The leaching kinetics in cyanide media of the silver contained in the Dos Carlos waste tailings at the City of Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo State, Mexico were carried out. The used material contained the following chemical composition: 56 10-6of Ag, 0.6 10 6of Au and 70.43%(by weight) of SiO2; 7.032%(by weight) of Al2O3; 2.69%(by weight) of Fe; 0.46%(by weight) of Mn; 3.98%(by weight) of K2O; 3.34%(by weight) of CaO; 2.50%(by weight) of na2O; 0.04%(by weight) of Zn; 0.026%(by weight) of Pb. The mineralogical phases present were the following: Silica, albite, argentite, berlinite, orthoclase, potassium jarosite, and natrojarosite. In the leaching kinetics in cyanide media, and under the studied conditions,the effect of the Cn concentration on the reaction rate has no effect on the whole process of alkaline cyanidation, of which the reaction order is n 0. Temperature has an effect on the cyanidation rate of the reaction, with an activation energy of 47.9 KJ/mol. At the same time, when the particle size decreases there is an increase in the reaction rate, which is inversely proportional to the particle diameter; when increasing the naOH concentration there is an increase in the reaction rate Kexp, with a reaction order(n) of 0.215 under the studied ranges.

The version 2.1 of PETROMAR-3D model, created in the Center for Marine Meteorology of the Meteorology Institute of Cuba, is presented. This Lagrangian model has been designed to describe the physical processes of marine oil spills in the face of multiple scenarios of the marine environment. Although it is applicable to any part of the world, it is mainly designed for inter-American seas. The novelty has been to integrate the processes of drift and weathering into a model, with updated methods that incorporate 3D phenomena, a very favorable situation to achieve an operating system in Cuba and the region for the immediate and medium term. Python was chosen as the programming language because it has advanced libraries for numerical modeling, automation work and other useful tools for pre-and post-processing. By means of adapters, an important number of atmospheric, hydrodynamic and wave models have been considered to create the scenarios efficiently. The modular distribution in which the code has been created facilitates its use for other dispersion analysis and biophysical applications. Finally, a set of simple images are presented, aimed at informing decision-makers in order to mitigate the effects of the spill on the environment.

An equation model for calculating the adiabatic temperature of the wet-bulb thermometer has been obtained empirical fit through a meteorological database, specificly a trough relative humidity and air temperature. A comparison of the results of calculations with the use of this equation and from meteorological database was made. The model deducted of the comparison is valid for a dry bulb temperature range of 3°C to 35°C and for relative humidity percentage in a range of 7% to 97%. normalized errors are less than 5.5%. It means a maximum variation of 0.55°C from data. However, this variation from error represents only 3.6% of the data sample. The equation model was satisfactory.

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DnA) or oligonucleotides, can be modified in several ways as chemical degradation by electrophilic reaction, attack of radicals, hydrolytic deamination or oxidative damage caused by ionizing radiation. This work discussed these degradation mechanisms, determining the effects on these biomolecules. The actual knowledge about DnA damages only permits partial enzymatic repair treatments.

The periaqueductal gray(PAG)is a complex mesencephalic structure involved in the integration and execution of active and passive self-protective behaviors against imminent threats,such as immobility or flight from a *** activity is also associated with the integration of responses against physical discomfort(e.g.,anxiety,fear,pain,and disgust)which occurs prior an imminent attack,but also during withdrawal from drugs such as morphine and *** PAG sends and receives projections to and from other well-documented nuclei linked to the phenomenon of drug addiction including:(i)the ventral tegmental area;(ii)extended amygdala;(iii)medial prefrontal cortex;(iv)pontine nucleus;(v)bed nucleus of the stria terminalis;and(vi)*** models have suggested that the PAG contributes to the modulation of anxiety,fear,and nociception(all of which may produce physical discomfort)linked with chronic exposure to drugs of *** produced by the major pharmacological classes of drugs of abuse is mediated through actions that include participation of the *** support of this,there is evidence of functional,pharmacological,***/or genetic alterations in the PAG during the impulsive/compulsive intake or withdrawal from a *** to its small size,it is difficult to assess the anatomical participation of the PAG when using classical neuroimaging techniques,so its phys-iopathology in drug addiction has been underestimated and poorly *** this theoretical review,we discuss the involvement of the PAG in drug addiction mainly via its role as an integrator of responses to the physical discomfort associated with drug withdrawal.

