The leaching kinetics in cyanide media of the silver contained in the Dos Carlos waste tailings at the City of Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo State, Mexico were carried out. The used material contained the following chemical composition: 56 10-6of Ag, 0.6 10 6of Au and 70.43%(by weight) of SiO2; 7.032%(by weight) of Al2O3; 2.69%(by weight) of Fe; 0.46%(by weight) of Mn; 3.98%(by weight) of K2O; 3.34%(by weight) of CaO; 2.50%(by weight) of na2O; 0.04%(by weight) of Zn; 0.026%(by weight) of Pb. The mineralogical phases present were the following: Silica, albite, argentite, berlinite, orthoclase, potassium jarosite, and natrojarosite. In the leaching kinetics in cyanide media, and under the studied conditions,the effect of the Cn concentration on the reaction rate has no effect on the whole process of alkaline cyanidation, of which the reaction order is n 0. Temperature has an effect on the cyanidation rate of the reaction, with an activation energy of 47.9 KJ/mol. At the same time, when the particle size decreases there is an increase in the reaction rate, which is inversely proportional to the particle diameter; when increasing the naOH concentration there is an increase in the reaction rate Kexp, with a reaction order(n) of 0.215 under the studied ranges.

The version 2.1 of PETROMAR-3D model, created in the Center for Marine Meteorology of the Meteorology Institute of Cuba, is presented. This Lagrangian model has been designed to describe the physical processes of marine oil spills in the face of multiple scenarios of the marine environment. Although it is applicable to any part of the world, it is mainly designed for inter-American seas. The novelty has been to integrate the processes of drift and weathering into a model, with updated methods that incorporate 3D phenomena, a very favorable situation to achieve an operating system in Cuba and the region for the immediate and medium term. Python was chosen as the programming language because it has advanced libraries for numerical modeling, automation work and other useful tools for pre-and post-processing. By means of adapters, an important number of atmospheric, hydrodynamic and wave models have been considered to create the scenarios efficiently. The modular distribution in which the code has been created facilitates its use for other dispersion analysis and biophysical applications. Finally, a set of simple images are presented, aimed at informing decision-makers in order to mitigate the effects of the spill on the environment.

The periaqueductal gray(PAG)is a complex mesencephalic structure involved in the integration and execution of active and passive self-protective behaviors against imminent threats,such as immobility or flight from a predator.PAG activity is also associated with the integration of responses against physical discomfort(e.g.,anxiety,fear,pain,and disgust)which occurs prior an imminent attack,but also during withdrawal from drugs such as morphine and cocaine.The PAG sends and receives projections to and from other well-documented nuclei linked to the phenomenon of drug addiction including:(i)the ventral tegmental area;(ii)extended amygdala;(iii)medial prefrontal cortex;(iv)pontine nucleus;(v)bed nucleus of the stria terminalis;and(vi)hypothalamus.Preclinical models have suggested that the PAG contributes to the modulation of anxiety,fear,and nociception(all of which may produce physical discomfort)linked with chronic exposure to drugs of abuse.Withdrawal produced by the major pharmacological classes of drugs of abuse is mediated through actions that include participation of the PAG.In support of this,there is evidence of functional,pharmacological,molecular.And/or genetic alterations in the PAG during the impulsive/compulsive intake or withdrawal from a drug.Due to its small size,it is difficult to assess the anatomical participation of the PAG when using classical neuroimaging techniques,so its phys-iopathology in drug addiction has been underestimated and poorly documented.In this theoretical review,we discuss the involvement of the PAG in drug addiction mainly via its role as an integrator of responses to the physical discomfort associated with drug withdrawal.

