Single-photon avalanche diode(SPAD)arrays are solid-state detectors that offer imaging capabilities at the level of individual photons,with unparalleled photon counting and time-resolved *** fascinating technology has progressed at a very fast pace in the past 15 years,since its inception in standard CMOS technology in 2003.A host of architectures have been investigated,ranging from simpler implementations,based solely on off-chip data processing,to progressively“smarter”sensors including on-chip,or even pixel level,time-stamping and processing *** the technology has matured,a range of biophotonics applications have been explored,including(endoscopic)FLIM,(multibeam multiphoton)FLIM-FRET,SPIM-FCS,super-resolution microscopy,time-resolved Raman spectroscopy,NIROT and *** will review some representative sensors and their corresponding applications,including the most relevant challenges faced by chip designers and ***,we will provide an outlook on the future of this fascinating technology.

Relations between the structure, ionic conductivity and dielectric properties of fluoride systems of different structures containing rare earth elements were presented. Superionic conductivities, by fluoride ions, of fluorite-structured （MF2-REF3, M=Ba, Pb, RE=La-Lu, Sc, Y）, orthorhombic （REF3, RE=Tb-Er, Y）, tysonite-structured （REF3-MF2, RE=La-Nd, M=Sr）, monoclinic （BaRE2Fs, RE=Ho-Yb, Y） fluoride single crystals and eutectic composites （LiF-REF3, RE=La-Gd, Y） were compared. Anisotropy of electrical properties of crystals with a lower symmetry was explained by modeling optimum ionic paths. For explanation of concentration dependences of fast ionic conductivity, models of aggregation of defects into clusters were proposed. In fluorite-structured crystals, the highest ionic conductivity was found for PbF2：7 mol% ScF3 （at 500 K, σ500=0.13 S/cm）. In tysonite-structured crystals, the highest ionic conductivity was found for LaF3：3 mol% SrF2 （σ500=2.4×10^-2 S/cm）. Different types of coordination polyhedrons and their different linking in orthorhombic and tysonite structure explained large differences between conductivities in both structures. Eutectic systems, prepared as directionally solidified composites, enabled to study some orthorhombic fluoride phases （GdF3, SmF3）, which cannot be prepared as single crystals. An influence of the orthorhombic-tysonite phase transition on the ionic conductivity was shown.

An isotropic (+U) and anisotropic [+(U-J)] corrected Density Functional Theory study for bulk hematite (α-Fe2O3) was carried out,and several competing terminations of its (0001) surface modeled via slabs of increasing thickness from twelve to thirty-six *** spite of small quantitative differences,the use of either U or (U-J)corrections showed not to qualitatively affect the results of the simulations both for bulkα-Fe2O3and the lowestenergyα-Fe2O3(0001) surface studied,regardless of the thickness of the slab *** energy favored antiferromagnetic ordering of bulkα-Fe2O3was preserved in the relaxed slabs,with the largest surface-induced effects limited to the outermost three Fe-layers in the *** O-and Fe-terminations were found to be energetically favored and ***,fully O-or Fe-terminated surfaces were calculated to be energetically disfavored and ***,the role of Fe-or O-termination for the semiconducting or metallic nature as well as absolute band alignment ofα-Fe2O3(0001) surfaces was analyzed and discussed with respect to the challenges in enhancing the activity ofα-Fe2O3samples as photo-electrode for water splitting.

In this article,we mainly study the products of commutator ideals of Lie-admissible algebras such as Novikov algebras,bicommutative algebras,and assosymmetric *** precisely,we first study the properties of the lower central chains for Novikov algebras and bicommutative *** we show that for every Lie nilpotent Novikov algebra or Lie nilpotent bicommutative algebra A,the ideal of A generated by the set{ab−ba|a,b∈A}is ***,we study properties of the lower central chains for assosymmetric algebras,study the products of commutator ideals of assosymmetric algebras and show that the products of commutator ideals have a similar property as that for associative algebras.

