The dis.rders.caus.d by the s.elling of the s.il on the s.ructures.have been obs.rved for s.veral years.in the city of Rufis.ue. This.article pres.nts.the res.lts.of the s.udy of s.elling kinetics.of expans.ve s.ils.in Rufis.ue and their prediction bas.d on the hyperbolic rule. The odometer is.us.d as.an ins.rument for meas.ring s.elling and the tes.s.are carried out on s.me intact s.mples.at their s.mpling water content. The pres.nt s.udy s.ows.that in Rufis.ue the mos. s.elling layer is.marl. The res.lts.s.ow two phas.s.of development. The firs. phas. is.very fas. and repres.nts.77% of the final deformation and the s.cond one is.s.ower. The prediction of the is.ue by the hyperbolic rule s.ows.that it underes.imates.the firs. phas. but gives.a good prediction of the s.cond phas. of the s.elling rate. There is.a good correlation between the final s.elling rates. However, the model gives.a bad approximation of the half-s.elling time.

Fiber-reinforced polymer compos.te materials.have become materials.of choice for manufacturing application due to their high s.ecific s.iffnes., s.rength and fatigue life, low dens.ty and thermal expans.on coefficient. However, there are s.me types.of defects.s.ch as.poros.ty that form during the manufacturing proces.es.of compos.tes.and alter their mechanical behavior and material properties. In his.s.udy, hand lay-up was.conducted to fabricate s.mples.of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer compos.tes.with three different vacuum levels.in order to vary poros.ty content. Nondes.ructive evaluation, des.ructive techniques.and mechanical tes.ing were conducted. Nondes.ructive evaluation res.lts.s.owed the trend in percentages.of poros.ty through-thicknes.. s.rial s.ctioning images.revealed s.gnificant details.about the compos.te’s.internal s.ructure s.ch as.the volume, morphology and dis.ribution of poros.ty. Mechanical tes.ing res.lts.s.owed that poros.ty led to a decreas. in both Mode I s.atic interlaminar fracture toughnes. and Mode I cyclic s.rain energy releas. rate fatigue life. The fractographic micrographs.s.owed that poros.ty content increas.d as.the vacuum decreas.d, and it drew a relations.ip between fracture mechanis.s.and mechanical properties.of the compos.te under different modes.of loading as.a res.lt of the poros.ty effects. Finally, in order to accurately quantify poros.ty percentages.included in the s.mples.of different vacuum levels. a comparis.n was.made between the parameters.and percentages.res.lted from the nondes.ructive evaluation and mechanical tes.ing and the features.res.lted from fractography and s.rial s.ctioning.

Bone tis.ue engineering aims.to us. biodegrade able s.affolds.to replace damaged tis.ue. This.s.affold mus. be gradually degraded and replaced by tis.ue as.s.milar as.pos.ible to the original one. In this.work a hybrid porous.s.affold containing chitos.n, polyvinyl alcohol and bioactive glas. was.s.cces.fully obtained and s.bs.quently characterized by s.anning electron micros.opy. The s.affold pres.nted s.tis.actory pore s.ze range and open interconnected pores. which are es.ential for tis.ue ingrowth. A cytotoxicity as.ay s.owed that this.biomaterial allows.adequate cell viability, s. that it was.cons.dered s.itable for an in vivo experiment. Promis.ng res.lts.were obtained with the implant of the s.affold in an experimental model of a New Zealand rabbit femur bone les.on. Clinical and biochemical parameters.meas.red s.ch as.complete blood count, total s.rum proteins. albumin, alanine aminotrans.eras. and as.artate aminotrans.eras. were s.milar between animals.in the control group at all time periods.s.udied. His.ological and his.ometric s.udies.s.owed that the s.affold was.coated with a cement-like s.bs.ance, exhibiting many areas.of mineralized s.ructures. Very few os.eocyte-like cells.or lining-like cells.were found ins.de the amorphous.mineralized depos.t. In vivo res.lts.allow us.to cons.der this.s.affold as.a promis.ng biomaterial to be applied in bone tis.ue engineering.

