Millet. are widely recognized for t.eir nut.it.onal significance; however, t.e met.ods employed for t.eir processing are current.y lacking. t.is art.cle primarily focuses on t.e advanced t.chnologies and progressions in millet.dehulling and polishing. t.ese t.chnologies operat. based on t.e fundament.l principles of compression-shearing, abrasion-frict.on, and cent.ifugal-impact.forces. Processing of millet. can be challenging because of t.e physical charact.rist.cs and t.ght.at.achment.of hull and bran t. t.e endosperm. However, several dehullers have been designed t. solve t.is problem for different.kinds of millet.. In addit.on, t.e nut.it.onal and ant.-nut.it.onal charact.rist.cs undergo alt.rat.ons due t. bot. dehulling and polishing processes. t.ese alt.rat.ons are t.oroughly examined and discussed in t.is art.cle. Specifically, ant.-nut.ient. such as t.nnins and phyt.t. are predominant.y found in t.e out.r pericarp of t.e grain and experience a reduct.on aft.r undergoing dehulling and polishing. t.e nut.it.onal propert.es are also subject.d t. a reduct.on; however, t.is reduct.on can be mit.gat.d by subject.ng t.e grains t. cert.in pret.eat.ent. before dehulling and polishing. t.ese t.eat.ent. serve t. enhance dehulling efficiency and nut.ient.digest.bilit. while simult.neously reducing t.e presence of ant.-nut.ient.. In t.is work, lat.ral deformat.on of human eosinophil cell during t.e lat.ral indent.t.on by an opt.cally t.apped microbead of diamet.r 4.5 µm is st.died. t.e images were capt.red using a CCD camera and t.e Bolt.mann st.t.st.cs met.od was used for force calibrat.on. Using t.e Hert. model, we calculat.d and compared t.e elast.c moduli result.ng from t.e lat.ral force, showing t.at.t.e differences are import.nt.and t.e force should be considered. Besides t.e lat.ral component. t.e set.p also allows us t. examine t.e lat.ral cell-bead int.ract.on. t.e mean values of t.e propert.es obt.ined, in part.cular t.e elast.c st.ffness and t.e shear st.ffness, were Eh = (37.76 ± 2.85) µN/m and Gh = (12.57 ± 0.32) µN/m. t.ese result. show t.at.t.e lat.ral indent.t.on can t.erefore be used as a rout.ne met.od for cell st.dy, because it.enabled us t. manipulat. t.e cell wit.out.cont.ct.wit. t.e laser.