目的:固定矫治器在正畸治疗中应用广泛。正畸力通过固定矫治器作用于牙齿而使牙齿发生移动达成矫治目标。托槽与牙釉质的粘结问题会导致托槽脱落,延长矫治疗程,直接影响正畸治疗的疗程和效果。本研究目的在于比较相同粘结剂不同操作流程,如牙釉质酸蚀时间延至60秒、牙釉质酸蚀处理后推迟5分钟再进行粘结时金属托槽和牙釉质之间的剪切强度（shear bond strength,SBS）和粘结剂残留指数（adhesive remnant index,ARI）,进而分析临床工作中经常出现的操作变化对正畸治疗的影响,为正畸临床治疗提供参考。方法:本实验应用60颗双尖牙和两种正畸粘结系统:3M Unite?化学固化粘结系统和3M Transbond XT?光固化粘结系统进行研究,所应用酸蚀剂为Gluma Etch 35酸蚀凝胶。将符合纳入标准的60个样本随机分成两组,应用两种粘结系统进行实验。首先将两组样本置于丙烯酸树脂管中,每一组再随机分为三个亚组（每组10个样本）,第I、II、III组应用3M Unite?化学固化粘结系统,第iv、V、VI组应用3M Transbond XT?光固化粘结系统。第I组和第iv组为对照组,依据粘结剂生产厂商推荐的操作规程进行粘结。第II组和第V组延长酸蚀时间至60秒,第III组和第VI组牙面酸蚀后浸泡于唾液环境中5分钟后进行粘结。剪切强度应用装载刃状边缘测试工具的Langrun WDW-1型拉力试验机,将其刃状边缘置于牙齿唇面,沿托槽-粘结剂-牙齿的界面施加向根尖向的压力直至粘结剂破裂。将破裂前产生的最大压力（n）转换成压强（MPa）,即为粘结剂的剪切强度。应用Photoshop CC图像处理软件分析托槽脱落后牙齿表面剩余的粘结剂,计算粘结剂残留指数。利用SPSS 22.0统计软件对所得数据进行单因素方差统计学分析。结果:本实验所得剪切强度（MPa）为:第I组:10.60±4.55,第II组:10.58±4.34,第III组:13.77±3.08,第iv组:11.89±5.44,第V组:9.18±3.27,第VI组:10.18±5.14。粘结剂残留指数为:第I组:1.50,第II组:1.50,第III组:1.20,第iv组:2.00,第V组:1.90,第VI组:1.30。对照组（第I、iv组）与实验组（第II、III、V、VI组）剪切强度及粘结剂残留指数均存在轻微差异,但无显著性差异。结论:相同粘接剂各组以及两种粘接剂间的剪切强度及粘结剂残留指数均无统计学上的差异,但3M Unite?化学固化粘结系统,牙面酸蚀后浸泡于唾液环境中5分钟后进行粘结后的剪切强度略有增加,3M Transbond XT?光固化粘结系统,延长牙釉质酸蚀时间或牙釉质酸蚀处理后延迟粘结后的剪切强度均有减小趋势,提示临床在应用Transbond XT?光固化粘结系统时,虽有足够时间调整托槽位置,但牙釉质酸蚀处理后延迟粘结托槽的时间,有可能影响托槽与牙釉质的粘结强度。

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DnA) or oligonucleotides, can be modified in several ways as chemical degradation by electrophilic reaction, attack of radicals, hydrolytic deamination or oxidative damage caused by ionizing radiation. This work discussed these degradation mechanisms, determining the effects on these biomolecules. The actual knowledge about DnA damages only permits partial enzymatic repair treatments.

An equation model for calculating the adiabatic temperature of the wet-bulb thermometer has been obtained empirical fit through a meteorological database, specificly a trough relative humidity and air temperature. A comparison of the results of calculations with the use of this equation and from meteorological database was made. The model deducted of the comparison is valid for a dry bulb temperature range of 3°C to 35°C and for relative humidity percentage in a range of 7% to 97%. normalized errors are less than 5.5%. It means a maximum variation of 0.55°C from data. However, this variation from error represents only 3.6% of the data sample. The equation model was satisfactory.

Copper Oxide Inked with Dye Obtained from the Lactarius Indigo Fungus for Energy Production

The results obtained from the characterization of a copper deposit on indium doped tin oxide (ITO), inked with natural dye extracted from the Lactarius indigo fungus, for use in Gratzel type solar cells are reported. An electrolyte composed of 0.1 M HnO3 and 0.5 M CuSO4 was used, this solution was prepared for copper deposits on the ITO. Cyclic voltammetry was performed at different scan rates to obtain the reduction zone for deposition between potentials of ?100 to ?500 mV. The dye was obtained from the indigo Lactarius fungus from maceration, once the inked deposits were obtained, characterizations were performed, the initial test was to obtain the Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-visible) of the pure dye, and later the same test was performed on the inked oxide. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) was performed on the samples, as well as Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), to characterize the material properties for its application.