While the versatile composition of layered double hydroxides(LDHs)allows the introduction of almost any polyvalent cation in their structure,the exchangeable negatively charged ions intercalated between the plates increase their vast range of *** we report on the preparation and optical properties of pillared Eu^(3+)-substituted ZnAl LDHs intercalated by aliphatic dicarboxylates:-OOC-(CH_(2))_(n-2)-COO-.The basal distance in these materials is dependent on the size and packing of the intercalated *** varying the number(n)of carbon atoms in the aliphatic chain from 2 to 12,the interlayer gallery of these ZnAlEu LDHs is considerably expanded from 0.9 to 2.1 *** the interlayer gallery,the aliphatic dicarboxylates form a monolayer,with the aliphatic chain inclined by an angleα≈63°with the hydroxide *** carbon atom in the COO-group is 0.43 nm far from the metal plane,showing that these carboxylates are not grafted in the brucite-like *** LDHs are thermally stable up to around 150℃,after which dehydroxylation of the hydroxide layers is *** Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters were obtained and compared to the Eu^(3+)-containing complexes with the same ligand series indicating a more symmetrical and less polarizable chemical environment around the rare earth ion.

This paper presents the results of geochronological(40Ar-39Ar,U-Pb SHRIMP Ⅱ),petrological and geochemical studies of the Late Paleozoic complexes of alkaline rocks(Zimovechinsky,Tuchinsky and Koma) located within the Vitim Plateau(the western part of the Mongol-Okhotsk Orogenic Belt).The rocks were formed at 310-280 *** is coeval with Late Paleozoic magmatism within the Central Asian Orogenic *** εNd(T) values show large variations from-2.1 to +3.3 as well as the initial Sr(I) isotopic ratios from 0.7042 to 0.7138,that demonstrate strong isotopic heterogeneity of the magmatic *** geochemical characteristics of the rocks show pronounced positive Pb and negative Ti,Zr-Hf anomalies that can be explained by involvement of the subducted component in primary *** rocks intruded in a setting of extension at the active continental margin of the Siberian Craton during subduction of Mongol-Okhotsk oceanic crust under the Siberian Craton.

MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are endogenous small non-coding RNAs(ncRNAs)which play important regulatory roles in physiological processes such as cellular differentiation,proliferation,development,apoptosis and stem cell *** increasing number of papers have clearly claimed their involvement in cancer,providing,in some cases,also the molecular mechanisms *** studies led to the conclusion that miRNAs can be effectively used as anticancer agents alone or in combination with existing anticancer *** particular,miRNAs can be effectively used to overcome drug resistance,one of the main factors responsible for anticancer treatment *** of the main questions remains how to modulate the expression of miRNAs in cancer ***,a few studies have shown that the expression of miRNAs is affected by drugs(including some drugs currently used as anticancer agents),therefore providing the rationale for an intertwined scenario in which miRNAs can be modulated by drugs and,in turn,can affect drug sensitivity of cancer cells.

Inter-sexual multimodal communication during mating in wild geladas:the leading role of females

Female primates can emit vocalizations associated with mating that can function as honest signals of ***,we investigated the role of mating calls and visual signals in female geladas(Theropithecus gelada).Because females have a central role in the gelada society and seem to solicit sexual interactions,we answered whether they emit vocalizations in conjunction with gazing to increase mating success *** and during copulations,females can emit pre-copulation calls and copulation *** the first time,we identified a new female vocalization emitted at the final stage of copulations(end-copulation call),possibly marking the occurrence of *** found that longer pre-copulation call sequences were followed by both prolonged copulations and the presence of end-copulation calls,thus suggesting that females use pre-copulation calls to ensure successful copula ***,we found that different combinations of female vocal types and gazing had different effects on male vocal behavior and motivation to complete the *** analysis of the vocal and visual signals revealed a complex inter-sexual multimodal chattering with the leading role of females in the signal *** chattering,led by females,modulates male sexual arousal,thus increasing the probability of the copula success.