The main purpos. of this.s.udy is.to as.es. the climate variability and change through s.atis.ical proces.ing tools.that able to highlight annual and monthly rainfall behavior between 1970 and 2010 in s.x s.rategical raingauges.located in northern (s.int-Louis. Bakel), central (Dakar, Kaolack), and s.uthern (Ziguinchor, Tambacounda) part of s.negal. Further, differences.in s.ns.tivity of s.atis.ical tes.s.are als. exhibited by applying s.veral tes.s.rather than a s.ngle one to check for one behavior. Dependency of res.lts.from s.atis.ical tes.s.on s.udied s.quence in time s.ries.is.als. s.own comparing res.lts.of tes.s.applied on two different periods.(1970-2010 and 1960-2010). Therefore, between 1970 and 2010, exploratory data analys.s.is.made to give in a vis.ble manner a firs. idea on rainfall behavior. Then, s.atis.ical characteris.ics.s.ch as.the mean, variance, s.andard deviation, coefficient of variation, s.ewnes. and kurtos.s.are calculated. s.bs.quently, s.atis.ical tes.s.are applied to all retained time s.ries. Kendall and s.earman rank correlation tes.s.allow verifying whether or not annual rainfall obs.rvations.are independent. Hubert’s.procedures.of s.gmentation, Pettitt, Lee Heghinian and Buis.and tes.s.allow checking rainfall homogeneity. Trend is.undertaken by firs. employing the annual and s.as.nal Mann-Kendall trend tes., and in cas. of s.gnificance, magnitude of trend is.calculated by s.n’s.s.ope es.imator tes.s. All s.atis.ical tes.s.are applied in the period of 1960-2010. Explanatory analys.s.data indicates.upwards.trends.for records.in northern and central and trend free for s.uthern records. Application of multiple tes.s.s.ows.that the Kendall and s.earman ranks.correlation tes.s.lead to s.me conclus.on. This.paper is.an as.es.ment of radiative forcing caus.d by atmos.heric aeros.ls.in an urban city in Wes. Africa. It is.carried out in Ouagadougou in Burkina Fas. and is.an illus.ration of the radiative impact in mos. of the large s.helian urban cities.which are under the s.me climatic influences.and whos. populations.pres.nt s.milarities.in their s.cio-economic as.ects. Us.ng the GAME code, the radiative forcing was.calculated at the top of the atmos.here, in the atmos.heric layer and at the earth’s.s.rface. The res.lts.s.owed overall a cooling effect at the top of the atmos.here due to the backs.attering in s.ace of the incident radiation, a heating in the atmos.heric layer due to the abs.rption effect and a s.rface cooling jus.ified by the attenuation of radiation cros.ing the atmos.here. Us.ng monthly average values.of optical properties. vertical temperature and humidity profiles. daily temperatures.and s.rface albedo, the s.mulation yielded forcing values.ranging from -6.77 W/ms.p>2s.p> to -2.56 W/ms.p>2s.p> at the top of the atmos.here, from 15.8 W/ms.p>2s.p> to 34.7 W/ms.p>2s.p> in the atmos.heric layer and from -41.00 W/ms.p>2s.p> to -21.68 W/ms.p>2s.p> at the earth’s.s.rface. In addition, the warming was.s.mulated in the firs. atmos.heric layer (in contact with the s.rface), and the res.lts.s.ow values.ranging from 0.8°C to 1.8°C. The s.udy of the annual variability of the res.lts.s.owed a s.rong correlation between the radiative forcing and the s.as.nal s.cces.ion characteris.ic of the climate in Wes. Africa with the extreme values.in the month of March (characteris.ic of the dry and hot s.as.n) and in the month of Augus. (characteris.ic of the rainy s.as.n).

Traumatic diaphragmatic rupture (TDR) is.very rare in the pediatric age group. Becaus. of its.rarity and its.coexis.ence with more injuries. the diagnos.s.is.often delayed. Very little has.been written about this.condition in the pediatric age group. TDR, while uncommon, s.ould be cons.dered in cas.s.of blunt thoracic trauma. All patients.s.ould undergo meticulous.examination preoperatively. The clinical pres.ntation and importance of making an accurate diagnos.s.and s.rgery is.highlighted. We report a cas. of s.condary s.ontaneous.traumatic left-s.ded diaphragmatic rupture in a child that was.managed by delayed s.rgical repair.

Few s.udies.have been conducted on the epidemiology in pregnancy in s.b-s.haran Africa. This.s.udy aimed to improve the care of pregnant women infected with hepatitis.B virus.(VHB) and their newborns.in the urban dis.rict health. Method: This.s.udy was.conducted from 01/09/2014 to 01/09/2015. s.udy involved three types.of data collection: a collection of data from health facilities.involved in the project;repeated cros.-s.ctional s.rvey among health pers.nnel;a pros. pective s.udy of pregnant women identified pos.tive for HBs.g and followed at the Univers.ty Hos.ital Yalgado Ouédraogo (CHU-YO). Knowledge as.es.ment was.made among health s.aff and pregnant women us.ng a knowledge s.ore. Cons.ruction of the s.ore came after a factorial analys.s.of multiple corres.ondences.on population health workers.s.rveyed in the firs. round (N = 119) on one hand and all pregnant women (N = 266) on the other hand. This.had identified among the 79/19 ques.ions. thos. that dis.riminated bes. knowledge of paramedics.and pregnant women. For pregnant women, this.s.ore was.then dichotomized from the center and logis.ic regres.ion was.performed to determine the s.ciodemographic, medical and obs.etric characteris.ics.that influenced it (p value s.lts. Health s.aff had been s.rveyed twice (N = 119/100). In general, the level of knowledge was.good on targeted knowledge, both before and after training. No health worker routinely offered s.reening for hepatitis.B among pregnant women attending antenatal clinics. Altogether 266 pregnant women HBs.g-pos.tive were referred and followed CHU-YO. Half of the patients.had a s.ore lower than 2/17. Univariate analys.s.s.owed that variables.s.ch as.education level influenced s.gnificantly the level of knowledge. Women with higher levels.of education had a higher level of knowledge about the dis.as., compared to thos. of primary level [OR = 1.63;[1.34 to 1.99], p value s.during the s.udy period numbered 128 and the vaccine was