Rising consumer concerns with synthetic drugs to treat non-communicable diseases(nCDs)have promoted a shift towards using natural biological active constituents that offer similar health benefits.Hairless canary seed(Phalaris canariensis L)is an emerging crop traditionally used in Mexico to treat nCDs.Peptides liberated during simulated digestion of canary seed protein are believed to be responsible for their biological activity;however,no studies have shown the effect of controlled protein hydrolysis using commercial proteases on canary seed protein’s biological activity.Therefore,this study aimed to explore the in vitro antihypertensive,antidiabetic,and anti-obesity activity of canary seed peptides derived from proteolysis with Alcalase®.Protein fractions were primarily composed of prolamins(54.07±1.8%),glutelins(32.19±3.18%),globulins(5.97±0.52%)and albumins(5.97±0.52%).Thend 3–10 kDa peptide fractions showed the highest inhibition capacity(pngiotensin-converting enzyme(IC50=0.028–0.032 mg/mL)lipase(IC50=2.15–2.27 mg/mL),α-glucosidase(IC50=0.82–1.15 mg/mL),and dipeptidyl-peptidase-iv(IC50=1.27–1.60 mg/mL).Additionally,these peptide fractions showed high antioxidant activity against DPPH(134.22–150.66μmol TE/mg)and ABTS(520.92–813.33μmol TE/mg).These results provide an insight into the potential development of functional foods using commercial enzymatic hydrolysis of canary seed proteins for treating hypertension,type-2 diabetes,and obesity.

Biogas Estimation as a Basis for the Implementation of an Intermunicipal Landfill: Michoacan, Mexico

Municipal solid waste (MSW) generated in the municipalities of Sahuayo, Jiquilpan and Venustiano Carranza in Michoacan, is deposited in open dumps becoming hot spots for health and the environment. The total population in the three municipalities is 130,497 habitants, with a per capita waste production estimated in 0.718 kg·hab-1·day-1 (34,203 t·yr-1). The aim of this study was to estimate the formation of biogas for power generation from the decomposition of waste. The model used was the mexican model of biogas (version 2.0), assuming a useful life of 21 years of the landfill at a cost of 0.19 USD per kWh, the average CFE rate for municipal public lighting. Four possible scenarios were evaluated: one optimal recovering 68% of the biogas (10,095 tonnes of methane in 20 years), having a savings concept in electricity of 8,015,252 USD;in the second case (optimistic intermediate), it is assumed that it obtains 61% of biogas (9046 tonnes of methane) with benefits in power generation for 7,159,679 USD;the third case (pessimistic intermediate) estimating 48% of biogas recovered, being captured 7118 tonnes of methane with profits of 5,633,846 USD into electrical energy, the latter case (pessimistic), assuming 40% of biogas recovered, transforming 4672 tonnes of methane resultant in an economic benefit of 3,697,324 USD for electricity generation. The results justify the investment of the landfill and it is a measure to mitigate climate change and disease prevention.

Background: 70% of ovarian cancer cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage (III or iv) of the disease and, in turn, with a high prevalence of peritoneal carcinosis and ascites, which leads to progressive malnutrition in patients, with the consequent deterioration of their general condition. There is a very important relationship between nutritional status, quality of life, survival, and the ability to tolerate multidisciplinary treatment of peritoneal carcinosis. Methods: A phase II, open-label, single-center, non-randomised clinical trial was conducted that included 36 patients with advanced disease who were administered the nutritional supplement Ocoxin, 30 ml twice a day, beginning one week before chemotherapy (CT) based on carboplatin/paclitaxel, of which they receive three cycles with neoadjuvant intent. Ocoxin treatment was continued during chemotherapy and for three weeks after completion of the last cycle, as well as during any periods for which this treatment was discontinued due to toxicity. The effect of Ocoxin on the quality of life was assessed through the QLQ C30 and QLQ OV28 questionnaires from the start of treatment until the end of the follow-up period. In addition, the Karnofsky Index and nutritional parameters were assessed. Results: There were no significant differences between adverse events versus baseline values, except in leukocytes, lymphocytes, neutrophils, ALT, and AST. There was no deterioration of the QoL scales, except for those related to the effects of chemotherapy and alopecia. Conclusions: Ocoxin as an adjuvant to chemotherapy appears to improve better tolerance to chemotherapy, showed a good safety profile, and improved quality of life. For further information on Ocoxin neoadjuvant therapy benefits, a phase III clinical trial will be needed.