Biogas Estimation as a Basis for the Implementation of an Intermunicipal Landfill: Michoacan, Mexico

Municipal solid waste (MSW) generated in the municipalities of Sahuayo, Jiquilpan and Venustiano Carranza in Michoacan, is deposited in open dumps becoming hot spots for health and the environment. The total population in the three municipalities is 130,497 habitants, with a per capita waste production estimated in 0.718 kg·hab-1·day-1 (34,203 t·yr-1). The aim of this study was to estimate the formation of biogas for power generation from the decomposition of waste. The model used was the mexican model of biogas (version 2.0), assuming a useful life of 21 years of the landfill at a cost of 0.19 USD per kWh, the average CFE rate for municipal public lighting. Four possible scenarios were evaluated: one optimal recovering 68% of the biogas (10,095 tonnes of methane in 20 years), having a savings concept in electricity of 8,015,252 USD;in the second case (optimistic intermediate), it is assumed that it obtains 61% of biogas (9046 tonnes of methane) with benefits in power generation for 7,159,679 USD;the third case (pessimistic intermediate) estimating 48% of biogas recovered, being captured 7118 tonnes of methane with profits of 5,633,846 USD into electrical energy, the latter case (pessimistic), assuming 40% of biogas recovered, transforming 4672 tonnes of methane resultant in an economic benefit of 3,697,324 USD for electricity generation. The results justify the investment of the landfill and it is a measure to mitigate climate change and disease prevention.

The results obtained from the characterization of a copper deposit on indium doped tin oxide (ITO), inked with natural dye extracted from the Lactarius indigo fungus, for use in Gratzel type solar cells are reported. An electrolyte composed of 0.1 M HnO3 and 0.5 M CuSO4 was used, this solution was prepared for copper deposits on the ITO. Cyclic voltammetry was performed at different scan rates to obtain the reduction zone for deposition between potentials of ?100 to ?500 mV. The dye was obtained from the indigo Lactarius fungus from maceration, once the inked deposits were obtained, characterizations were performed, the initial test was to obtain the Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-visible) of the pure dye, and later the same test was performed on the inked oxide. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) was performed on the samples, as well as Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), to characterize the material properties for its application.

Were assessed the effect of five traditional diets backyard turkeys in confinement. The experiment lasted 36 weeks, the turkeys were randomized to one of five diets: kitchen waste + fresh forage (T1), kitchen waste (T2), commercial feed + fresh forage (T3), cracked corn + fresh forage (T4) and commercial feed (T5). Food and water were provided ad libitum. Each treatment with birds of both sexes had two repetitions with four birds and each bird was considered as an experimental unit. Were evaluated daily weight gain, total weight gain, final live weight, total length peak-tail, monthly gain peak-tail, total length, total length of wings, monthly gain wings length, and feed cost. The data were analyzed in a completely randomized arrangement with adjusted means and Tukey’s mean comparison, then an evaluation of treatment groups by analyzing clusters for semi quantitative data. The biggest daily gain, total weight gain and final live weight was obtained with treatment T3, while the highest increase in peak-length tail and wings was obtained with treatment T1 (P nt turned out to be most economical, but the treatment that best scores obtained was T1. We conclude that the use of kitchen waste + fresh forage is a feasible strategy to feed slow-growing turkeys.

This study compares the results from the thermodynamic analysis at an Organic Rankine Cycle power plant,for first and second law efficiency,operating with 14 different working *** plant—located in the town of Los negritos,in the municipality of Villamar,in the State of Michoacán,Mexico—uses heat from a low-temperature geothermal source with the purpose of identifying the working fluids that are best suited for the operating conditions at *** v.8.0 software was used to collect the thermodynamic *** all the thermodynamic parameters that were analyzed,the fluid that performed the best had an overall energy efficiency of 5.87%,an overall exergy efficiency of 43.07%,and a net output power of 13.04 kWe.

Rising consumer concerns with synthetic drugs to treat non-communicable diseases(nCDs)have promoted a shift towards using natural biological active constituents that offer similar health *** canary seed(Phalaris canariensis L)is an emerging crop traditionally used in Mexico to treat *** liberated during simulated digestion of canary seed protein are believed to be responsible for their biological activity;however,no studies have shown the effect of controlled protein hydrolysis using commercial proteases on canary seed protein’s biological ***,this study aimed to explore the in vitro antihypertensive,antidiabetic,and anti-obesity activity of canary seed peptides derived from proteolysis with Alcalase®.Protein fractions were primarily composed of prolamins(54.07±1.8%),glutelins(32.19±3.18%),globulins(5.97±0.52%)and albumins(5.97±0.52%).Thend 3–10 kDa peptide fractions showed the highest inhibition capacity(pngiotensin-converting enzyme(IC50=0.028–0.032 mg/mL)lipase(IC50=2.15–2.27 mg/mL),α-glucosidase(IC50=0.82–1.15 mg/mL),and dipeptidyl-peptidase-iv(IC50=1.27–1.60 mg/mL).Additionally,these peptide fractions showed high antioxidant activity against DPPH(134.22–150.66μmol TE/mg)and ABTS(520.92–813.33μmol TE/mg).These results provide an insight into the potential development of functional foods using commercial enzymatic hydrolysis of canary seed proteins for treating hypertension,type-2 diabetes,and obesity.
