A GaAs MESFET three-terminal varactor diode fabricated on a semi-insulating substrate can be used for the MMIC active voltage-controlled filter because it is compatible with the standard GaAs MMIC process. The high capacitance ratio needed for wideband tuning filter requires the three-terminal varactor diode (TTvD) to be biased up pinch-off voltage or positive bias. Therefore a variable-capacitance model is applied to analyzing C-v characteristics of this TTvD. The earlier capacitance model for GaAs MESFET did not consider the free carrier move in active region which can cause varying the C-v characteristic, but only depletion layer model approximation. The new model described here takes into account the free carrier move for contributing to gate capacitance. The model analytical results agree well with experiment.

THE oxidative dehydrogenation of propane （ODP） to propene is one of the potentially important catalytic processes for the effective utilization of light alkanes. The vMgO catalysts which have better catalytic performances for the reaction have aroused much interest and *** et al. proposed that the active phase was magnesium orthovanadate （Mg3v2O8）, but volta et al. suggested that magnesium pyrovanadate （α-Mg2v2O7） was the active phase; in this phase, v4+ ions which are associated to the formation of oxygen vacancies could stably exist, and Mg3v2O8 is responsible for the total oxidation due to nonexistence of v4+ ions.

Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is the most common type of dementia,but it is very difficult to diagnose with certainty,so many AD studies have attempted to find early and relevant diagnostic *** upon activa.ion,normal T cell expressed and secreted(RANTES,also known as C-C chemokine ligand)is a chemokine involved in the migration of T cells and other lymphoid *** in RANTES levels and its expression in blood or in cerebrospinal fluid have been reported in some neurodegenerative diseases,such as Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis,but also in metabolic diseases in which inflammation plays a *** aim of this observational study was to assess RANTES levels in peripheral blood as clinical indicators of *** levels of RANTES were investigated in 85 AD patients in a relatively early phase of AD(median 8.5 months after diagnosis;39 men and 46 women;average age 75.7 years),and in 78 control subjects(24 men and 54 women;average age 66 years).We found much higher plasma levels of RANTES in AD patients compared to controls.A negative correlation of RANTES levels with age,disease duration,Fazekas scale score,and the medial temporal lobe atrophy(MTA)score(Scheltens’s scale)was found in AD patients,i.e.,the higher levels corresponded to earlier stages of the *** RANTES levels were not correlated with cognitive *** AD patients,RANTES levels were positively correlated with the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α,which is consistent with the wellknown fact that AD is associated with inflammatory *** levels were also positively correlated with insulin levels in AD patients,with insulin resistance(HOMA-R)and pancreatic beta cell function(HOMA-F).This study evaluated several clinical and metabolic factors that may affect plasma levels of RANTES,but these factors could not explain the increases in RANTES levels observed in AD *** levels of RANTES appear to be an interesting

Development of Non-Labeled QCM Biosensor for the Detection of <i>β</i>-Galactosidase: A Comparative Study of Gold and Polystyrene Nanoparticles

The performance of gold and polystyrene nanoparticles was investigated using quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) as sensor platform;β-Galactosidase antibody with corresponding antigen was utilized for the immunoreaction. The development of the immunosensor included: 1) formation of self assembled monolayers on quartz crystals;2a) immobilization of p-aminothiophenol functionalized gold nanoparticles on carboxyl-terminated self assembled monolayer, or 2b) immobilization of polystyrene nanoparticles on crystals modified with p-aminothiophenol self assembled monolayer;3) attachment of monoclonal anti β-Gal on nanoparticles;and 4) detection of target analyte. The nanoparticles used were synthesized in house and characterized by transmission electron microscopy and infrared spectroscopy. The results revealed that antibodies were strongly attached to functionalized gold nanoparticles;the weaker immobilization of antibodies to polystyrene nanoparticles provoked their detachment during antigen detection. When cross reactivity of polystyrene nanoparticles was checked using a different antigen (Brucella), displacement of antibody was not recorded, demonstrating specificity of the reaction. To the best of our knowledge this is the first direct comparison between behaviors of biosensors developed with two commonly used nanoparticles. The results showed that both nanoparticles produced biosensors capable to detect β-Gal. Nevertheless biosensors developed using polystyrene nanoparticles are simpler, cheaper and more eco-friendly than those developed using gold nanoparticles.

目的:观察干扰电治疗仪治疗糖尿病神经原性膀胱逼尿肌无力的疗效,并与电针治疗比较。方法:选择2006-01/10佛山市第一人民医院康复科、内分泌科住院的糖尿病神经原性膀胱患者60例。随机分成对照组30例和治疗组30例,所有患者对实验和治疗知情同意。治疗组用日本米拉多公司生产的SD-21v干扰电治疗仪进行治疗,每次治疗25min,1次/d,每周6次,共治疗20次。对照组采用汕头市医用设备厂公司生产的805-AⅡ型电针仪治疗。穴位取双侧三阴交、膀胱俞、次髎,使用疏密波,15Hz,电流强度为耐受量,留针30min,1次/d,每周6次,共治疗20次。治疗前后测定尿流动力学指标、日平均排尿次数及尿量情况。结果:60例患者均进入结果分析。①尿流动力学的变化:治疗组最大膀胱容量、最大尿道闭合压、最大尿流率均大于对照组(P<0.01￣0.001),残余尿少于对照组(P<0.001)。②日平均排尿次数及尿量情况:治疗组日平均排尿次数、日平均单次尿量、日单次最大排尿量均大于对照组(P<0.05￣0.001)。结论:两种方法治疗糖尿病神经原性膀胱逼尿肌无力均有显著作用,干扰电疗法效果更好。

Ceruloplasmin (CP) is an abundant serum alpha-2 glycoprotein. In the brain, the greatest expression of CP is found in astrocytes surrounding the brain microvasculature. The glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored CP (GPI-CP) is the predominant form of this protein in the brain. Humans with mutations of the CP gene (aceruloplasminemia) can lead to brain iron accumulation and neurodegeneration. It implies that CP is essential for brain iron homeostasis.
