the extraction technique applied, showed a considerable growth inhibition on Candida albicans and Saccharo-myces cerevisiae, while no growth inhibition zones were observed for Aspergillus niger. The diameters of inhibition zone observed for all the microorganisms were larger for extracts obtained by classical extraction than those by ul-trasound extraction.

The nature of variable and uncertainty from renewable energy sources (RESs) makes them challenging to be integrated into the main grid separately. A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is proposed to aggregate the capacities of RESs and facilitate the integration and management in a decentralized manner. In this paper, a novel framework for optimal energy management of VPP considering key features such as handling uncertainties with RESs, reducing operating costs and regulating system voltage levels is proposed, and a two-stage stochastic simulation is formulated to address the uncertainties of RESs generation and electricity prices. Simulation result show that the framework can benefit from ensuring the energy balance and system security, as well as reducing the operation costs.

This paper summarizes the selected results of an extensive investigation of application of two methods （hydrothermal and mechanochemical） assisted by calcination for synthesizing belite cement from reactive mixtures （CaO/SiO2 molar ratio of 2） consisting of various waste kinds from fluidized brown coal combustion in Slovakian power plant and CaO addition. Based on XRD diffraction patterns and infrared spectra ofpre-treatment products, the formation of the new profiles corresponding to CSH phases with low degree of ordering as belite precursors after hydrothermal treatment as well as metastables calcium silicates and aluminosilicates in mechanosynthesized products was confirmed. Calcination of hydrothermally treated products led to transformation of CSH phases to wollastonite （CS）, belite and gehlenite phase, whereas creation oft^- and I^-C2S or wollastonite in milled reactive mixture took place. Differences in phase composition of products before and after calcination depend upon waste quality and precursor＇s synthesis conditions. Bottom ash isn＇t suitable as raw material for synthesizing belite phase because of high CaO content fixed in anhydrite form （44.1%）. Coal fly ash with low CaO content in anhydrite form （4.2%） and its mechanochemical or hydrothermal treatment in combination with subsequent heating offer opportunities for the utilization of coal fly ash as raw material for belite production.

The traditional methods of storm sewers design must be supplemented by a precise and systematic analysis of the consequences of urbanization. This will ensure the reduction of the negative effects of urbanization in the process of stormwater sewer system normal functioning. As the urbanization of rural areas has been in constant progress, there was a need for the development of infrastructure system of urban planning documents that accompany urbanization. Surface storage appears to be one of the solutions that can have positive effects on the consequences of rapid urbanization in terms of preserving water quality of recipients, as well as opportunities to reduce the diameter of drain pipes downstream of surface storage. The necessary investments do not exceed the values of conventional technologies and procedures that are used for this purpose. The restriction of application of these methods is reflected in the limited space, especially in the smaller urban areas, where urbanization was a sudden and uncontrolled process. Future planning documents must contain alternatives like these, while the reservation of required space must be included in the planning documents in which the treatment of further development of the city will be found.

Two-Phase Fatigue Life Prediction of Small-Scale Welded Specimens Based on the Experimental Results

The study aims to calibrate parameters of two-phase fatigue prediction model based on the results of the small-scale fatiguetest experiments for zero stress ratio and without residual stresses, and then to investigate their applicability for differentstress ratios and in the presence of residual stresses. Total fatigue life using the two-phase model consists of crack initiationphase, calculated by strain-life approach, and crack propagation phase, calculated by fracture mechanic’s approach. Calibrationof the fatigue parameters is performed for each phase by fitting numerical to the experimental results. Comparative analysisof calculated and measured fatigue lives is then conducted for different stress ratios, in both stress-relieved and as-weldedconditions. Given that calculation parameters are calibrated for the basic case, uncertainty of predictions is large, showingthat application of the method for real-life complex marine structures is challenging.

This paper describes procedure for estimation of travel time on signalized arterial roads based on multiple data sources with application of dimensionality reduction. Travel time estimation approach incorporates forecast of transportation nodes impendence and travel time on network links. Forecasting period is two hours and the estimation is based on historical data and real time data on traffic conditions. Travel time estimation combines multivariate regression, principal component analysis, KNN （k-nearest neighbours）, cross validation and EWMA （exponentially weighted moving average） methods. When comparing estimation methodologies, relevantly better results were achieved by KNN method than with EWMA method. This is true for every time interval considered except for evening time interval when signalized arterial roads were uncongested.

Wheat/hemp and wheat/teff model composites were prepared as 90:10 and 80:20 w/w blends, using two different Czech commercial wheat flour samples (standards M, M1) and bright/dark forms of these non-traditional crops flour. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of alternative flour samples on the blend compositional profiles including dietary fibre content, on the technological quality described by modern Solvent Retention Capacity method and on laboratory baking test results. According to seeds composition, nutritional flour enrichment reached higher levels of protein (from approx. 13.0% about 30% vs. 6%) and fibre contents (from approx. 3.3% about 50% vs. 30%) in the case of hemp and teff samples. In terms of the SRC profile, the qualitatively better sample M was weakened by hemp flour additions, while somewhat worse sample M1 was improved by teff flour additions. Results from the baking test showed that the hemp composites were partly dependent on hemp flour form. Volumes of bread with bright hemp were diminished from 257 mL/100g up to 196 mL/100g, the products containing dark hemp increased up to 328 mL/100g. Teff-fortified bun volumes were evaluated in close range of 325 - 369 mL/100g against 381 mL/100g for standard M1. Sensorial score of wheat/hemp breads were worse owing to spicy taste and fatty aftertaste, while hay-like by-taste in wheat/teff bread could be tolerable of 10% in recipe.
